31/Mar/21 I like leaving this tripping hazard all over the place

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

My Uncle Terry went to Bonnars Meat Market and got me a bag of dog bones.  I just love them.

Eventually they will go missing.

Then, several weeks, or even months will go by, and a new bone will appear.

The Big Guy has to go to the dentist today.  I guess that it like a groomer, only for his teeth.

The Vet will look at my teeth, and I let her.  She doesn't clean them.  They will sometimes make recommendations about getting Tonya to brush my teeth.

Yea, that isn't going to happen.  I would chew up the tooth brush.

Instead she gives me dental sticks.

I don't get a lot of soft food.  That is only when I'm feeling sick, or when Tonya has decided to give in to my begging and gives me something that makes me sick and I have to recover.

That's when I get put on a diet of plain rice and yogurt.

Ice Cream will really set me off.  But frozen yogurt isn't so bad.

I love pork, but pork really doesn't love my bowels.  Oh and bacon, it's the kryptonite.  I love that stuff.  But a few hours later...  I've go to go outside.  It's just sad what happens when I eat bacon.

But I will beg and beg to have bacon.  No matter what it does to me.

Tonya gives it to me as well.  She knows what it does to me.  There is a song, Killing Me Softly by Roberta Flack.

The Big Guy, he would have me live a lot longer.  But I would only get kibble and water.  Who wants to live that life?

30/Mar/21 looking to see if you dropped your sandwich under the chair

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday was one strange day.

It started off with snow.

Then, it turned to rain.  I don't mean just a little bit of rain either.  A LOT of rain.

Then, it stopped raining, and by the afternoon, the sun was out.

The temperature actually got to the point where you could walk around without a jacket.

Now, at the 1st of March, it came in like a Lion.

Tomorrow, it's supposed to be sunny and +10.  So March will be going out like a Lamb.

But don't get too comfortable with the weather.  It could change without notice.  We have had some major snow storms in April in the past.

Of course the Big Guy is hoping that this will not be the case.

The Big Guy and Tonya went for a drive to Sydney yesterday.  They went to the Ford dealership.  The Big Guy has never driven an electric car before.

Turns out the car doesn't have power pedals.

Tonya wasn't able to drive the car.

If she can't drive the car, then they can't get it.  Case closed.  Ford better think about making a car that has power pedals so that Tonya can drive it.

29/Mar/21 there is a one treat toll to get past me

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

To say that it's raining cats and dogs outside, wouldn't be a lie.

HEY GOOGLE!  Where does the saying, it's raining cats and dogs come from?

Cats and dogs” may come from the Greek expression cata doxa, which means “contrary to experience or belief.” If it is raining cats and dogs, it is raining unusually or unbelievably hard.

So, now you know.

That would be pretty disturbing if it was actually raining cats and dogs.

Although I have heard that it was raining fish.  But that was due to a tornado sucking up the fish from a lake.  I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been a lot of fish.

If you follow the Big Guy on Facebook, you would also have seen that we had some visitors for Breakfast yesterday.

I got some eggs.  I was pretty happy about that.  Tonya did give me some bacon.  Gotta love that stuff.  Not too much though.  Just one slice.  Oh my, wasn't it grand.

I hope that I can go do my business without getting too wet.

Yes, I can see that the Big Guy is happy that it's rain.

I miss the snow already.

28/Mar/21 someone got a surprised look on their face.

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Old Man Winter decided that he was going to pay us a visit.  The weather has been bizarre, to say the least.  We had a thunder and lightening storm.  Then we had blizzard like conditions yesterday morning.  Now, today, they have a rain fall warning.

It's just weird weather.

Of course the Big Guy is grinning from ear to ear about the rain fall warning.

This means he doesn't plan to shovel or snow blow the snow.

I should be having guests over this morning.

Aurora, of course, can walk and is starting to talk.  Baby Floyd, he just lays around.  I should think in a year or so, he will be walking around, just like Aurora is.

Then I will have two of them to worry about.

Their little hands move pretty quick.  Not like the bigger humans.  They move slower and more deliberate.

But I do like to follow the babies around.  They drop stuff.  Mostly food.

Their food is so tasty and easy on my stomach.

27/Mar/21 should I play with the piggy, or chew on the bone

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I had to go sleep with Tonya and the Big Guy last night.

It was thunder and lightening and it was very very frightening.

Now, the Big Guy, he didn't even notice that it was thunder and lightening.  When he got up and noticed that I was in the room with them, he was sort of surprised by this.  That's when Tonya told him about the storm.

He said that it couldn't have been as bad as all of that.  She told him, it was really storming and really loud.

But then again.  During Hurricane Juan, that hit Halifax/Dartmouth, he slept through that too.

So, as you probably figured out, there isn't much of the snow that is left on the ground.

Not too worry, we are supposed to get some snow flurries before the day is out.

Winter isn't done just yet.

I look at this, and think...

My paws are going to get wet.

I will come in the house, from being outside.

Of course I will track my paws across the floor.

Tonya gives me that look.  She isn't pleased.  She will have to wash the floors again.

26/Mar/21 why didn't I get a hot dog

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Last night, Tonya told the Big Guy, they were going to have Hot Dogs for supper.

Of course, he was thinking, BBQed Hot Dogs.

When he got home, they were not done.

Ahhh...  he was going to cook the Hot Dogs.  Of course, on the Hot Dog maker that they keep on the back deck.

There was a twist.

It wasn't Hot Dogs.  It was smokies.  But the Big Guy has cooked Smokies on the Hot Dog maker in the past.

This time, he had an epiphany.

Why not try to cook the Smokies in the Air Fryer.  Tonya agreed.  Now, I most certainly did NOT.

12 minutes later, and they were having steaming hot Smokies on Hot Dog buns with ketchup.

They were getting on about how good they were.

I begged and begged.  None for me.  Tonya said they were too spicy.

I bet she lied about it.  She wanted them all to herself.

Oh, and the picture, above?  Caramel Vodka on ice.

I didn't get any of that either.

Just wasn't my day.

25/Mar/21 why does the snow have to melt

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I've got pictures of when the Big Guy was at CFS Alert.  The snow melted there to.  So I guess if it can melt thousands of miles North of where I live, I better get used to the snow melting where I live.

Tonya had to get up early yesterday so that she could drive her sister and her sisters dog to the groomer.

I haven't been in the car for such a long time.

Now, this doesn't bother the Big Guy too much.

The reason I can't go in the car.  Aurora.

Yup, his grand daughter.

Specifically, her car seat.

It is always in the car.

So, with the car seat in the car, that means there is no room for me.

The Big Guy says that he doesn't mind too much.  Tonya will constantly lower the back windows.  With the windows down, I drool.  All over the Big Guy's car.  The back doors to the car are always a mess.

BUT, if I can't go for drives, it means no more slobbers on the car.  No slobber on the car, and the car stays clean.

Right now, the inside of the car is just untidy.  But that wouldn't take much to fix.

24/Mar/21 it's not looking too good for the snow

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Today Elaine has to take Elaine and her dog to the groomer.  I know that soon enough, the car seats will be coming out of the car and I will go to the groomer myself.

I have to endure about 2 hours of being bathed and being combed and brushed.  It's not to bad.  I'm not too thrilled about it.  But it's not killing me.  The groomer makes sure that either Tonya or the Big Guy is there with me.

We are in that in between time.

You don't have to worry too much about shoveling snow anymore, but you don't have to worry about cutting the grass either.

There are no chores that can really be done.  It's still too early to rake the grass.  At least that is what Tonya would like to get done.  The Big Guy says, that's why he owns a lawn mower that mulches.

Now, that's not to say that the Big Guy wants a "dirty" yard either.  He does want it clean and presentable.

When I go outside and the wind blows in my fur and I shed.  No one really notices.

But when I shed in the house.

You should see how much fur I can drop in a week.

Especially at this time of the year.

23/Mar/21 this patch of snow is mine

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

We had a snow storm last Friday and we got 34 cm of snow.  That's 14 inches of snow.

This is what is left of the snow that is in our yard.  It is melting fast.

With the temperature we are supposed to get today, I don't think it is going to last.

I will have to wait till Winter to be able to see any accumulation of snow again.

I will have to suffer through the heat of another Summer.

Now the Big Guy was watching the news last night.  They had a poll to see which season people liked the most.  Summer and Fall were liked the most.

Summer 42%
Fall 41%
Spring 13%
Winter 4%

So. the Big Guy said, to all the weirdos that like Winter.  You are in the minority.  You like Winter Sports.  Well 96% of the people DO NOT LIKE WINTER and by extrapolation, they DO NOT LIKE SNOW either.

I guess I'm in the minority.  I love the cold and I love the snow.

Then again, most humans don't have to wear a double layer fur coat in the Summer.

22/Mar/21 we decided to sit out for a bit today

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

So this is the Spring part that everyone loves.

You can go sit outside, as long as your dressed for it and enjoy the sun.  It was +10 out yesterday.  Obviously the snow melts when it's above 0.

This makes the Big Guy super happy.  He absolutely loves the melting snow.

Since the house I live in has a metal roof, it also has snow rails.  The snow rails does not let the snow slide off the roof and smash onto the back deck.

BUT it does mean, while the snow is melting, you get a mini shower while you are trying to go down the back steps to the car.  But the Big Guy wouldn't have it any other way.

Once the snow has melted, he also has to fix the back deck.  There is a few boards that have rotted through.  He has done this before.  So he shouldn't take a long time to fix it.

Tonya says that she is afraid that my paw will go through that hole that is on the deck and I will break my leg.

The Big Guy said that I'm not that stupid.

So far, no stupid is working for me.

21/Mar/21 my fur has that wind blown look

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Tonya said that my fur is really soft.

I was out in the snow the day prior.  You can see the picture of me that she would have posed on Facebook.

I guess you could say that I got a snow shower.

Yesterday the Big Guy went outside and moved most of the snow around with his snow blower.  The reason I say most of the snow is that Colby came over and shoveled the back and front steps.

So, now we just have to wait for the sunny weather to heat up and melt the rest of the snow that fell.

Considering the temps that we are supposed to get, the Big Guy is pretty happy.

It will be sitting out weather before too long.

Then the Hot Dog maker will go back into full swing.  I can't wait for that to happen.

I sure do miss Hot Dogs.

There was that one time, a long time ago, when the Big Guy wasn't paying attention to me.

I ate 16 Hot Dogs off the counter.

He hasn't done that mistake of leaving food where I can get it, since then.

20/Mar/21 1st day of Spring doesn't impress me

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday we got 34 1/2 cm of snow.  That is is just over 13.5 inches of snow.  The Big Guy didn't go outside to take care of the snow.  He plans on doing that later on.

But he is hoping that this will be the last of the snow for THIS year.

Myself, I loved it.

I must have begged to go outside about 20 times yesterday.

At one point, Tonya clipped my lead on my collar and I pretty much ran outside.  Well my lead got caught around my back legs and I fell down the back stairs.

I got up, looked around to see what happened.

Got my legs untangled from my lead.

Then I ran around, trying to get to all the new fallen snow.

I can't wait to see what the Big Guy does with the snow.

Especially in my "pooping area".  That should be fun when my poop starts flying off the end of his snow blower.

I will not be allowed to be off the back deck until the Big Guy is all done with his snow blower.

So I will have to bark as loud as I can to let him know where I am at.
