31/Jan/17 bath towel chew toy

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home

I've brought a towel down from the bathroom to chew on.  The Big Guy is NOT impressed with this little trick that I do.  It doesn't matter to me if they are clean or dirty.  I get a towel from the bathroom and bring it down stairs.  If they are not watching me, I chew and rip up the towel.

Yes, there is a lot of little things that I do to REALLY annoy the Big Guy.  But I am bored and really want their attention.

So far, we had a little snow that fell yesterday.  But nothing that really stayed with us.  The Big Guy hasn't really used his snow blower that much this year.  He doesn't seem all that upset either.

I bet there is a lot of other people that would love to have snow and colder temperatures.

I am barking at the air right now.  The Big Guy has come around a few times to see what I am barking at, and there is nothing there.  I just love the sound of my own voice.

Bye bye for now.

30/Jan/17 I am in the background

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home

Can you see me in this picture?  I am in the background being all spooky.

Yesterday was a lazy day for me and my humans.  I got to laze around while they were at home.  NO kennel time at all.  Even when Tonya was sweeping up the floor, I was able to just stay outside.

Since the Big Guy "painted" the wood with that hot sauce and the cayenne pepper, I haven't been chewing on the siding to the house.

The weather looks pretty good for the rest of the week.  Only snow flurries.  We are not out of the woods just yet though.  We are only coming up on the end of January.  We will have February and March to get though.  The Big Guy has a fresh container of gas for his snow blower.  So he is ready for what ever happens.

Although he needs a piece of leather or some other fabric that he can put over the lock on his garage.  It does ice up and he has run out of lock de-icer.  He will have to think about getting more of this stuff, or risk being locked out the garage when it is REALLY important that he gets inside.

Tonya swept up the floor and she said that she could make another dog from the fur that I am shedding.  Just wait, it isn't spring yet.  When spring comes around, they better think about brushing me.  Or they are going to be getting a lot more fur on the floor.

Bye bye for now.

29/Jan/17 I am always being put in my kennel

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home

So I got a little excited...  It wasn't like they were going to use that draft protector thingy forever...

I find that any stuffed item can be chewed up.  Only this time, I did it when the Big Guy was around.

What you don't see is the other trail of stuffing that I left.  It went from the dining room to the living room.

The Big Guy was in the kitchen and he was cooking away.

He noticed that I was being quite.  I was having fun with this stuffed item.  I heard him walking out of the kitchen, so I jumped up and ran to him.  I wagged my tail and got a pat.  He thought I was just being quiet and being good.

So he went back to his cooking.

Once again, he wondered, why was I so quite.

Well the second time, I didn't hear him coming.

So I got put in the kennel while he cleaned up the stuffing and threw out the draft protector.

He then got a bowl of Franks Hot Sauce and laced it with Cayane Pepper.  Then he got his BBQ brush and painted the wood siding again.  I have been nibbling again on the deck rails and other pieces of wood.  He says it's going to cure me of chewing wood, or burn my mouth off.

I think I better find something else to chew on.

Bye bye for now.

28/Jan/17 am I not handsome?

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

This picture goes in my portfolio.  That way, when they are looking for a male model, I will be ready.  What do you think ladies?

Yesterday my non-furry Uncle Terry came by for a quick visit.  He hasn't seen me in a few weeks.  He got me to jump up on him and I was looking eye to eye with him.  I don't think he was expecting that of me.

Then he was looking at my paws.  Yes, I have big paws.  Get over it.  These big paws allow me to pull stuff in a wagon.  I don't have a wagon though.  But if I had one... these paws would be pulling it.

So the Big Guy is going to be cooking today.  He got this new flour and is going to make this Keto Bread.  He was mumbling that the bread looks more like a cake recipe.  I guess he will find out if it is any good.

Tonya bought a new shower head from Canadian Tire.  The Big Guy will be installing it and apparently, it will allow me to get bathed at home now.  We shall see about that.  But if you remember that time where I was so dirty cause I was digging holes...  well now they can shower me down.

Tonya also got me a new chew toy.  Well that is in the garbage now.  It didn't last more than an hour before I destroyed it.  It was fluffy, had stuffing and a squeaker.  Now it is in pieces.  Stuffing everywhere and no squeaker any longer.

Bye bye for now.

27/Jan/17 my new collar is VERY reflective

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Look at this picture of me and look how much light is coming off my new collar.  If you click on the picture, it will go full screen for you to get a better view.

See that wing chair to the right of this picture?  That is where the Big Guy sits to play his video games.  His controller is wireless, so he can sit far away from the TV when he is playing.  I will occasionally go to him for a pat and some attention.  Well, that doesn't always work so well.

Yesterday I got REALLY sick in my kennel.  When Tonya came home, she could smell something that was rotten.  As she got closer to my kennel, she seen that it was me.  I had puke all in my chest and on my legs.

She cleaned me up and put me outside.

Then she cleaned up my kennel.

But I still smelled like barf when she brought me to pick up the Big Guy from work.

When we got home, the Big Guy held my collar and I had no idea what was going on.  THEN IT HAPPENED!  He started to spray me with that Blue Berry Cheese Cake dry shampoo.  I really don't like being sprayed with that stuff.  I bounced away from the spray.  But the Big Guy had a firm grip on my collar.  So I really couldn't run away.

So now, I smelled like barf and cheese cake.

Does your doggie smell bad?  You can buy this spray at WalMart.  Here is the link: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pet-Head-I-Heart-Pet-Head-Dry-Clean-Blueberry-Muffin-15.2-fl-oz-Spray-Shampoo/27767100

The Big Guy gave me a sniff this morning and he said that I smell OK now.

Bye bye for now.

26/Jan/17 there is pepper in the house

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Did you know that there are vents on a dishwasher?  Sometimes the vents smell like food when it first starts up.

BUT more important... you can see that my nose can ALMOST reach the counter top.

I know if I were to stand up on my back legs, I would be able to see everything that is up there.  But the humans that I live with, they would get upset with me if I did that.  So I am going to keep all 4 paws on the ground.

The Big Guy was able to enjoy his Tomatoe Juice with Pepper this morning.  He was really happy about that.

Can you see how white the fur is on my chest?

Well that is because I went to see Ann Marie.  She is a groomer that works in Sydney Mines.  She uses Blue Dawn dishwashing soap on white fur and then Baby Shampoo on any other color.  Since I have a tri-colored coat, she needed to use both.

She ran out of baby shampoo and had to go to Foodland.  While she was there, she was telling the lady at the cash, that she is washing a HUGE Bernese Mountain Dog.  He is only 9 months old and weighs over 100 pounds.  The lady that was working the cash asked Ann Marie, is the dog's name Max?  Yes it is...  how did you know that?  She said that she was at a New Year's eve party and sat with Tonya and the Big Guy and that she reads my blog every day.

Everyone, say hello to my friend Joyce Fraser.  The Big Guy just sent her a friend request on Facebook.  Now, if she excepts, she will get to see the Facebook notification each day, right away.

I get these nails that are on my Dew Claws.  They grow right over and into the pads of my back paws.  Ann Marie took the time to cut them.  But after she did that, I wouldn't allow her access to my paws.  So she will have to clip my nails another day.

I wasn't happy about the blower that they use to dry me off.  I had all 4 of my paws in low 4 x 4 and I was determined that I was NOT going to have anything more to do with any of them.  Tonya told them, just blow dry my body and not my face.

I wonder what adventures I will have today.

Bye bye for now.

25/Jan/17 your breath stinks

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So this morning, the Big Guy sleeps in.  Only by 30 minutes, but it kinda throws off his "routine".

He goes to the kitchen and he makes up the coffee.  It's brewing.

He goes to the cupboard and reaches for a glass and puts it on the counter.

He goes to the fridge and bring out his tomatoe juice.  He really likes having a large glass of tomatoe juice with a lot of pepper.

He reaches for his pepper grinder and it's empty.

He reaches for the pepper shaker and it's empty too.

He goes to his "spice" cupboard and looks for some pepper corns.  Nope.  None there.  Sigh...  He reaches for a container which is labeled as pepper.  It's dark in the kitchen as he is only working with the night light that is in there.

He unscrews the cap to the pepper shaker and does this thing where he wraps his hand around the top of the pepper shaker.  (Kinda like making a human funnel for the pepper to go into the pepper shaker)  After the pepper shaker is full.  He puts the container away and puts the cap on the pepper shaker.

He starts shaking pepper into his glass.  He takes note, it is taking a lot of shakes to get the amount of pepper into his glass.  He finally feels he has enough pepper and pours his tomatoe juice into his glass.

He puts everything away.  Tomatoe juice back in the fridge.  Pepper shaker back where it belongs.  Pepper container back in the cupboard.

He lifts up his glass of Tomatoe juice with liberal amount of pepper.

He drinks and knows IMMEDIATELY.  This isn't just pepper.

He poured a liberal amount of Pepper/Garlic mix into his Tomatoe juice.

He likes tomatoes and he likes garlic.  He likes garlic pizza sauce.  He likes a lot of garlic in his spaghetti sauce.  But he did NOT expect to have garlic in his morning glass of tomatoe juice and pepper.

He drained his glass and put some water in it.

He took out the container from the cupboard and turned the lights on.  Confirmed.  Pepper and garlic seasoning.

Well it's too late now.  Every time the Big Guy is burping, his breath smells terrible.

Bye bye for now

24/Jan/17 I am as long as Tonya is tall

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Can you see just how TALL I am getting?

This morning, I was getting scratches from the Big Guy.  He wanted me to pay attention to something that was outside.  Well if it wasn't a friggin stray cat and he was IN MY YARD!

I would have NONE of that.  I barked.  I ran from window to window.  I barked more.  I jumped up on the window sill trying to show the cat just who is boss.

Eventually the Big Guy put me outside and I was not able to find that cat.

That cat has some nerve being in my yard.

So scary weather is coming to the Maritimes.  Freezing rain for today and this evening.  Then, tomorrow, upwards of 45 mm of rain.  That's just shy of 2 inches of rain.  Now, this wouldn't be scary in the summer time.  Yes, it's a lot of rain, but right now the ground is frozen.  So the rain isn't going to soak into the ground.

There is going to be a lot of flooding.  HUGE puddles on the road and what not.  So everyone better drive safe.

The Big Guy salted the back deck and area where he parks his car, prior to this freezing rain we are supposed to get.  That should make the back steps less dangerous.

I got a friend that reads my blog everyday who had a Birthday yesterday.  She lives in West Virginia.  Everyone say hello to Carolyn.

Bye bye for now

23/Jan/17 saying "Hello" to a friend from work

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

I had some visitors from Tonya's work yesterday.

I had to smell and lick them.

Eventually I settled down.  But when they first came in...  NO WAY!  I was so excited to meet new people.

Yesterday the Big Guy made some Corned Beef Hash for breakfast.  I got to have a little bit of it as Tonya didn't finish everything that was on her plate.  Believe me, it wasn't much.

Then, later in the day, the Big Guy cooked a turkey.  Well, I never had turkey before.  He took it all apart and boiled the bones and the skin.  But as he was cutting up the meat, there would be the occasional small piece that would drop to the floor.  I would gobble it up right away.

Then after Tonya and the Big Guy had their supper, they made up their tupperware containers for their lunches and then she put some boiled potatoe, carrot and turnip in my food bowl with some turkey gravy.  Man oh man, it was some good!  I was licking and licking my food bowl.  I wanted a lot more, but Tonya refused.

Then, they did something else.  They got these little tin foil pans.  They put the left over turkey in the pans with some turkey gravy.  Then covered them up and put them in the freezer.  They made 10 of these little pans.  Saying that they now got 10 more turkey meals.

The Big Guy was saying how normally the white meat on the turkey is always dry.  Well not yesterday's turkey.  Wow!  It was like he had deep fried it.  He has a turkey frier, but he doesn't use it that often.

Well, the Big Guy wants to check Facebook, so I got to go.

Bye bye for now.

22/Jan/17 Good morning Colorado

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

I have a new friend from Colorado.  Gypsy and she lives in United States.  But she lives a LONG way from me.  I can't measure time so good, but I know that it would be several pee pee stops in the car to get to her forever home.

Gypsy has her own blog.  Check it out: http://bernertails.blogspot.ca/

Isn't she beautiful...  sigh...  to have a girlfriend...  that would be great...  or at least to have a girlfriend that lived CLOSER!

So I was right.  The Big Guy played his video game most of the day yesterday.  So I slept most of the day.  He patted me a few times and let me outside.  Then he went and watched some TV.  But then I heard him snoring.  So he really wasn't watching TV.

When he got up, he went and got a turkey out of the freezer.  Today, he is going to be baking a turkey.  He has smoked a turkey.  He has deep fried a turkey.  But the most common way, he bakes them in the oven.  He doesn't feed me turkey though.  Or the bones.  I know where the green bin is and I am going to tip that over some day when he isn't looking.

I find a lot of times, after cooking a turkey, they put the carcass outside for the stray cats and the seagulls and other birds.  They pick at it but always leave the turkey legs alone.  Last year, the Big Guy mowed a turkey leg and it went flying from under the lawn mower.

The Big Guy has to make Tonya some breakfast.  I heard her asking him to make some corn beef hash.  So he is going to get out that big cast iron frying pan and it is going to smell so WONDERFUL.  But then he is going to feed me kibble and water.  IMAGINE!  No corn beef hash for the old dog.

Bye bye for now

21/Jan/17 new kennel installed in the car

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Remember, if you click on the picture, it goes full screen.

So the Big Guy took the piece that would adjust the size of my kennel and put it in the car.  Now I stay in the back seat of the car while we go for a drive.  It is really easy to take out of the car when humans need to go for a drive.

The snow yesterday was GREAT for making snow balls.  The Big Guy threw a few of them at me.  Because I couldn't see where the snow went, I would bite at the ground anyways.  Figured it was fun to tease him that I found the snow ball.

You can see by the picture, there is a seagull sitting on the top of the house.  I couldn't get him.  He was way too far up.

Here I am at my feeding station.  They are going to have to raise the level of the bowls a little higher for me pretty soon.

Tonya has to work today.  I bet that the Big Guy is going to play his new video game.

Bye bye for now.

20/Jan/17 picture of my undercarriage 4 x studded paws for the snow

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

It's no wonder I can pull so hard when I am out of a walk.  Look at my 4 studded paws.  We're talking maximum grip in the snow, ice, mud.  We're really talking about all terrain paws here.

They can pick up the dirt really easy and make the rest of me dirty when I go mudding.

That is about the only reason that the Big Guy can appreciate winter.  When I track in the snow, it melts and then will dry up on the floor.  Although Tonya can appreciate this a lot more.  She is the one that cleans the floors.  She said that when she got the Big Guy to do the floor, he does a "lick job".

I am sure that you ladies know what I mean.  You must have a husband that will do the fastest cleaning job that you have EVER seen.  Then you have to go around behind him, bringing it up to YOUR standards.  A dirty house doesn't reflect on "him" does it...

The Big Guy was REALLY late getting up this morning.  He slept in.  That is really strange for him.  Now I bet his whole day will be put off.  Good thing he can make up his schedule so that he is back on track.

Yesterday the Big Guy got me a raw hide treat.  It's gone now of course.  I ate it in about 2 hours.  But I was quite for 2 hours.  Tonya says that they are not good for me.  Does anyone out there have any thoughts about that?  Otherwise, I can't see the retailers selling them if they are not good for us doggies.

Bye bye for now.

19/Jan/17 why do I live where the air hurts my face

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

I get up on all the furniture.  Even the stuff that is outside.  It was pretty cold outside when this picture was taken.  We're not talking cold like Winnipeg, but it's pretty cold outside for Cape Breton.

The Big Guy and Tonya must be feeling a little better, as they had some wine last night after their supper.  The Big Guy is still coughing and blowing his nose a lot.  I am glad that I don't get human colds.  They look nasty.

The Big Guy brought Tonya's birthday cake to work. The ladies there LOVED it.  They were really surprised when they found out, the cake was 3 days old.  But the Big Guy kept the cake in a tupperware container that is made for cakes.  So it stayed fresh that whole time.

When the Big Guy put me outside last night, he came outside with me for a few minutes.  He had a bowl and a small brush with him.  Then he "painted" the wood stuff that I like to chew on with Dave's Hot Sauce.  I didn't much feel like chewing the wood last night.  I have a feeling, he is going to be doing that often.  He REALLY wants me to stop chewing on the wood.

Bye bye for now.

Wednesday 18 January 2017

18/Jan/17 are you looking at ME?

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Last night, I got such a nice surprise.  The Big Guy's friend from work, well he came by to walk me and his own doggie, Kylo.

As soon as we were outside, Kylo got off his leash.  Tonya got so scared.  Kylo is not near his own home and he was running out on to the street.  One of her friends doggie, well, he ran out on to the street and he got hit by a car.  He is no longer with his forever family.  He had to go to doggie heaven.  His forever family is really sad.

The Big Guy went out on the front deck and tried to call Kylo, but he wouldn't have any of it.  He was just having too much fun running around and around.

When Shaun got back with me, he said that I can pull really HARD.  But I have these really big paws and I can dig into the ground.

Shaun said that I don't like to cross the road.  That is true.  Normally I only go for a walk around the block and never cross the road.

The Big Guy REALLY needs to put gas in his gerry can.  It is going to snow today, and there really isn't enough gas in his snow blower to go very far.  So I am thinking, after he drops Tonya off at work, he should fill that can.  Otherwise, he could regret it.

Bye bye for now.
