30/Nov/19 the weather outside is frightful

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

We don't have a fire in the fireplace, so I can't finish the rhyme.

The last time we tried to use the fireplace, the chimney was cold and the hot air from the fireplace didn't go up as much as the cold air come down and smoked out the remainder of the house.  Now, had the Big Guy created a ROARING fire, the heat would have pushed the colder air out of the chimney and it wouldn't have been a problem.

The chimney is blocked off with plywood.  Honestly, they should get a fireplace insert and be done with it.  Then they could have a fire and we would have a different heat source.  Oh well, not my problem.

I wear a fur coat all the time.  I'm not even cold when it's -10 and -15 C outside.  My fur is made for much colder climates.

The weather has been cold and raining the past week.  This is not Christmas weather.  But it just isn't cold enough for it to snow just yet.

So the snow blower is going to stay where it is at for now.

Did you see that other post the Big Guy did on Facebook?  The one with the LCD TV/Shovel?  He is a bit weird.  I'm not sure how a product like that would work.  Just like there is a new carbon fiber snow shovel that you can buy at Home Depot.  It's got a rotating head on it.  REALLY, suddenly, your going to shovel the snow in a different direction so, you need the swivel head?  I don't know...  I've seen the Big Guy just change the grip on the shovel and it works in BOTH directions.  Dumb product.

29/Nov/19 we are not amused

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

So, did you hear the winds last night?  Hmmm...  I should also realize, not all of my readers to this blog live in Nova Scotia.

OK, if you lived in Cape Breton Island...  It was VERY windy last night.

So much so that people that put out their green bin, well they are NOT going to be finding it in the same spot they put it yesterday.  It is now down the road.

Do you know how much NOISE a green bin makes when it falls over?  Then do you also know much much noise a green bin makes as it's rolling around on the street?

Yea...

It makes A LOT OF NOSE!

So much so, that it kept me awake.

I would hear "something", so I would get up and have a look outside.

Hmmm...  it's the green bin.

Then, since the green bin fell over, now it's a new noise.  (Rolling around noise)

I would have to look outside just to make sure everything was OK.

I hardly slept at all last night, trying to protect the house.

I'm going to be napping today, I can tell you that.

28/Nov/19 I've got my eye on you

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Well from the picture above, it would seem that I only have one eye.

I can assure you, I have two eyes.

So, yesterday, I had to go from window to window.  The Big Guy was outside and he was putting the Christmas lights up outside the house.

When he was putting the lights up, there is this plug that is outside.  Well, sometimes it decides it doesn't want to work.  But you never know when it's NOT going to work.  Then it will work again.  There isn't any switch on it.  It's just dumb.

Yesterday, when the Big Guy first went outside, the plug wasn't working.  But then, about 1/2 an hour later, it WAS working.

Dumb plug.

Yesterday the Big Guy had put some spot lights up.  Well he didn't like the spot lights.  So he turned them off.

But Tonya DOES want them on.  So the Big Guy is going to be moving the spot lights.

However, we are also expecting quite a bit of rain today.  So that might not be happening today.

Christmas is a lot of work.

27/Nov/19 I'm so happy living here in my forever home

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

First off, I have to say "Hello" to Krysta King.  She was serving the Big Guy and Tonya while they were at Bette's for lunch yesterday.

It was their 26th Anniversary.

The Big Guy had his normal Fish & Chips while Tonya had the Fish Cakes and Beans.  They gave her such a large portion, she had to take 1/2 of it home.  Guess what she is having for breakfast this morning.

Now, she better watch out, I will be begging her for some of her breakfast.

They put a lot of bacon in the beans, so I will probably not be allowed to have any of her beans.

While those two rain away from home yesterday, they went shopping.  They got the Big Guy some sort of battery charger for his XBox controller.  Look, he is just so excited to be able to get this unit.  It wasn't expensive.  It was on sale for $23.00 at Best Buy.

They went over to Canadian Tire and got some cup hooks.  This is going to allow the Big Guy to be able to decorate the house for XMas.  The wooden stuff is already attached to the deck railings.  Of course, he is going to have to get some pictures later on.

They also went to WalMart.  They had to get some stuff for their hamburger soup.  Now, this stuff smelled wonderful.  But because of all the onions in the soup, guess who isn't allowed to have any...  grrr...  why do they do that all the time?

We are expecting a bunch of rain tomorrow.  So the Big Guy says, he wants to finish the outside of the house for the XMas decorations before the rain.  Good idea if you ask me.

26/Nov/19 creepy talent, I can curl my tongue

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I can also do the downward dog like it's no one's business.  Take that Yoga Ladies...

Something else I can do.  When I fart, they are silent, each and every time.

A trick that I love to do.  When Tonya and the Big Guy come into the house.  It really doesn't matter if they have been gone a long time or not.  I will grab one of Tonya's shoes and run away with it.

Then, Tonya will trade the shoe for a treat.

I have no desire to chew on Tonya's shoes, but only to get the treat.

I will run around the house with the shoe in my mouth.

Obviously I can run a lot faster than Tonya or the Big Guy.

Now, if the Big Guy yells at me, I drop the shoe and go away.  But he also thinks it's funny.  So he doesn't yell very often at me for grabbing Tonya's shoe and running with it.

Well, either today, or tomorrow, or the next day, Tonya and the Big Guy will be bringing stuff down from the attic.  They are going to be putting stuff out.  They are called: Christmas Decorations.

Now, they will put stuff in the windows.  Quite often they will get in MY way to look outside.  But the lights are pretty.  So we will see what they get done and where stuff goes.

25/Nov/19 this jug of windshield washer fluid should go in the car

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

There has been this jug that has been at the back door, it seems it's been there forever.  I know that I'm a dog and that my memory is a lot different than humans.  But it seems to me, this jug just needs to be put into the car and be done with it.

Oh, but then again, it's not the winter grade windshield washer fluid.

Humans make stuff so complicated.  Why can't they just have one that does the job all year round?

What if they put the winter stuff in the car in the summer?

But in the summer, they need wind shield washer fluid that gets rid of bugs and tar.

I didn't know that tar was a problem in wind shields.

I thought tar went on the road...  not in the air...

Then there is this new stuff that the Big Guy wants for his car.  It's a new type of car polish.  Apparently you can put it on the car and it will last for at least 6 months.  If you do two applications, it could last about a year.  But like everything else the Big Guy wants, it's sort of expensive.

But I have to wonder...  if he puts this new wax on the car...  will this encourage him to lower the windows for me?  He HATES it when I drool and it goes down the car door.

Tonya doesn't care, she opens the window for me all the time.  You can tell she doesn't wax the car.

24/Nov/19 yes, I will be laying "in the way" later on too

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

When Tonya and the Big Guy try to move around the house, I make sure to lay inside door ways, or in the middle of the room.  You know, just places where I can be in the way.  I love being the center of attention.

So, last summer, the Big Guy went to the store and got himself an electric rat trap.  Well that trap doesn't care if your a rat or a mouse.

It kills either way.

So far, it's been about a month now.

No mice.

I can't believe that we would have got them all.  Probably got them all in the area where the trap is luring them.

The Big Guy has to put some new peanut butter in the trap and move it to a new location to see if there is any more mice out there that need to be caught.

Just like the Big Guy also wrote to "the city".  He was asking about the green bin.  There is a screen that is missing off the side of the green bin.  Well they got rats that go into the green bin, help themselves to meals and then live under the green bin.  There is actual tunnels under the green bin.  The rats are smart enough to avoid the traps.  Also, you can't put the electric trap outside, it's just not designed for that.

But, we have also found out, there is a lot of rats around the city.  That is due to the SPCA sterilizing the male cat population.

Geesh, did they learn NOTHING from the Black Plague?

23/Nov/19 are you better yet, can we go for a walk now

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

So the Big Guy has been nursing this cold now, coming on two weeks.  I mean, it really took a lot out of him.

He would just lay there and watch TV, while hiding under a blanket.  He would sniffle and blow his nose.

Yesterday, he came home, he was still sniffling and he had a sore throat from talking on the phone all day.

No, this morning, it's pissing down rain.

So that will be the next excuse not to go for a walk.  "I'm still a bit sick and I don't want to get a relapse".

Oh well, since he is the one that holds the leash, I've got to wait till he gets all better.

Which I hope is SOON!

I really want to go for walks again.

GO AWAY YOU VICIOUS COLD!

Oh, and we are supposed to be getting some snow flurries.  That is going to put him in a mood.  Great...

22/Nov/19 I would like to come inside now

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Well the weather outside is miserable.

It is cold outside, but not cold enough for snow.  But right now, it shows it's +3, but it feels like it's -2.  So it's really cold out, but not cold enough for snow.  So, the weather is miserable.

But there is no lack of rain as of late.

Remember the other day, I was saying that the Big Guy went out and swapped over the lawn tractor attachment for the snow blower attachment...  Well, shortly after he was done, it was pouring rain.  Had he waited another hour or so, he would have been working in the rain.  Either that, or he would have just put it off again.

I got a visit from Aurora yesterday.  I almost got to sniff her.  She was on Mylynne's knee and she was looking at me.  I was able to get quite close.  Floyd is rather nervous about me getting so close though.

I'm a good dog and I would never want to hurt Aurora.  I just want to sniff her.  She is just so small.

She really does look like her brother though.

Floyd will NOT be able to keep Aurora away from me once she starts walking.  Then she will be on MY level.

21/Nov/19 I don't need a blanket, but it would be nice

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

A few times, Tonya has decided that I need a blanket.

Those few times, I've taught her I don't.

Then, I will mouth the blanket.

Oh my, the texture.

Before I know what I've done, the blanket is shredded.

Geesh, I didn't mean do.

It just happens.

Like yesterday, Tonya was cleaning off the dinning room table.  Well there was this cardboard drink holder and a couple napkins.

The Big Guy was in the kitchen, doing up his gravy, which was amazing, by the way, and I just couldn't help myself.  Napkins are just like toilet paper, only not on a roll.

The Big Guy could hear some ripping but couldn't locate it.  So he started creeping around the house.  Oh he found me.  The napkins were shredded.

He didn't say anything.  As he normally doesn't.  He didn't scold me or anything.  He quietly picked up everything and laid it on the kitchen table for Tonya to see what mistake she had done by putting the stuff where I can get it.

20/Nov/19 it's a trap

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Oh no, what's a dog to do?  My leg is trapped on the other side of the chair.  Doom and despair!

Naw... I'm just fooling.

I'm not trapped at all.

So, the Big Guy is back up to his old tricks.  He is cooking a turkey right now.  Yup, it's in the oven.  Now, later on, Mylynne, Floyd, Colby and Aurora are going to be dropping by for supper.

Some times, Colby can be fussy and I get to have what's on his plate.

Last night, Tonya and the Big Guy took off and went out for supper.  They came back and I could smell a strange dog and a cat off of them.  They must have gone to Tonya's sister's house.

They came back and they had two tupperware containers with them.  I found out, there was chili in the tupperwear.  I didn't get to have any of it though.  Tonya was saying, it's too spicy for me.  Which it likely is.

Now, the thing with the turkey.  The Big Guy will be taking it out of the oven in a few hours from now.  Then he is going to put it on a cutting board and is going to remove all the bones.  Then he is going to put the bones on to boil.  Then, once they are done boiling, he will put some of the bigger bones in the green bin, and the rest of them, he will throw out to the sea gulls.

HELLO!  You could be feeding me the bigger bones.  Oh but they will come up with some sort of excuse that they will get stuck in my gut and then I will need to be operated on.  So, perhaps those bones should go in the green bin.

But you could feed me some of the turkey.  It wouldn't kill you to do that.
