31/Jan/20 I am close to 5 feet long, mussel to tail

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Each of these kitchen tiles are 1 foot square.  I am pretty much 5 feet long, from the tip of my tail, to my nose.  I am consider a big dog now.

There is a new TV series that the Big Guy is really enjoying.  It is called "Star Trek Pickard".  There was all kinds of other Star Trek series.

There was:
Star Trek
Star Trek the Next Generation
Star Trek Deep Space 9
Star Trek Voyager
Star Trek Enterprise
Star Trek Discovery

The Big Guy enjoyed them all.  Oh, and of course, there was the movies.  The Big Guy enjoyed them too.

Did you happen to see the video of Tonya on the Big Guy's Cub Cadet, riding around the yard, dressed up as a unicorn?  Well the Big Guy uploaded it to America's Funniest Video.  I guess we will see if it gets any "traction" with them.  Of course the Big Guy is hoping that he will win.  Who wouldn't want to win?

I wonder if there is any of the videos of ME that he could upload?

Do you think I would win?

30/Jan/20 when are you going to make me dog treats

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday the Big Guy made this thing.  It's called Salisbury steak.  Tonya said that it was THE BEST he has ever made so far.

Oh, do you want the recipe?  Well you can click <<HERE>> for the recipe.  The picture may not look so great, but I can guarantee you...  WOW!

So, how do I know this?

Well Tonya decided that they would have what she calls, Rainbow Potatoes.  So you cut up potatoes, carrots, parsnips, sweet potatoes, turnips and the like, and boil them up, all together.  Then you mash them up, so that they are all together.  Now, because there are chunks, although on the smaller side, but chunks none the less, so it gives a rainbow effect.  Sort of.  OK, so don't read too much into it.

BUT...

After the rainbow potatoes had cooled off, Tonya mixed them up with my kibble.  Not a HUGE portion, dog sized portion.  As a bonus, she also put some gravy over it.

Well...

My kibble never tasted so good.

I didn't get to have any of the Salisbury steaks, as there is quite a bit of onions in them and I'm not supposed to have onions at all.  But honestly, it was in the gravy.  Not a lot, some of the onion bits had fallen off and they were in the gravy.  YUMMY!

29/Jan/20 I left my heart in San Francisco ♫♪♪

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday I wasn't at home.  The Big Guy and I went for a drive and we ended up in Scotchlake.  That is where the Goodhands Doggie Day Care is.

I spent a lot of time outside running around in the snow with the other dogs.

It was a good time.

When the Big Guy picked me up later on, I was some tired.

I was breathing so hard, it didn't take long before all the windows in the car were all steamed up.  Even though the Big Guy had the car's defrost on, it just couldn't keep up with my panting.

When I got home, I just wanted some water, some kibble and laid down to rest.

Yup it was fun and all that, but I'm always so glad to get home too.

That is when I seen Colby, Mylynne and Aurora.  They didn't stay much longer and they all went home again.  Which didn't bother me too much.  I was tired.

I could smell BBQ'ed hot dogs.  I didn't get any.  I was so tired, I didn't care too much.  I just wanted to lay down and rest.

We did get some snow yesterday.  Not a lot.  Definitely not enough for the Big Guy to get out his snow blower.  Talking of Cub Cadet...  2 weeks ago, Tonya did a video, where she was driving around on the Cub Cadet with a unicorn head on.  They had sent this to Cub Cadet to show how much fun they have with the tractor.

Well they sent a "care package" to Tonya and the Big Guy.  2 travel mugs.  2 touques.  Plus a fleece throw blanket.  They all have Cub Cadet on them.  There was also a very nice card with a hand written note in it, thanking us for making them smile.

The Big Guy has laid claim to the fleece throw blanket.

28/Jan/20 rain rain go away, come again another day

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Last week, I came in from outside and I was full of snow.  Today, I'm wet due to the rain.

Now, if you look at the Big Guy, of course he is smiling from ear to ear.

He also took the time to empty half a container of salt across the driveway.  The temp was around +3 yesterday.  So with the heat and the salt, most of the ice that was in the driveway, is gone.

If you read my blog yesterday, you would know that the Big Guy had a mission and that was to go to Sobey's and get a prime rib roast.

He was successful.  The roast is sitting in the freezer.

The Big Guy can remember a time when he could get a front 1/4 a cow for about $400.00.  That was cut and wrapped.  You had to go pick it up.  Now, you would have to put a 2 in front of that number.  ie: $2400.00.  It's no wonder that people in Ontario are paid $15.00 an hour for minimum wage.

Tonya got up early this morning and put me outside for a bit.

Then she cooked the Big Guy some breakfast.

It's in the microwave.

I know the routine.  He is going to eat it and not share any.  Well guess what...  you can't have any of my kibble...  so there!

27/Jan/20 I can see the outside world from this window

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Today, the Big Guy has a mission.

What is that mission, you may ask?

It is to go to Sobey's and pick up a roast beef.

What is so special about a roast beef, you may ask?

It's prime rib.

Sobey's has prime rib roast on for $6.99 a pound.  Normally the price is at least double that.

A few weeks back, Atlantic Superstore had their prime rib on for $4.99 a pound.  Had the Big Guy been thinking, he would have got 2 roasts.

Last time they had a roast like that, Tonya gave me one of the bones to clean up and chew on.  I was able to clean up the outside and get the meat that was left on it, but then, when I started to gnaw on the bone, suddenly I was given a treat and the bone disappeared somewhere.

Just like now.  The Big Guy is cooking some chicken pieces for their lunch.  Not very often will Tonya give up some of her chicken.  Oh and NEVER the bones.  Nope, chicken bones are for the Sea Gulls.

But the other night, they had some chicken wings, and when they were done, in stead of keeping the chicken bones on the counter till the morning, the Big Guy opened up the back door and threw them off the back deck where you walk into the house.

Later on, a fox came by and he ate up all the chicken bones.  So the Sea Gulls didn't get any of the chicken bones the next day.

Hey, did the fox get my beef bone that day?

26/Jan/20 I don't see any treats on the floor

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

So the on going saga of the new food.

I'm not someone that eats at a certain time each day.  I will go past my food dish and I may stop to have few kibbles and move on.  Or I may decide to stand there and gobble up all my food.

Tonya gives me enough of what ever she is eating, for me to survive many meals.  I just need to stare at her and drool.  She gives in a lot.

Sucker!

Now, she wants me to enjoy my new kibble.

Last night, she put some cheese in my food dish to get me to eat my new kibble.

But she didn't shred the cheese.  She just laid it in chunks on top of the kibble.

Well duh...  I didn't have to dig to eat the cheese.  I only needed to sniff around and pick up each piece of cheese that was on TOP of the kibble.

I wasn't really hungry, but cheese is cheese.

Now, if this would have been the Big Guy.

He certainly wouldn't be force feeding me, or trying to trick me.  He would see that the food dish hasn't been touched and he would move on.  Don't want to eat, then don't eat.  You will eat when your hungry.

Good thing Tonya is the push over in this equation.

25/Jan/20 your spot, my heat, your welcome

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

So I had some of my new kibble.  It wasn't bad.  It's not like I charged the food bowl and plowed though it all.  I never do that.  There is always kibble in my bowl so that I can eat when ever I am hungry.

Other humans will leave the food bowl empty till it is time for their dog to eat.  Then, if they don't eat, they remove the food bowl till it's time to eat once again.  Then the dog is really motivated to eat.

My humans just don't do that to me.

There is always food and water down for me to have, any time that I want it.

Tonya will get after the Big Guy for walking past my food station and not checking it for water and kibble.  I think it's his way of saying, your dog, you take care of this.  Your expecting me to take care of this...  well, he wouldn't deliberately see me go without...  but he doesn't go out of his way to make sure I've been fed and watered.

Now...  leave a light on in the room that you just left...  he will notice that.

In the winter, did you leave the inside door open, so that the heat from the house can "bleed" to the outside.  He will notice that.

In the kitchen, did you just leave the fridge door open while your doing something?  He will notice that.

Let me drink all my water.  Will he notice that when he walks by?  Nope.  Not even give it a second glance.

24/Jan/20 why are you making a duck face

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday, the Big Guy went to the kibble store and got me a new bag of kibble.

The people that used to make the previous stuff, they had a program, where you would buy 10 bags of kibble and you would get #11 for free.  Well, they decided that their kibble would stand the test of time and didn't need to have that special.

Well Tonya and the Big Guy aren't going for that at all.

So, now they are on a new kibble, called Farmina.

It may be more expensive, but there is MORE in the bag.  So price per KG evens out.

Also, apparently this new stuff is human grade.

So I can share my kibble with Tonya and the Big Guy now.

They mixed the new kibble with my old kibble, about a 1/2 and 1/2 ratio, until I eat all that up and then I will 100% on the new stuff.

Apparently, the new stuff, you buy 12 bags and #13 is free.

When the Big Guy was talking with the people at the kibble store, he was saying that a lot of people are upset with that company.

The Big Guy wasn't upset.  He said it was their business model.  Nothing they could do about that.

23/Jan/20 she doesn't want me to leave her side

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

So it is rather confusing.

Tonya will call me over to the couch.

She will asking me to get up on the couch with her.

Then, she will motion for me to lay down with her and cuddle.

Then she will start screaming about my elbows digging into her.

Or that I'm too heavy.

My breather stinks.

Geesh, talk about sending mixed messages.

There is this cat that was in the cartoons a long time ago.  His name was Garfield.  He loved lasagna.

The Big Guy made lasagna yesterday.  It had hamburger.  Sausage.  Pepperoni.  Celery.  Carrots.  Green and Yellow peppers.  Mushrooms.  Diced tomatoes.  Tomato sauce.  Beef broth.  A lot of spices.  Lasagna noodles.  Cheese, oh my, lots and lots of cheese. And, then, just to make sure I couldn't have any...  Two onions, cut up and added to the whole lot.

He KNOWS I can't have onions.

He can be such a shit at times.

22/Jan/20 I'm keeping your blanket warm for later

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

So, yesterday I posted these two links so that people would be able to see the video of Tonya snow blowing the yard with her unicorn outfit on.

Well I guess not everyone could see the links.

So, today, the Big Guy is going to be making a YouTube video.  He has to get a few bits done first, but then he will be able to get the video done and it will be able to be shared.

Of course, he is hoping that he will become a YouTube star once this goes viral.

Then again, he had also hoped that the video of me flying would also go viral.  It didn't.  (This will be today's video, down below)

I guess you have to be in the right place and the right time for that to happen.

I heard that my Aunt Elaine, who lives by herself, fell into a the snow the other day.  She was getting her Aunt and Uncle to pick her up to get something or other from the store.  Well her driveway wasn't plowed out.  So, she had to creep down the driveway to get to their car.  As she was making her way down the driveway, she fell, face first into the snow.

Well, as she fell, she also got tangled up in her purse and the walking cane that she has.  From what Tonya tells me, she has quite the black eye from where she fell.

She has since hired someone new to plow out her driveway.

21/Jan/20 the snow is getting rather deep

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

So... did you get to see Tonya out on the Big Guy's snow blower yesterday?  She is a bit of a nut.

I'm not sure if these links are going to work or not, but here goes...

So, this is what originally started her thinking about dressing up...

Then, this is what she does when she gets dressed up...

The Big Guy was also able to put quite a bit of salt on the back steps so that they will no longer slip and fall when going in and out the back door.

The Big Guy can also be so organized when it comes to making stuff for them to eat.  For example...  he made some donair stuff.

He has it in each container, ready to go.  He has two containers of donair meat, then two containers of tomatoes, also the onions and then donair sauce in the front.

Yes, he certainly lives life on the edge...

Now, if it were Tonya...  first off the kitchen would be a disaster zone.  Yes, she would clean it up.  But the Big Guy cleans as he goes a long.  She finds that very enduring about him.

However, you can also stay OUT of the Big Guy's kitchen when he is going to be cooking something.  Do NOT ask if there is anything you can do to help him.  Staying out of his way would be the one thing he would ask.  Keeping him company and having some wine, that would be a big help for him.  I'm sure a lot of you would do that for him.
