31/Dec/17 New Year's eve

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So I'm in Cape Breton with my non-furry Uncle Haas.  Tonya and the Big Guy have given me the slip and have scampered off to Moncton to go do some shopping at Costco.

I guess it is a long trip there and back again.  So much so that they try to do this so that they can also get a visit in.  Well this is a LONG time to be without them.  Who is going to put water in my dish?  Who is going to put more kibble in my bowl?  So many questions...

So far, I've been good.  I've been told that I will NOT recognize the car when it gets home.  They drove away in a Black Flex.  Well I guess it's white from all the salt.  The Big Guy was telling me that he didn't know why the headlights were not working.  Turns out, they were COVERED in salt.  He fixed it when they gassed up.

So I have to wonder, what treats am I going to get when they get home?  A new bone?  A new toy?  Will it be like Christmas all over again?

So may questions...

Oh and the Big Guy was telling me, to tell Jeff and Shaun, he did go to the Paderno store.  Sounds like a weird sounding name for a store.  Oh well, who cares what they call it.  As long as it have treats for me, they can call it what ever they want.

So...  looks like I will be bringing in the New Years with my non-furry Uncle Haas.

Bye bye fur now.

30/Dec/17 thank you for my Christmas present

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

This is my tire.  It has a rope that is fed though the center.  I can play tug of war with it.  I can also sit quietly and chew on the tire or the rope.  Depends on my mood.  Floyd said this tire toy is heavy.  I guess it would be for his dogs.  They are only small compared to me.

We got a little dusting of snow yesterday.  It is also snowing right now.  Just enough to say, "it's snowing outside".  But nothing much is accumulating on the ground.  Again, just enough to make things White again.

They were forecasting for a bit snow storm this weekend, but now it's GONE.  This pleases the Big Guy quite a bit.  Although if you do look at the forecast, you can see that there is a system coming in for Wednesday.  Guess we will see if we actually get that snow.

Of course, I'm hoping we get it. The Big Guy, well, he hopes it misses us.

There was a lot of garbage that was put to the curb yesterday.  But there just wasn't the "quality" garbage that I know and love.  It was mostly Christmas wrapping paper and such.  What a gyp.  So instead of smelly garbage.  It was a little smelly with a lot of paper.   Oh well, it isn't the only garbage day that will happen.  I'm happy that we get one garbage day a week.

Last night, Tonya was drinking Martini's.  With olives.  Guess who got to have an olive.  Yup, I did!  I chewed on it quite a bit.  It was sour.  But since Tonya gave it to me, I figured it must be good.

The Big Guy drank his rum on ice with soda.  Since he is off his diet for this week, I'm surprised that he didn't have a rum and coke.  Then again, he is still trying to avoid sugar.

Only today and tomorrow is left of the year 2017.  The Big Guy is hoping that this year, I will mellow out some what.  We will see how I feel about that.

Bye bye fur now.

29/Dec/17 it's garbage day

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

During our walk yesterday, the Big Guy got to wear his new Ski Pants.  He was so happy that he was able to wear them.  Tonya stayed home.  She thought it was too cold outside to go for a walk.  The Big Guy mostly walked on the road though.  The sidewalks are FULL of ice.  Then again, so is his driveway.  Although yesterday I did see him putting salt on the driveway.

Today is garbage day.  This means that I will get to smell all those wonderful garbage smells.  I can't wait to go for my walk.

Since it isn't so frightfully cold today, I wonder if Tonya is going to go for a walk with us?  She says that we need these devices that attach to your sneakers that have spikes on them.  This will allow you to walk on ice without slipping.

I've been watching the Big Guy and it's that time of year again, where he starts scratching a lot.  That happens every year.  The air gets dry, the water turns "hard" and his skin dries out.  He has this back scratcher where he can reach it.  He knows not to take long hot showers this time of year.  Just wash up and get out of the shower.  There must be some sort of moisturizer he could get for after the shower.  Oh well, his problem, not mine.

The Big Guy got this parcel from Amazon yesterday. It has some controllers in it.  He's pretty excited about it.  He said that he only needs to upload some emulators to his PC and he can play all these older Nintendo games.  I think he is trying to re-live his youth.  He can be a bit weird.

Right now, the Big Guy is cooking this pork picnic ham.  I can smell the smell coming out of the stove.  He says he will be making pulled pork.  But do you think I get any?  NONE!  That is how much I am going to get.

Bye bye fur now.

28/Dec/17 it's really cold outside

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So the Big Guy doesn't want to insult anyone, but it's -14 here.  With the wind chill, it feels like -25 C, or -13 F.  So it's kinda cold outside.  BUT, he knows that this is nothing for some people that live in the Prairies.  But here in Cape Breton, add the humidity to the air.  It makes it feel like it's a lot colder than that.

Tonya said no walks for me today.  But the Big Guy says, a short walk may be in order.  But he will be wearing his new ski pants.

But, without his winter boots, his feet may get a wee bit cold in his sneakers.  He tried on his old combat boots, but his feet don't fit in them any longer.  So that isn't an option and he still can't find that second winter boot.

He was looking at new boots yesterday, but put them back on the rack as they didn't have a price on them.  Perhaps he should go back and see if they can't just tell him the price.

We were supposed to get snow this weekend, but the weather patterns have changed.  So we are only going to be getting cold arctic air.

I hear that there was a lot of people without power this week.  There was high winds this past weekend and a lot of people lost their power due to downed power lines.  As I am out walking, I can see a lot of tree branches that are on the ground.  This isn't good.  There must be a lot of people that are in the cold.

But, I know that I am being taken care of.  My house is warm all the time.  But if ever the power does go out, I am wearing a fur coat.  So I would still be warm.

Bye bye fur now.

27/Dec/17 do you EVER sleep in

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

I try to sleep though the night, every night.  But each morning I am awoken up by the Big Guy sneaking around the house.  Then at some point, FLASH goes the camera.  Today is no different.  He was making coffee and I was just laying in the kitchen.  Then the world turns a dazzling white from the camera flash.

So Tonya got the Big Guy got a new jacket for Christmas.

Tonya said that the stripes are really bright

I had to sniff his new pants

Then I thought he wanted me to sniff his hood

Everything he got on smells "new"

My non-furry Memere got the Big Guy a new set of Ski Pants for when he is snow blowing the yard.  His legs will stay REALLY warm this year.

With the Big Guy owning his new jacket, a few people have asked him if he works at The Wharf for Marine Atlantic.  He tells them, nope, it's his new dog walking jacket.

Last night was also the first time something happened.  They ran out of oil for the furnace.  This is really unusual for them.  Tonya thought they had enough oil to make it through the night.  Well, they were wrong.  But it was also the first time they EVER ran out of oil.

Yesterday Tonya didn't want to walk me as her legs were really sore because of the change in weather.  They both have arthritis.  Although the Big Guy isn't in as much pain due to his weight loss.

Talking of weight loss, the Big Guy has given himself a pass for his Keto WOE until the new year.  Then he is going to go back on it again.  He has a made some meat balls and tonight, he is going to have some pasta noodles.  Something he hasn't had in almost 11 months.

So far, the Big Guy has said, the biggest change, he has the farts a lot more since he came off his Keto WOE.

Bye bye fur now.

26/Dec/17 I'm all holidayed out

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

This is one of the toys that I got from Santa Claus.  I'm not sure who this guy is as I never met him before.  But since he's giving out presents, who am I to judge?  I've been chewing on this toy non-stop.

The power flickered a few time yesterday.  But all in all, we didn't loose the power.  Now, that can't be said for the rest of Nova Scotia.  There was high winds last night and a lot of people were posting on Facebook that they were running their generators to make their own electricity.

Right now, the Big Guy is making Meatballs.  And don't they ever smell GOOD!  I bet he is going to have a few for his breakfast later on.

I got to have some turkey and some pie yesterday.  No potatoes or carrots.  The gravy that the Big Guy made had a lot of onions in it.  So I'm not supposed to have onions.  So I didn't get any gravy.

I can hear the wind howling outside.  With the windchill, it feels like -11.  That is pretty cold out.  I know they Big Guy is going to be having his hood up on his new jacket today.

My non-furry Memere bought the Big Guy a pair of BRIGHT yellow snow pants.  He was pretty happy when he seen them.  He was kinda miserable last year, out in the snow, moving the snow around the yard.  This year, his legs will be warm.

Both Tonya and the Big Guy have work today.  They are not looking forward to going back to work.  Oh well, that happens.  Eventually they will be retired.

Bye bye fur now.

25/Dec/17 Christmas Day

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

You should see this new toy that I got for Christmas.  It's a tire with a rope threaded though it.  I can tell that I'm going to get HOURS of chewing with this.

I got a lot of visitors yesterday.  There is this little guy that showed up.  His name is Bryson.  He makes a lot of noise for such a small person.  Both his parents are allergic to dogs.  But I really wanted to be with Kyle.  He is such a nice guy.  He patted me quite a bit.  But before they left, Elisha was all stuffed up and her nose was running.  She suffers a lot more than Kyle does.  The next house they were going to, they have cats and they are even MORE allergic to cats.

Later on, I got a visit from Meghan, Terry, Haas, Elaine, Clarke, Floyd, Mylynne and Colby.  They all got to open presents.  They were all eating food.  I got to sneak some of the food they were eating.

Terry spent the night on the couch.  I didn't bug him as he looked like he was really comfortable.

So with all the stuff that is still under that tree, there was only a few items that was for me.  Both Tonya and the Big Guy were really generous with the stuff they purchased.

The Big Guy got a set of Batman slippers.  I will NOT be chewing on them, as he has taught me, his slippers are NOT chew toys.  Now, Tonya's slippers.  Well, she hasn't really taught me this.

Well, I've got to go chew on my new tire.  I will see if I can't get the Big Guy to take some pics of my new tire.

Bye bye fur now.

24/Dec/17 Christmas Eve

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Well there is a lot of stuff that is under the tree.

One interesting one that's on the coffee table, is this.

It's a nut cracker.

You lift the tail, put the nut in the "hands" and then lower the tail.  It should open the nut.  So far, they haven't tested it to see if it's just junk or not.

Today, they are going to be hosting the family.  So Tonya is going to be putting out a bunch of food and everyone is going to be coming over.  Not sure if they will be opening their presents or not.  Guess we are going to find out.

We had a bunch of rain last night.  So right now, no snow on the ground.  But it is supposed to snow tomorrow.  So we will be having a White Christmas after all.

We had a visitor last night.  Her name is Meghan.  She is nice.  She said that I am intimidating.  But that's because of my size.  I'm not a small dog.

I'm not sure if the Big Guy is going to be watching any Christmas specials on TV.  I know that his Star Trek will be on again starting next week.  He is anxious to see where the show is "going".  So far, it's not like any Star Trek that he has seen so far.  It's more like Battlestar Galicatica.

Well, gotta go nap for a bit.  Gotta rest up before the family arrives later on and I will not be getting any sleep then.

Bye bye fur now.

23/Dec/17 wearing my poinsettia collar

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

The Big Guy will NOT let me wear this collar in public.  He said it's fine while I'm at home, but I am not going outside with this on.  In the center of the flower is a small bell.  So I jingle a bit when I am walking around the house.

Yesterday I went for a walk and while we were out, we stopped at this Fishing Supplies store that is on Commercial St.  Tonya found the Big Guy a new jacket.  It has reflective stripes on it.  But the Big Guy is not allowed to have it till XMas.  He seems fine with waiting for it.

After a my walk, Tonya and the Big Guy went shopping.  But after that...  I got to go to the Dog Park.  I had a great time there.  Although there was some smaller dog that kept trying to hump me.  His owner was really upset with him for doing that.

When we left, we went to the Four Paws Pet Spa.  I was fine with this until the Big Guy opened the door to the spa.  I could smell the fear off of other dogs that had been in their.  It took a lot of effort on his part to get me into the room.

Once I was in their, I went into the tub without any problems.  He took his jacket off and washed me.  Then he used the blow dryer.  But my fur wasn't all dry.  So I shook off the excess water once he let me out of the tub.  But we were leaving, so he didn't mind me doing that.  We went outside and I shook some more.

So although I thought I was being tortured, it turned out, it wasn't all that bad.  I certainly survived.

Today, we are supposed to get a LOT of rain.  So it will be an early walk, then rest and relaxation for the remainder of the day.

Bye bye fur now.

22/Dec/17 I'm as long as a dishwasher and an oven

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

The other day we went for a walk and we ended up at Brewer's Convenience.  There was a tall guy that was in there and he kinda indicated that he wanted me to jump up.  So I did.  I think I surprised him at how tall I am.  He is about 6 1 or 6 2.  I put my front paws on his shoulders and tried to lick his face.  He didn't pull back, but I really think he was surprised at how big I am.

Tonya got me a new canvas cover for the middle seats of the car.  It fits so much better than the previous one.  It is also washable.  The other one, well, it still works, but leave a little bit to be desired.  It was made for smaller dogs.  This seat cover is made more for SUV's.  Which is what I get drive around in.

Tonya bought me a new piggy.  I haven't chewed the feet off of him just yet.  Normally I just loose my mind and either chew the feet off or I chew the nose off.  So far, this pig has survived me.  But if I get bored.  Well piggy...

The Big Guy was playing around with his XBox last night.  He bought himself a couple new games.  He puts on his headset and ignores me and Tonya.  So I just ignore him when he does this.  Tonya really doesn't put up with this and will bug him.  He doesn't do this often.

It's garbage day today.  I get to go for a walk in the snow and sniff the garbage.  I can't wait!  Fun times!

The Big Guy was telling me that they are going to go purchase a new cordless vacuum so that they can take care of all the fur that I shed.  Good luck with that!  I drop a lot of fur each and every day.

Bye bye fur now.

21/Dec/17 1st day of Winter

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So as of today, the days will start getting longer and the nights will get shorter.

For those of you that live in Cape Breton, did you look outside yet?  It snowed last night.  I can't wait to go outside to enjoy the snow.

The Big Guy has been wearing this shirt and the collar has been bugging him quite a bit.  He can't wait to put a new shirt on later on today.

Last night, Tonya and the Big Guy bought me a new bag of kibble.  They also got me a new car seat protector.  The other one, well, it got ripped up a bit.  This new one, was a wee bit more expensive.  The other one was supposed to be a hammock.  Yea, right.  Me in a hammock?  Those clips would come undone quickly and the cover would be on the floor of the car.  They have to see if this new cover works for them.

They also got me a new feeding station.  This one is a lot more sturdy and is higher than the previous one.  Also the bowls are BIGGER!  This means more water and kibble for me!

Plus the height of the new feeding station will be easier on me.  Otherwise, the food is on the ground.  Where all my fur that fell off also is.  Why would I want to eat my food that's full of fur.

Tonya is going to clean up my old feeding station and give it to Floyd for his dogs.  Hope they enjoy it as much as I did growing up.

Well, it's time to go play in the snow.

Bye bye fur now.

20/Dec/17 I got the blues baby

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Do you ever feel just blue during the Christmas Holidays?  The Big Guy told me this story of when he was in CFS Alert.  The entire camp got S.A.D. once the sun had set.  This would have happened around the middle of October.  He was sitting in the dinning room for lunch.  It would have been around noon and the sun didn't crest the horizon that day.

S.A.D. = Seasonal Affected Disorder

Everyone in the camp was grumpy.  Tempers were quick.  People argued for no reason.  People were sad that they had S.A.D.

This is the longest night of the year, today, tomorrow and the next day.  Although starting on Saturday, the days are going to start getting longer again.  But that doesn't mean we're out of Winter.  No no, were only starting the first day of Winter tomorrow.

It was snowing a little bit yesterday.  That was until about the afternoon, then it changed to rain.

Rain in the Winter is yucky.

But the snow is in the forecast.  Although people do say that they don't like the snow, it brings happiness when it snows.

I don't know about you, but I LOVE the snow.

If it could snow enough for me, but not enough for the Big Guy to use his snowblower.  That would be great!  Then everyone would be happy again!

Bye bye fur now.

19/Dec/17 would you put another log on the fire

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Can you see me in this picture?  I'm looking over the arm of the chair.  There is no fire in the fireplace though.

The Big Guy put me outside this morning.  So far, it's the coldest this season.  It was -7.  I know that other parts of Canada get a lot colder than this.  But for this area of the country, this is about as cold as it gets.

Last night, when we were walking down the driveway, I was jumping and jumping.  I twisted my collar and the links came apart.  This meant that I was FREE.  But I didn't run away.  They put the collar back on me.

We went for a small walk and went to the store where the lady recognized Tonya.  They got a call from the Lotto people that they sold a winning ticket.  We think the store gets 1% of the value of the winning ticket.  They were pretty happy for us.

I didn't see Bailey.  I seen her yard and I know where she lives.  But she wasn't outside last night.  The other dog that lives with her, he doesn't like me at all.

Tonya said that she is going to be bringing me to the vet and I'm gonna get "tutored".  That sounds like fun!  At least I think that's what she said.

I gotta see if I can't go upstairs and wake up Tonya.  I know that she LOVES it when I jump up on the bed and look down at her.  Then I take one of my big paws and brush the hair out of her eyes.  Oh what am I saying...  I stomp on her face.  I think it's a lot of fun!

Bye bye fur now!

18/Dec/17 where is the TV remote

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

This is me doing my impression of the Big Guy.

This is the chair where the Big Guy will sit and watch TV.  Every so often, Tonya will want me to pay attention to what is on TV.  The Big Guy, knows, I may jump up on the TV and knock it over.  He would be very upset if I did that.

BUT, I also know that he would only be a LITTLE upset.  This would mean that he would have to get a new TV.  Probably one that is a smart TV.  Also, one that is a LED and not the plasma TV that is currently there.  He says that once the sun shines on the TV, it washes out the TV and you can't watch it.  Where as the LED TV doesn't get washed out by the sun.

After doing his research, a Plasma TV is good for a basement where there is no natural sun that comes into the basement.  LED TV is good for a living room with lots of natural light.  The things he has learned.

We went for a walk yesterday.  There is a little bit of snow on the ground.  But I tried to lick as much of it as I could.  Tonya thought this was funny.  How I would walk with my mussel on the ground, licking and licking the snow.

It's a wee bit chilly out this morning.  -12 with the wind chill.  But I really don't feel the cold too much.  It has to get colder for me to feel the cold.  I like the winter a lot more than the summer.  I suffer with the summer heat.

Christmas is just around the corner.  I don't see any bones under the tree.  I've been good so far, so I hope that Santa doesn't forget about me.

Bye bye fur now.

17/Dec/17 me at the keyboard

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Here I am, trying to use the computer.

The Big Guy will not get out of the way.

How can this blog get done and out to everyone if he keeps getting in the way?

So it snowed last night.  Not a lot.  But there is snow on the ground.  As the Big Guy is looking outside, he can see that it is still snowing.  I can't wait to go for a walk so that I can try to eat all the snow again.  But it is -7.  That's cold out.  Normally when it's this cold out, you don't get a lot of snow.

Tonya got me some kibble the other day.  It wasn't the same as what I normally get.  It's the same brand and everything.  Only it's for puppies and I'm a big dog now.  The people at the store should have looked up the food that we bought in the past and got something appropriate for her.  They were not helpful for her.

Don't get me wrong.  The puppy food tastes GREAT.  But the kibble pieces are a lot smaller.  With my big mouth, when I am trying to put the kibble in my mouth, pieces are falling out the side.

The Big Guy tried to make tortillas yesterday.  Of course, he made them without flour.  Well he is not putting the tortilla makers out of business.  He did a video and is going to be uploading it later this morning.

Bye bye fur now.

16/Dec/17 I'm awake from my nap

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

I heard the Big Guy creeping around.  Then FLASH!  Another picture.

Did you see what happened yesterday?

They did a road trip WITHOUT ME!

THEN, worst than that...

They had some nom noms without me too.  Fried clams with fries, at John's Lunch in Dartmouth.  I could have had all those fries for them.

I've never been to Dartmouth.

OK, so I guess they will be able to buy me my expensive food now.

They said something about not having the check just yet.  They still have to wait another week.

When they did their road trip, they left me with my Uncle Haas.  He said that he seen ghost with white hair walking up the stairs, going towards the bedrooms.  The Big Guy said that he believes there is a spirit living in his house.  But that he isn't an angry spirit.  Just curious about who we are.

Now that they got all this money.  I wonder if I am going to get a new bone for Christmas this year?

Bye bye fur now.

15/Dec/17 Santa, I'm being a good boy

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So it's Friday.  Do you know what that means?  IT'S GARBAGE DAY!  Oh the sniffs I am going to sniff today!  I can't wait!  Oh joy oh joy!

A sniffing we will go!  A sniffing we will go!
Hei Ho the merry go!  A sniffing we will go! (Sang to the song: A-hunting We Will Go)

I brought my rubber chicken in from outside.  I love the noise that it makes.  Tonya, well, not much.  She hid my chicken and gave me a boomerang instead.  It does make noise, but not as much as the chicken.

Well the Big Guy was complaining yesterday.  He has lost a lot of weight.  But now his jacket, that he used to fill out, well he doesn't fill them out any longer.  His jacket fits over his shoulders and arms.  No problems there.  But his belly isn't as big.  So before, when he had a big belly, he filled the jacket.  But now, there is a lot less belly.  So the wind goes right up the jacket like a wind tunnel.

Tonya says that she will buy him a new winter jacket to hold him over till next season, when his older winter jackets fit once again.  The Big Guy would like to get a winter jacket that has those glow in the dark stripes on them.  So when he is walking me at night, the cars will see him.

We will see what kind of jacket the Big Guy ends up getting.

Tonya is fitting into her older jackets and she is looking fine.  Yes sir!  Very fine!  If I was a human...  oh yea...

Bye bye fur now.
