31/Mar/19 gotta stretch those muscles after sleeping a long time

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Yesterday the Big Guy was quite excited.  He got some new coffee filters.

You wouldn't think that this would be something to get excited about.  But for him, it is.  About 6 months ago, Tonya bought some dollar store coffee filters.  Well, of course they are not expensive.  They were also not quite as tall as the regular filters.

What does this mean?  Well, it meant that every time the Big Guy needs to make a pot of coffee, he also needs to rinse out the basket.  Otherwise, coffee grounds from the previous day, makes it's way into his coffee.

I know, the horrors.

Be faint my beating heart.

So yesterday, after living in silence with this coffee filter affliction, he has finally purchased some new coffee filters.  Taller coffee filters.

Oh, and something else happened yesterday.  The Big Guy also purchased some jam.  Strawberry jam to be specific.  He is going to have a first today.  He is going to have a Peanut Butter and Jam sandwich.

Well, he's going to have a toasted English Muffin with Peanut Butter and Jam.

He has NEVER had that before in his life.

This guy is 57 years old and has NEVER had PB & J before.

We better mark this on the calendar.  It's going to be a red letter day.

30/Mar/19 what do you mean, my paws are wet and not to get on the furniture

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So it's raining outside.  Not that it hasn't rained here before.  But this rain makes the Big Guy super happy.  Your likely asking, why does it make him happy.

Because it isn't snow.

Yes, he really likes new fallen snow.  But then when there is A LOT of snow, he just cringes inside.  He doesn't like getting out the snow blower and the shovel and dealing with the snow.

He's a bit of a broken drum when it comes to snow.  He doesn't have the ability to enjoy Winter like some of us.

So last night, the Big Guy had a hankering for some Fish & Chips.  So they went to Janes for supper.  They had a special on for 2 piece Fish & Chips.  There is this restaurant chain called Deluxe Fries.  Well the Big Guy pretty much grew up with this restaurant.  To him, ALL Fish & Chips are measured against this restaurant.  Of course, nothing comes close to what they make.

But the staff at Janes, they were super busy yesterday.  Which if fine, of course, who wants to cook on a Friday night.  The Big Guy was sorta let down by the Fish & Chips that he had.  Which is fine, of course, he's measuring it against his FAVORITE restaurant.

There was one time, they were on the road to go to Moncton.  Tonya knew that McDonalds had their McLobster Rolls on.  They gassed up in Truro and went to McDonalds.  As Tonya is walking towards McDonalds, she notices that the Big Guy is NOT walking with her.  Nope.  He is walking over to Deluxe Fries.

So he gets his precious Fish & Chips that he loves so much.  He even notices that they have a lobster roll dinner for $12.00.  Eventually, Tonya shows up in the car and she has a McChicken.  The Big Guy looks over at her and asks, why she doesn't have the McLobster that she wanted.  Well, she was in quite the mood and told him, they dicked her around and didn't have any Lobster.  That's when the Big Guy told her, she should have gone to Deluxe Fries.  They got the Lobster Roll dinner.  That he seen 2 people order it and he almost considered ordering it himself.  (Just to rub it in)

Moral of the story.  Next time, go to Deluxe Fries.

29/Mar/19 is your boyfriend hot like me

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Yesterday was not garbage day, but when the Big Guy and I went for our walk, there was people that had already put their garbage outside.  I thought it was a bit early.

The Big Guy thinks, if your going to put your garbage out, the day before, which he doesn't mind, you should at least wait till the sun goes down.

BUT...

Big Garbage week will soon be here.  There will be more shit put out to the curb than you can imagine.  Then, during that week or so, people will be driving around, seeing what they can get out of the garbage and take home with them.

Tonya and the Big Guy are both guilty of this.  Although they didn't drive around with the only purpose of dumpster diving.  They were just on the road and happened to see something that would catch their eye.

Last year, the Big Guy went though his garage, and he brought out A LOT of stuff to be put to the curb.  It was mostly wet stuff and also stuff that the squirrels had gone though.  That is when the also got a new roof on the garage.  So that is fixed now.  The Big Guy was saying, soon enough, he's going to need a new rolling door on the garage.  But, so far, this door is still working, so no door just yet.  Perhaps when they are getting their renovations done on the house.  That is still a couple years away.  They need new siding and windows.  Tonya would also like to get the back deck extended.  The Big Guy likes that idea.

The Garbage people are going to come and collect the garbage before my walk time today.  I can't complain, that is their job after all.

28/Mar/19 stop saying I've got big paws

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

If you look at this picture, that tile, it's 12 inches across.  My paw is at least 2 inches wide, if not more.

The Big Guy isn't sure why he is so thirsty today.  He is sure that he had enough to drink last night.  Tonya got a new bottle of wine for them to try.  He agreed, it was nice.  It was White Wine, which is a change of pace from their normal red wine that they purchase.

The Big Guy will be taking the car to the Ford Dealership to get the brakes serviced.  Ford has a schedule that they follow when servicing the car.  He is normally pretty good about following their recommendations as he doesn't want the warranty to lapse.

Tonya bought the Big Guy some frozen cherries and he hasn't been eating them.  Well this morning, he took some out of the freezer and put them in a bowl.  I'm not sure if I can eat cherries or not.  I'm going to say yes, but likely only a few.

I just checked, and the answer is yes, but to avoid stems and pits.  They have cyanide in them.  That can't be good for humans either.

Either way, I'm not likely to get any of the Big Guy's cherries.  He doesn't really share like that.

Now, I've also seen the Big Guy putting out hamburger, onions and some cut up tomatoes on the counter.  This means he will be making, what he calls "Mum's Macaroni".  Although most people call it goulash.  Tonya always makes her goulash with cheese.  The Big Guy really likes her goulash.

I just checked the weather.  It would seem that March is going to go out like a lamb.  It also came in like a lamb.  But there was a weather system that came in on the 3rd of March.  So was that the lion?  There is also a storm coming up on the 1st of April.  So would that be considered a lion?  Either way, there was no storm on the 1st of March and no storm for the 31st of March.

27/Mar/19 can I encourage you to take the picture when I'm awake

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

There really isn't a lot going on in my life right now.  It's that in between time.  It's not Winter any longer, but it sure isn't Spring yet either.

It's way too muddy to go to the doggie park, as it's way too muddy.  Then again, I could go, but then I also get to go to the pet spa to get washed up.

The middle of the car is a complete disaster.  There is mud and fur all over the middle of the car.  That will take several hours to clean up.

Then there is the drool that goes down the side of the car.  This happens when Tonya opens the window for me.

I'm not sure what damage the drool is doing to the paint of the car, but Tonya really doesn't care.

I want the window open and I will bug and bug and bug until she opens the window.

I always seem to get what I want with her.

The Big Guy was taking notice that there is this tree that is next to his garage, that he thought he "fixed" last year.  Well, it's growing again.  He says that he will need some epsom salt and his drill.  He will drill more than several holes in the top of the tree stump and then pour a lot of salt onto the stump to help rot the stump and prevent it from growing.  This is a very determined tree.

Then, he says that he has two more trees that have to be dealt with.  They should be the last two trees that he will deal with.  Every other tree, can be managed.  So far.  All the other stuff, well, they are just hedges.  They can be trimmed.

Max our Bernese Mountain Dog is home after being neutered

26/Mar/19 there was once upon a time, this handsome doggie...

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

It's been three days in a row now, that I've been gone for a walk.

There is a pair of doggies that lives around the corner from where I live.  That's our new family Doctor that lives there.  Anyways, he has these two poodles.  They always bark at me.

They have been missing for the longest time.  But I'm happy to say, they are both back again.  I've only seen them out being walked a few times.  Mostly, they just run around the yard and bark at every dog that goes past.

There was another BMD that lived in the same block as me, but only at the other end of the block.  He's been gone for a long time.  Apparently they moved to Sydney Mines.  I don't know where, as I've never seen him again.  His name was also "Max".  But he was smaller than me

Then there is Bailey.  She was a half breed.  I haven't seen her in a long time.  She lived with this other dog.  He wasn't friendly at all.  I was supposed to make babies with Bailey, but that didn't work out.  The owner didn't stay in touch and I got neutered.

Yesterday, the Big Guy had his very first, peanut butter and banana sandwich.  He said that it was alright.  But honestly, nothing to get all that excited about.

Something else that the Big Guy has never had, peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  Again, not that he doesn't want to, but just something that just hasn't happened.  He rarely ever has jelly on his toast, so it's not like they got jelly in the fridge, or the cupboards for him to have one of those sandwiches.

He said that this really isn't on his "bucket list" of items to have.

25/Mar/19 do you think people will think I'm famous with these glasses

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Yesterday it was quite nice out.  Nice enough, that Tonya and the Big Guy were out on the back deck for several hours.

Later on, they even had steak.  There was a bone in the steaks.  I was hoping that I would get to chew on the bone.  Oh course that didn't happen.

I got to go for another walk with the Big Guy.  I'm hoping that means that his foot is all better and that I will be going for walks a lot more often now.

Tonya was saying that I've got to be brushed to get my under fur off my body.  Ahhh...  before we break out the brushes, can we at least acknowledge that it's still cold outside and that I still need that fur for when I go outside.  I do got two coats.  My under fur and then the longer fur that you see.  My under fur is what keeps me warm, when I go outside in the snow.

March break is over for the kids and they will be back in school today.  With all the snow banks gone, it will be so much easier for the kids to get back and forth now.

Tonya had found this old mp3 player.  But the battery is done and will no longer charge.  Tonya was sad about this.  She really wanted that to work.  Then she would have listened to music on a headset, while she was cleaning the house.

Here is another picture of myself and Tonya.

I'm telling you, it was really nice being outside with my humans again.

24/Mar/19 the food dish, it isn't going to fill itself

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

The Big Guy slept in today.  That's not like him at all.  Normally he is up well before me.  Not today, today, I met him by the stairs as I wanted to go outside for a bit.

So...  big news...  the Big Guy was able to take me for a walk yesterday.  It was the first time in about 3 weeks or more.  His foot is finally feeling a lot better.

Normally when I come inside, I go right to the counter and raise my nose and sniff.  I sniff hard too.

But sometimes, I can SEE stuff up on the counter.

The other day, they had wings and they left the bones up on the counter.

That friggin camera in the kitchen caught me.

I can't get away with anything now.

Of course, because of my size, I'm not what you would consider "stealthy".  They had left some of the cutlery in the way.

It was like ringing Big Ben in London.  Or like that guy in Das Boot, when he yells down from the Conning Tower:  ALARM!

Both Tonya and the Big Guy came into the kitchen.  By then, I had scampered out to the dining room.  When I went back later, I could smell the bones, but couldn't see them.  Here they had put them in a bowl, and left it in the sink.  No way I can reach into the sink and get those bones.

If you recall, last year, the Big Guy had a shit fit about some missing hot dogs.  Did you want to see that post again?  See this link: https://mitchcormier.blogspot.com/2017/08/emergency-hot-dogs-are-missing.html

So, we will see how far we can go for a walk today.  I'm hoping a little father than yesterday.  We will see.
