Good morning world.
Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.
So, on my kick for the past. Something else that call phones do. They will play music.
50 years ago, they were finally getting rid of the 78 speed records. Now, they had LP's. Or, "Long Playing" albums. These albums were made of vinyl. They would create a master and would press them down onto the hot vinyl.
Back in the day, the Big Guy would save up his money for K*Tel records.
How his father would hate his music. Which isn't much different than the Big Guy and his dislike for rap music. He does find that today's music is shit. Just like his father used to think that the Big Guy's music would rot your brains.
But, enough about the quality of the music.
Back then, you didn't have a lot of music selection, as you would now.
So, there was stores devoted to just selling records. You could get a 45 of your favorite song. Normally the flip side was some other crappy song. One side definitely got played a lot more than the other.
Then, you had to worry about scratching your record. You younger siblings would screw up your record and put dust on it. During the play back, there was clicks and pops of the dirt that was in the grooves of your record.
There was also the needle, that would have to be replaced. If you had a high end system, you had a diamond needle. Oh my...
Now, people seem to be bringing the vinyl records back out. Not out of nostalgia, but because people say the sound is richer and has more depth.
Which is fine. But, right now, the Big Guy has about a thousand songs on his cell phone. He has this BlueTooth speaker and everything is VERY portable. Oh, and if he gets bored with those songs, he can listen to music streaming services, right from his phone.
What a magical world we live in.
