30/Apr/22 fish is really good

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Tonya went to the store and got some fish.  Haddock I think.  The Big Guy made some fish and chips.

During the process, the fish was falling apart.  Not quite what the Big Guy had expected.

So, there was a lot of little pieces that were cooked up.

Because there was left overs, Tonya put some in my food dish.

Oh my...

I see why this is the Big Guy's go to meal when he goes out for lunch.

Fish is wonderful.

There was the pieces of batter that was also added to my food dish.

I could smell them, but I couldn't see them.

So...

I ate everything in my food dish.  Kibble and all.

Then, I had to lay down to give my stomach a chance to digest my food.

Yummy!

I hope the Big Guy can make some more some day soon.

29/Apr/22 Sunshine & Rainbows

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The weather cooperated enough that Tonya and the Big Guy were able to sit outside for a bit yesterday.

They had to go to the bank to deal with some fraud that happened on their account.

I don't have an account, so I don't have to worry about all that.

My biggest concern...

Is there kibble in my food dish.

If the answer is yes, then my world moves on.

The second biggest item, is there water in the water dish.

If the answer is yes, then, everything is OK.

I've seen my water dish go empty.

This means that Tonya will yell at the Big Guy for not paying attention.

He gives her a look that says, you wanted him, you make sure he is taken care of.

I'm not sure what that means.

The Big Guy has put water and kibble out for me in the past.

Not all the time mind you, but sometimes...

Yesterday the Big Guy was bitchin that his shoulder was sore.

Today, it's a little bit of his shoulder, but now, more at his kidneys.

He says that getting old, sucks.

Tonya was saying, we got oil delivered.  We use that to heat the house and also to make hot water.

The oil was $1.89 a litre.

She says that it will go over $2.00 before too long.

I'm just glad that they can afford to heat the house.

Yes, I do wear a fur jacket all the time, but still, I wouldn't want to be cold all the time.

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Big Guy has done something to his shoulder.  He isn't sure what, but it's sore.  Sore enough that it has disturbed his sleep last night.

He has taken some pills for the pain and is hoping that he will be able to have a nap on the couch.  He will not be laying down.  He will sit up and rest his head on the back of the couch.

I've seen him sleeping in some pretty strange positions.

26/Apr/22 I'm going to lay in the way

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Big Guy will often want to go to the kitchen when he is in the living room.

There is two ways to get to the kitchen from the living room.

You can go through the nook via the dining room.

Or you can go through what they call the library via the front entrance of the house.

Either way, you end up in the kitchen.

I am a big boy and when I lay on the ground, you best be thinking about going the other way.

When Tonya gets up, I jump up as I am wondering if she is going to the kitchen to get a snack or a treat for me.

(Don't tell the Big Guy that she does this)

When the Big Guy gets up, I will just lay there.

Now, if he has his "determined face" on, I know, it's just best to get up and get out of the way.

Otherwise, he will go around.

I know, when he goes to the kitchen, I don't need to follow as I am not getting anything from him.

I will listen to see if anything gets dropped into my food dish.  That would be the only indication that he is giving me a treat.

Then and only then, will I willing get up to go see what is going on.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Something that I do, just about every time that Tonya has something to eat, is just stare at her.

It gives her the "heebee-geebees".

Yesterday it worked.

She gave me some of what she was eating.

There is this program that the Big Guy tapes each week.  It's called "The Curse of Oak Island".

They have been trying to find this gold now for a very long time.

Each week, nothing.

No gold.

Why he keeps watching it is a mystery.

Perhaps cause it's something that is happening in Nova Scotia.

Only a few hours down the road from where he grew up.

But, each week, they say that they will continue to try.

I guess it's like me, when I stare at the Big Guy in hopes that he will give me some of his meal.

24/Apr/22 it snowed last night

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The snow isn't sticking around for very long.

Right now, the snow that fell, is only on the roofs of some houses and on the car.

The snow that fell on the grass and the pavement, well, it's gone.

The Big Guy is pretty sure, he will be able to put the lawn mower attachment on his garden tractor.

Tonya has invited the grand children over for brunch.

I guess that would be breakfast at lunch.

The Big Guy is expected to make pancakes.

Guess who can have pancakes.

Yup, that would be me.

With butter and hopefully some syrup.

YUMMY!!

I know that they will put way too much stuff on their grand kids plate and I will get it.

I can hardly wait...

23/Apr/22 fish cakes and beans

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday, the Big Guy made up a batch of fish cakes.

Yup, they do look pretty good, don't they?

Tonya insisted that fish cakes are served with beans.

The Big Guy made up a pot of home made beans too.

He tried it and he was surprised that they do taste pretty good together.

Of course, I sat and watched them eating.  

I was patient.

Tonya finished her plate.

She didn't share.

Like...  WTF??

So, I went over to the Big Guy in hopes that he would sare.

He normally doesn't, but if you don't try, you will never get anywhere.

Turns out, he didn't share.

Tonya made a meat loaf the other day.

I heard the Big Guy getting on about having a meat loaf sandwich.

You know there is about a zero percent chance that I will get any of his sandwich.

But...

I will sit and watch him eat.

It's what I do.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Big Guy works upstairs when he is at work.

I raced him upstairs.

I won.

Today, he is going to be making homemade baked beans.  He will also be having fish cakes.  Yes, they will be homemade too.

The Big Guy has been in the Navy for 25 years.

In all that time, he has has a lot of different meals.

Cape Breton is the only place he has been to where they will have fish cakes and beans.  

Together.

He has to wonder.

If they were in the Prairies, would they have perogies with their fish cakes?

These are things that keep the Big Guy awake at night.

Good morning world.

The Big Guy was pretty active as a child.

He used to go outside to play:

Hide n Seek

Red Rover

All Around the World

Dinkies - he would save his Hot Wheels for inside only.

Then, some "lesser" games:

Mother May I

Red Light, Green Light

Simon Says

If it was raining outside, he could have a friend over.

They would play:

Hot Wheels, with tracks and stuff

Monopoly and a few other board games

Something that a lot of other kids would have that he didn't.  

Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches.

He would only have peanut butter sandwiches.

No jelly.

Even as an adult, he may have peanut butter toast.

He has tried jelly, but it just doesn't appeal to him to have both peanut butter AND jelly together.

Myself...

I would have both.

Separate or together.  I would be OK with that.

20/Apr/22 I am hiding from the rain and wind

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

It's a bit nasty outside.

I can hear the wind howling.

I can also hear the rain falling.

I am not a big fan of nasty weather.

But other parts of the province had it worst than us.

The Big Guy was looking at the power outage maps and he was seeing that there was a lot of power that was out around Yarmouth.

That is the other end of Nova Scotia.

I've never been there.

But, Lotto Max was 60 million dollars last night.

If we win, apparently I will be getting the chance to see a lot of stuff.

The Big Guy said, ROAD TRIP!!

Tonya said that the Big Guy will get a new truck with a 5th wheel trailer.

The Big Guy would much prefer an electric truck, but, one item at a time.

With 60 million dollars, I think he could have several vehicles.

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday the Big Guy made a Turkey Pot Pie, as promised.

No cranberry sauce was harmed in the making of the pie.

It was the first time that he tried to make a pie with letters on it.

Tonya had the "pie" part and the Big Guy had the part with the "T" from the pot.

Tonya took more than what she knew she would eat.

I got quite a bit of the crust.

She puts ketchup on her stuff.  

Which is good for me.

The Big Guy doesn't put ketchup on his turkey pot pie.

He knew that Tonya had ketchup on it, and didn't mind too much when Tonya was putting the left overs in my food dish.

It wasn't just yummy, it was spectacular.

The Big Guy still has a lot of turkey left over.

He say that he is going to freeze the left over and will have turkey for another day.

He could make like two freezer bags.

That way, they could have hot turkey sandwiches one day and turkey pie, or turkey stew another day.

I hope there is enough for me too.

18/Apr/22 battery is fully charged

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday was Easter.

Your supposed to have turkey on Easter Sunday.

I'm not sure who says that.  But, not to fall out of tradition, we had turkey yesterday.

The Big Guy always cooks his turkey from frozen.

He doesn't really remember the last time he didn't cook his turkey from frozen.

Oh wait...

He remembers...

It was the time that he put the turkey in the smoker.

Tonya said, never again.  

So, no more smoked turkey for the Big Guy.

Sometimes, when the Big Guy is taking the turkey off the bones, he will give me some turkey.

Yesterday, when he was boning the turkey, I decided to go for a nap.

I had to wait for Tonya to have her turkey supper and then she put some of her supper into my food dish.

Tonya also put some cranberry sauce on the Big Guy's plate that she had done up.  

Since they have been together.  He has never put cranberry sauce on his plate.

He did appreciate that she had put the cranberry sauce on his plate.  

He ate around it.

Eventually Tonya noticed that he didn't touch the cranberry sauce.

The Big Guy is pretty sure that if the creator had wanted turkey to taste like cranberry, he would have colored them purple and hung them in trees.

They will be together now for 30 years.

You would think she would have known, he hasn't put cranberry sauce on his plate in all that time.

Then again, she didn't salt any of his food.

She wants him to stick around.  

Oh well, there was enough salt that was in the butter that made the gravy.
