Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I only give hugs to Tonya.

No one else.

It's like she needs me to hug her.

What ever snow we got on the ground, will be gone soon.

Today, it's supposed to get up to +10 C.

Have you looked at the tree that's behind me?

It's really glowing.

Now, look at the reflection of the tree in the French Door that's behind Tonya.

You can see the individual lights.

Today, is the last day of 2022.

I think in some parts of the world, it's already 2023.

Everyone is saying that they hope 2023 is going to be better.

Who wouldn't want that?

Tonya has joined Weight Watchers and she is getting the Big Guy to join as well.

He has a lot of weight he has to loose, so of course, he is going to do that along with her.

He was looking online and there is a lot of recipes that have already been posted.

He believes, it's kind of a modification of the Keto WOE.

He is going to miss chips.

But he will be better for it.

30/Dec/22 I'm eyeballing those slippers

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Now that the Big Guy and Tonya are both working from home, I can go visit with them while they are at work.

But, I'm not allowed to bark.

I also can't be bugging to be patted.

i can lay quietly though.

It's nice to have them both home.

The Big Guy was cooking up a storm yesterday.

He was making this shrimp, sausages, pasta thingy.

It smelled so good too.

Human food does smell wonderful.

We got a little bit of snow on the ground.

But, the weather forecast doesn't look so good for the snow.

As a matter of fact, it's looking like it's almost sitting outside weather.

Now, the Big Guy is off work today.

I wonder what his plans are for supper?

Knowing him, something with onions in it.

That way, I can't have what ever it is he is making.

I can hear the garbage trucks in the neighborhood.

I would imagine, they want to get an early start on the day so that they can have an early finish.

29/Dec/22 are going to eat that

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

In the wild, the baby bear will watch to see what the momma bear eats.

Then, the baby bears will know what is safe to eat.

When Tonya eats, I watch her too.

There has been stuff that she has eaten.

It's nasty.

Pickles.

Lemons.

There are some other stuff as well.

She does find that I snap the food from her fingers.

I know my Memere has these little forlks.

She uses them when she has cheesies.

That way, she doesn't get the cheesie dust on her fingers.

I bet I would snap that little fork right out of Tonya's hands if she would try that on me.

The Big Guy did something to hurt his knee.

These new slippers he got, they are not the same as the previous slippers he has.

He has to think, perhaps because of the way he walks in them, did he hurt his knee?

I don't have that problem.

At least not yet.

28/Dec/22 my winter boots have fur on them

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I am happy to say, that it snowed.

Not a lot.

The correct amount for the Big Guy.

Which means enough to say that we got snow, but not enough for him to get out the snow blower or the shovel.

The Big Guy made that turkey pie.

Not sure what to call it though, cause it also had ham in it.

Wait...

A club house sandwich.

It has turkey and bacon.

Bacon is ham.

Cranberries are sweet.

I guess the name would be: Sweet Club House Pie.

It's as good as any other name.

The Big Guy's new slippers are fitting better, now that he has broken them in.

He does find that he walks differently when he has them on.

He just has to get used to them.

Same with the weighted blanket they got for their bed.

He said, its like having about 5 or 6 quits on top of him while he is in the bed.

Tonya said, she sleeps a lot better.

The Big Guy is still getting used to it.

27/Dec/22 the tree is pretty much glowing

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Big Guy got these light bulbs that he can control with his voice.

Look, he is just over the top happy with these light bulbs.

He wants to get a lot more of them.

He can also control these lights from his phone.

He can make them shine in different colors.

He loves technology.

Tonya doesn't love technology quite as much as the Big Guy.

But she is coming along with it.

Tonya told the Big Guy, all the left overs from Christmas dinner, please make a pie from it.

He said, everything?

Yes, everything.  Including the left over ham and the left over cranberry sauce.

He thinks this is weird, but ok.

Tonya said the cranberry sauce is sweet.

The ham is salty.

The two compliment each other.

Then there is his gravy.

Apparently, it one of his better ones.

I'm sure if I bug Tonya enough, I will get some.

He is wondering if there is another box of Stove Top Stuffing to add to his pie.

Weirdo.

26/Dec/22 time to clean up the gift wrapping

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday, there was lot of people that visited.

The first two to arrive was Clarke and Elaine.

Then, Craig showed up.

Lastly, it was Aurora, Colby, Mylynne and little Floyd.

Without notice, Floyd showed up.

Then, Terry showed up, but he wasn't feeling very good.

He sat in the corner of the living room and went to sleep.

Aurora helped open all the gifts.  Even if they were not hers.

The Big Guy got new slippers, but he says they don't fit.  But he thinks he got an idea about that.

The Big Guy loves his remote controlled lights.  He was able to make them go full bright by just speaking a command.

Yesterday morning, the Big Guy got up early and cooked the ham and the turkey.

He was able to cut up the ham and get that put aside.

He was able to bone the turkey and put the big bones in the green bin.

The smaller bones and other stuff, that went out to the sea gulls.

When the Big Guy cooks his turkey, he alternates a carrot and celery stick.  So the turkey is essentially elevated when it's cooking.  Of course he also throws in a cut up onion.

This adds to the flavour of the gravy he makes.

Yesterday, he found the gravy was thin.  But Tonya said, it was just the opposite, it was actually just right and very tasty.  So much so, Mylynne wanted extra gravy over everything.

Now, they will have left overs for the next few days.

Everyone ate pretty much what was put on their plates.  So I didn't get a lot of left overs to be put in my food dish.

Last week, Tonya got me a new toy for Christmas.

Her and Clarke were paying attention to the Christmas Tree and not on me.

I took my new toy and promptly tore it apart.

Tonya got upset, but what can she do?

Of course it went in the garbage.

Last night, Tonya took the time to wrap up all the Christmas Presents.

We are supposed to have a lot of people over today.

Elaine, Clarke, Terry, Haas, Craig, Floyd, Mylynne, Colby, Aurora, and Little Floyd.

The table only seats 8.

I bet Tonya would want the Big Guy to fetch another table and some more chairs.

It's going to be hard for me to wait to get the left overs.

Tonya is getting the Big Guy to make a ham, plus a turkey.

Of course there will be veggies.

Then the pickles that her family likes so much.

The pickle business would go out of business if they had to rely on the Big Guy.

Same with me.

I know they are going to mix up their left overs and there will be pickles in it.

Which is fine.

I will chow down on it all.

Then, I will have to find a corner and nap.

24 Dec 22 well it did rain

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Big Guy was watching the news yesterday.

There is a lot of people that are not going to make it home for Christmas this year.

This storm didn't effect us as bad as what they thought it might.

Yes, it's very windy.

Yes, it rained.  

A lot.

It's still raining.

The windows on this house, well, they are not really that efficient.

I can feel the cold air creeping across the desk that I'm at.

I'm not looking forward to going outside for a pee later.

The Big Guy was also looking at the weather network.

This storm is supposed to blow over and be done by 9 this morning.

The Big Guy also looked at the power outage map.

This time, the people without power, is about equal through all parts of Nova Scotia.

The last storm, it was mostly Cape Breton that got hit.

I think I will hold my pee and just wait for the storm to be done.

At least for now.

Gaaaa...  I really got to pee.

We got 3 different weather warnings right now.

High winds.  We are expecting winds gusting over 90 kph today.

Rain fall.  We could be getting in excess of 40 mm of rain.

Storm Surge.  That would be over land flooding.

Tonya wants the Big Guy to get a generator for the house.

With all the power lines that are getting replaced, soon enough, all the trees will be cut down and all the powers lines will be new.

Having said that, if the Big Guy gets his way, when he gets his new vehicle, it will be a battery electric vehicle.  Or a BEV.

Those vehicles will create what's known as a virtual power plant.  They can charge at night, when the power rates are cheaper, but they can also put power back onto the grid during high demand.

Normally, the power meter runs in reverse.  You can set how much power you want to provide back to the grid.  But you also get paid for doing this.

Then, when you know you got a storm coming up, you turn the virtual power plant off on the vehicle, keeping the power to yourself in the vehicle.

Then, once the storm knocks out the power, your vehicle and power the house.

As long as internet hasn't gone down, you can still work from home.

You set how much you want to hold in reserve, so that you can disconnect the vehicle, go find a charging station, come back, plug back into the house to continue providing power to the home.

This is all very fancy and what not.

This all has upfront costs.

Nothing good is cheap.

Just as long as I get my kibble, the Big Guy can do what ever it is he wants.

22/Dec/22 I even drool when I'm sleeping

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday was a little like Early Christmas for the Big Guy.

He got his new Echo Dot Mini.

He didn't measure the holder that he bought.

The height of the plug and the height of the counter, doesn't work well with the holder he bought.

But, when he turned the holder upside down, it got pinched between the bottom of the shelf above the plug.

So, it's kinda where he wants it.

Now, when he goes downstairs to make coffee, he tells the unit: Computer, good morning.

Yea, he programmed it to reply to the wake word: Computer.

But it will give him the weather, tell him some thing new, read the news.  Tell him about the commute to work, and then give him some news highlights from CBC news.

It's kinda funny, as work is only 5 minutes away.

There is no real traffic reports for it to talk about.  But it tries.

Tonya said, come January, both herself and the Big Guy are going to start Weight Watchers.

The Big Guy does have his device in the living room, pause the TV and then tells him to walk laps around the house.

Today, the Big Guy has also got to see if they got that belt for him for his snow blower.

It has to get replaced before they get caught without a snow blower.

So far, it's only rain in the forecast.
