31/Oct/22 there is going to be trick or treaters

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

For some reason, the people of Cape Breton, associate Halloween with Fireworks.

I guess they are trying to make a new firework that doesn't have a BANG when it goes off.

Knowing humans, I can't see that being a big seller.

Tonight, I'm going to be hanging out with the Big Guy on the couch.

I am sure he is going to protect me.

My Memere is back in Moncton.

She came for a quick visit.

She has the poppy campaign that she works for the Legion.

She will go sit in the Liquor Store and say hello to people as they are buying a poppy for their jacket or hat.

After Remembrance Day, then people will slowly start decorating their houses for Christmas.

The Big Guy told me, when he lived in Winnipeg, it was against the rules to light up your Christmas decorations before they had their Christmas parade.

The Big Guy thought this was a dumb assed rule and didn't follow it.

He would put his decorations up about the last week of November and then turn them on.

His next door neighbor would remind him about the rule.

His Christmas lights stayed on.

The Big Guy thought this was a bullshit rule.

No one stopped him.

No other neighbors told him anything about having his lights turned on early.

30/Oct/22 quality control dog visits workplace

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Every so often, I will go upstairs and see what the Big Guy is up to.

Is he really working?

Well, he is definitely sitting at the computer.

Is he working?

Well, every so often, he will start talking with someone.

Because I have super sensitive hearing, I will hear something is going on.

But, otherwise, he is kind boring.

He will pat me and pretty much tell me to go lay down.

Doesn't he know, I want to play?

He also doesn't snack much while he is working.

Trying to mooch something off him while he is working is not something that is very successful.

He has some candy upstairs with him.

It is called Pez.

He got it last year from his work.

But it's empty now.

I don't get much stuff from him.

There is an exception though.

He will give me a hard time.

He will chase me around the deck with my brush and pull at my fur.

I guess you could say that I'm molting.

But sometimes it is more molting than normal.

This means a lot of fur around the house.

Tonya will often comment that she can build another dog.

Is that McDonalds that I smell?

Memere just walked in with a Big Mac for the Big Guy.

Gotta see if I can pinch a few fries from him.

29/Oct/22 laying quietly

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

As you can see, my Memere came for a visit.

She is a little bit scared of me.

She will pat me.

But I'm definitely not allowed to lick her hand or stuff like that.

If you also follow my blog on Facebook, you will see that it was Little Floyd's 2nd birthday yesterday.

One of the links that are there because the video is too long for Facebook to post.

During their visit, the Big Guy took his Beef Brisket out of the oven and put it on the stove.

Floyd, Little Floyd's father was in the kitchen and he took a peek at what was on the stove top.

He cut a chunk out of the brisket.

Aurora took some of the chunks and was walking around the house.

She was eating early.

I was following her.

I wanted to taste test the brisket too.

I wanted to see if it was any good.

She dropped a few of the pieces she had in her hands.

I gobbled them right up.

Later on, after they were done eating, I got to have what they didn't eat.

Yummy!

28/Oct/22 why do we give away the candy

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Tonya came home with two big boxes of chips.

I love chips.

She also has a box of chocolate bars.

Not big ones, but a variety of small ones.

When the trick or treaters come by on Halloween, they are going to get a chocolate bar and a bag of chips.

I personally hope we don't get a lot of kids.

That will allow me to get some of those chips.

Tonya shares her chips with me.

Not that she has a lot of choice.

When she gets the bag, I can hear it.

I come on the run.

Or, I could be laying in the living room as they are watching TV.

Then, I will get my mouth as close to the open bag of chips as I possibly can.

If she takes more than one chip at a time, one may slip out of her hands and it falls.

I catch the chip as it's falling.

But she also makes me wait.

That is when I get snappy when I taking the chip from her.

Sometimes, her fingers get in the way.

I'm under no such illusion that the Big Guy will allow any of his chips fall out of his fingers.

Also, he doesn't feed me his junk food at all.

He doesn't even allow me to lick his fingers.

Just wait...

They are going to turn their back on me and I will get my own bag of chips.

27/Oct/22 summer doesn't want to let go

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Although it is Fall, and it is almost Halloween, you would think that the day time temperature would reflect this.

Nope.

Yesterday, it was +23 C with a feel like temperature of +27 C.

That is Summer temperatures.

Is this part and parcel with this Global Warming we hear so much about on TV?

I know a lot of people would seem to prefer that we burn coal, or oil, to make electricity for everyone.

I suspect they work in that industry.

The Big Guy would like to see a lot more wind and solar.

The Big Oil people say that solar doesn't work at night.

The Big Oil people say that wind doesn't always blow.

Ummm...  Hello...

Batteries.

From recycled electric cars.

It's the transition that is expensive.

Of course the Big Guy would love to have solar panels on his roof, with a couple battery packs in the basement.

During Hurricane Fiona, they lost power for 5 days.

Believe it or not, but there is still people out there that still don't have power from Hurricane Fiona and that was a month ago.

I hope they can get their power restored really quick.

26/Oct/22 these shovels find the cool dirt

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

In the Summer, when it was warm outside, I would go on the side of the deck and paw at the earth.

I would dig a hole and I would lie in it.

The cool earth was cold on my belly.

But, Tonya has these plants that are on the side of the front deck.

I should say, had.

Now, she has a hole.

Last night, and I could hardly believe my eyes...  they had left overs.

Normally, left overs is something they have for lunch.

If the Big Guy really liked what they had the night before, he will even have it for breakfast.

Like pizza.

Funny how pizza can be for supper.

It can also be a late night snack.

It can also be breakfast.

When the Big Guy and Tonya go to work, they will often bring it in for lunch.

What a versatile food.

I mostly get the crust.

I never get the crust from the Big Guy.

I also never get a whole slice of pizza for myself.

First off, how in the heck do you think I would hold it?

25/Oct/22 please continue to scratch me

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

It is my molting season.

I am dropping clumps of fur all over the house.

When we go outside, it would seem that one of them will start patting me and holding me into position, while the other one picks at my fur that is on my hind quarters.

Eventually, the fact that my fur is being pulled right out of my body, gets my attention.

Then, they throw my fur off the deck and it goes into the wind.

Tonya will go around the house and she will put my fur into the garbage.

The Big Guy, he will also go around the house, vacuum up my fur.  But then he will empty the canister off the deck.

It's not like birds are building their nests at time time of year.

BUT...

There are insects, like bees, that are hibernating.

My fur may make it's way to a corner where they are sleeping.

It may insulate them from the cold weather that we are going to be getting.

Then, next Spring, when the wake up, they need to find flowers to start gathering their pollen.

Normally, the Big Guy waits for the dandelions to go to seed before he mows the lawn for the first time of the year.

He is either lazy.

Or...

He is just helping the bees.

He says it's for the bees.

24/Oct/22 no snow in Cape Breton

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Big Guy's oldest daughter lives in Swift Current Saskatchewan.

She posted pictures of the snow they got.2 1/2 feet of wet snow.

That is the snow that kills people.

Due to how heavy it is.

People aren't ready for the extreme work out.

Talking of which, the Big Guy should have used yesterday's nice weather to flip the lawn mower to a snow thrower.

Oh well, he doesn't live life in the past.

Tonya made a ham yesterday.

There was lots of vegetables.

So, I got some veggies in my food dish, but no ham.

However...

The veggies tasted like ham.

She used the water from the ham to boil the veggies in.

Tonya also knows the Big Guy isn't a huge fan of boiled cabbage.

He prefers his fried.

Or raw.

Like when he makes his cole slaw.

Which doesn't have onions, but, yet, I never get any.

We gotta have a chat about that.

23/Oct/22 walk around me

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Last night, the Big Guy and Tonya had left overs.

Yes, those ribs.

Although there was no bones.

The Big Guy took the time to take the meat off the bones.

I didn't get to have any of the bones.

But then again, neither did any of the critters that comes around looking for their left overs.

This time, the stuff that they normally put in their compost area, went into the green bin.

The compost area, it's where there used to be a very large tree stump.

Honestly, a few bags of earth from Canadian Tire, and it would be all filled in.

They are fixing up the house across the street from where we live.

It was sold about 14 years ago and no one has lived in it.

It's been slowly going into disrepair.

It is nice to see that someone is fixing it up.

I've found, when a house sits empty for a few years.

Somehow or other, it catches fire.

Then the City will come around the bulldoze it to the ground and clean up what is left of the house.

This means, there is more than a few empty lots around where I live.

Well, not around where I live, more like, around other parts of town.

Hopefully, some day, someone will purchase the empty lot and start building a new home.

But then, these new homes are so expensive now.

Just a vicious circle.

Oh, and what are they having for supper today?

Boiled ham.

Just great...

Something else I can't have.

They best put some mashed potatoes out for me.  With veggies.  And 3 extra treats.
