31/Dec/20 it is the last day of 2020

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

This is it.  The last day of 2020.  This one is certainly one for the history books.

It's been rough on everyone.

Now, the people working from home, well, that hasn't been too bad.  I rather enjoy having my humans home with me all the time.

It's been a lot tougher on Tonya than it has the Big Guy.  She wants to mingle and be with people.  The Big Guy, well, he prefers to stay home.  So, having the Nova Scotia government issue a warning and telling everyone, "Stay the blazes home".

Oh my, that was right in his wheelhouse.

The other day, Tonya was saying, she has to take down the Christmas lights and the decorations.

The Big Guy said, if it makes you happy, leave them up.  At least for now.

The outdoor decorations, they will be able to come down soon.  The Big Guy would like to be able to take the chairs off the front deck and get them inside for the Winter.

Although with the lack of snow, the Big Guy really isn't in any hurry to do that.

30/Dec/20 what toilet paper roll are you talking about

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Did you ever pick up a sheeting of bubble wrap?

What's the first thing you do?

You pop a couple of them.

It's what human's do.

Do you know what happens when I see an empty toilet paper roll?

I chew it all up.

Yea, I also eat some of it too.

But I put it between my paws and just rip it up.

Rip

Rip

Rip

Oh so satisfying.

Just like popping bubble wrap.

29/Dec/20 lets get ready to rumble

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Every so often, I will find my bunny and I will ask the Big Guy to play with me.

That will last about 10 minutes at the very most.

I get bored as he doesn't let me win.  Then I will lay down and he will throw bunny at me.  That's when I know, play time is done.

I have to watch out not to bite his hand.  Normally, he will put his hand somewhere that I don't bite it.  At least not so far.

Tonya and the Big Guy had some prime rib roast beef last evening.  I got to have the bone.

Yesterday, the Big Guy threw out these molasses cookies that were about a week old.  He made WAY to many.  Tonya and the Big Guy don't have a lot of sweets.

They also left me alone for about 2 hours yesterday.

When they came home, I could smell strange dog on them.  It's the same dog that I smell when Floyd and his family comes for a visit.  So I could only imagine, they went to visit with Floyd.

Tonya says that the Christmas Decorations will be coming down this week.  We will see.

28/Dec/20 your going to share your chicken with me

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

So the Big Guy is always looking for something new to cook.

Yesterday, he tried his hand at doing dressing from scratch.  He never thought, he could have put the chicken on top of the dressing.

Dumb arse.

Oh well, next time he makes his chicken dressing, I bet that is what he is going to do.

They also went for a road trip.  But they went without me.  I would have loved to have gone for a drive.

Now, I heard they are going to for a visit with Aurora today.

Because Floyd already has dogs, I will not be allowed to go for a visit.

That is just not fair.  I would play nice with them.

But because the dogs might be protecting their house, they may not like me very much.

I guess I will stay home while they go out.

Sigh...

27/Dec/20 you could have brought home a doggie bag

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I said that Tonya and the Big Guy went out to supper.  They had gone over to Terry, Haas and Craig's house.

They didn't bring anything back for me.

So...

What do you think they did yesterday?

They went out again.

This time, they had Turkey, stuffing, Roast Beef, mashed potatoes, veggies, gravy...

Was any of it brought home to me?

Even a doggie bag?

A morsel?

A wee bit of gravy to pour over my kibble...

NOTHING!

You just wait.  I'm going to have a poop right next to the drive door of your car.  That will show you to forget me.

26/Dec/20 this is my impression of a human after eating turkey

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Tonya and the Big Guy went out last night.  They went to visit my uncles Terry, Haas and Craig.

They had turkey, dressing, ham and veggies.

The Big Guy wants to know, what Terry's recipe is for his turkey stuffing.

Either he has it written down, or he will have to get him to talk and while he is talking, video him, so that he can get the recipe.

Normally, they will get "Stove Top Stuffing" that they get at Superstore.  Kind of a cheater recipe for the stuffing.

Since the stuffing is always loved by everyone, the Big Guy figures, if he were to make it, he would make LOTS.

Tonya was worried that when they got home, because of all the stuffing they had, that she would be passing a lot of gas.

The Big Guy reassured me, he didn't get any gas from the meal.

Oh I'm just so happy for them.  They got a turkey dinner and didn't bring ANY of it home for me.

Some Christmas this is turning out to be for me.

25/Dec/20 Merry Christmas

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Last evening, the Big Guy got to open a present.  It was like it was his childhood, all over again.

He was going to shake his present to see if he could guess.

Tonya pretty much screamed at him.  DO NOT SHAKE IT!

So he didn't.

I went up to him to see what was going on.

I sniffed the present and I was pretty sure, I knew, right away, what was in the nicely wrapped present.

He opened it slowly and I was still sniffing.

I needed to confirm that I was smelling it correctly.

Then, the Big Guy got the point where he could see the contents.

It was a big bottle of salted and roasted cashews.

He gave me 1/2 of one.  But I took it gently from him.  He gave some to Tonya and I went to see her.  She gave me some of hers.

He has other stuff under the tree.  But I guess he will get that later on today.

24/Dec/20 Christmas eve comes once a year

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

A lllllong time ago, when the Big Guy was a Little Guy.  They used to go to Midnight Mass.

This was church service that was actually started at Midnight.  The Little Guy would have to go to bed around 7 in the evening and would be woken up around 10:30 or so.  He would get dressed in his best Sunday clothes.

Around 11:15, they would be going to get in the car to go to church.  But then the Little Guy's Mum would exclaim how she needed to go to the bathroom, RIGH NOW!

So the Little Guy and his father would go to the car to get it ready.

The Little Guy's father would scrape the windshield to get the frost off the windows, while the Little Guy was in the back seat.

Eventually they would go to Mass and would attend the service.

Somewhere around 1 in the morning.  They would get home.

BUT...  What is this?

Someone was visiting!

They left all sorts of presents.

Well, it was Santa that had been there while they had gone to Midnight Mass.

The Little Guy had to get changed out of his Sunday Best and into his PJ's.

Then they would open their presents.

The next day, around 7 in the morning.  The Little Guy would get up and quietly play with his new toys.

It was such a magical time in his life.

23/Dec/20 you got my toy, I would like it back please

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Do you see that little rocking chair?

Notice how there is two stuffed toys sitting on the chair.

Now, also notice that my toy is laying across their legs.

They are holding my toy hostage.

I don't know what they want.

I've got Mr. and Mrs. Clause to the left of me.

There is some bad child that is being sent to the corner for a time out.

I would like to get my toy back.

I looked at the Big Guy several times.  He was no help.

Finally, Tonya got up, and got my toy for me.

Phew.  I was nervous that I would never get it back.

22/Dec/20 2nd day of Winter and the day got a little longer

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

From this point, until the 1st day of Summer, the days will get longer.

Seems weird how the days are getting longer, but the days are also going to get colder.  At least for the next 2 months.  Then it will start to get warmer again.

There is places in the far North, above the artic circle, where it's dark 24 hours a day.

BUT, in the Summer, it's light 24 hours a day.

The Big Guy made some Seafood Chowder yesterday.

It had bacon and onions in it.  I wasn't allowed to have any of it.

Now, their previous dog, they used to feed him bacon and it was no bother for him.  Me...  golly, it just flies though me.

Now, the onions, they never gave anything to their dogs that would have had onions in it.

The Big Guy also made this Italian Bread.  Now that I was allowed to have some.

Oh and wasn't that yummy.

21/Dec/20 Welcome to the shortest day of the year

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Today, sunrise will be at 7:41 am and it will set at 4:18 pm.  That means, 8 hours and 37 minutes of sun today.

BUT, we are also in for some heavy winds and lots of rain.  So, it will seem even more dreary than normal.

Later this afternoon, the Big Guy is going to be making a fish chowder for his brother-in-laws.

He is actually a pretty good cook, but I honestly wouldn't know.  Most of the times, I'm not allowed to have what he is cooking.

Just like yesterday.  He was cooking a pork stir fry.

It smelled wonderful.

But could I have any of it?  No.

Pork and then onions on top of that.  Both items give me loosie goosie poops.

Can't have that.

He even had rice.  Which he could have kept separate.  But NO...   he had to mix it all together.

I can have rice.

20/Dec/20 I claim this love seat for all doggies

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday was exciting.

I got some visitors that I have only met a few times before.

It was Tonya's niece and her daughter that came for a visit.

They were bringing a Christmas Present.  It was a crochet blanket/throw for Tonya.  What made it special was that there was a shirt that her brother David used to wear.  Actually, it was in the last picture of David, and he was wearing this red shirt.

Everyone wanted the shirt.  But, you can't really give up that shirt to EVERYONE.

So, pieces were cut out of the shirt and sewed into the blanket.

Tonya loved it.

She loved it so much, it made her cry.

I didn't know why she was crying.

I tried to comfort her.

She cried more.

Humans are weird.

19/Dec/20 how about a little French Kiss

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Tonya found out that if she puts her face close to mine and opens her mouth, I will try to lick the inside of her month.

Lordy...

She really didn't have to make that face.

Honestly, my mouth is a lot cleaner than a human's mouth.

So, we are coming up on the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

Because it's going to be Winter, it will continue to get cold and there will be a lot of snow.

Talking of snow.

The Mainland got quite a bit of snow.

Cape Breton, not so much.  We got some rain and most of the snow that we got, well, it melted away.

The Big Guy looked outside at the lack of snow.

He smiled.

He is pretty certain that we will get snow...  and a lot of it...  before Winter is out.
