31/Aug/19 ain't no nickels on the ground sailor

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So, here is it, the last day of August.

This week, the kids should be going to school and once again, people will be using our driveway as a place to park while they drop off their children.  It's only for a "minute".  Which is a LIE!

The Big Guy wants to follow them home and then park in their driveway and see how they feel about it.  I bet they would come out and ask what he's doing.  He would tell them, well you park in my driveway, I thought I would just park in your driveway for a bit.  Why, are you planning to go somewhere?  I know that I was planning to go somewhere when you parked in my driveway.  So I will only be here for a "minute".  OK?

It's also very likely that Tonya would NOT allow the Big Guy to do that.

She is afraid that someone would come back to our house and throw rocks at our windows.

One of Tonya's cousins is moving back to North Sydney.  Her husband works for the RCMP and they were posted to Northern Cape Breton.  But he managed to get a posting back to this area.  They had their house for sale the entire time they were away.  But it never sold.  It is a big house, well, bigger than the one that I live in now.  It was super nice inside too.  But no one had the money to buy the house.

So you could say, it was meant to be that the house didn't sell.  But now, they got a house in Northern Cape Breton that they have to sell.

They just can't win.

30/Aug/19 I'm hiding behind this table leg

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So, the Big Guy put me outside for my morning pee.

Then some random rain cloud decided it was time to PISS on me.  WOW!  Was it raining really hard.  I had to squint though the rain drops.

I will hold my poop in until it calms down a bit from that rain.

There is a lot of humidity outside right now.  But this is the remnants from a tropical storm that is passing by.

The Big Guy went to the renal clinic in Sydney yesterday.  Apparently all is well.  He doesn't have to tweek his meds.  He is on track.

But there is a few things the Dr did ask of him.

No more salting items.  If the recipe calls for salt, then, yes, that's fine.  But to stop salting stuff.  So like his chicken sandwich that he puts salt on.  Well, that's stops.

Also, to limit his water to 2 litres a day.  He was likely drinking upwards of 4 litres.  But the Dr said, that's too much water for a person that is retaining water.  I wonder that if that includes his two coffee's he has in the morning.  I hope not.  Otherwise he's going to be pretty thirsty.

The next item, start walking again.  We used to go for LONG walks.  Now, not so much.  Lately, the Big Guy has been suffering from "water on the knee".  The Doctor confirmed that yesterday.  But hopefully with the lack of salt, less water in take, his knee will get better.  We will see...

Looking forward to walking again.

Yes, walks.

Can we go now?  In the rain?  Hmmm...  perhaps when it is a little rain and not this shit ton of down pour we are having.

29/Aug/19 you had best plan a different route

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

And in this corner, wearing a tri-color fur coat, weighing in at 143 pounds....  it's...

Maximus Handsomius!

Lets get ready to RUMBLE!

OK, so perhaps not so much.

Yesterday we got a call from the Vet.  It was time to get new medication for fleas and ticks.  But I had to get weighed before they would give me the medication.

Tonya was rather expecting that her grand daughter, Aurora would be visiting yesterday.  But Floyd said that she had a cold and wouldn't be visiting.

Tonya had even planned to get A&K chicken for supper.  But the kids decided that they wanted to stay home and ride out they cold they have.

Tonya was really hurt that her plans were changed.  She was really looking forward to having Aurora visit with us at our house.  I would have finally got to see her.

But plans changed.

The Big Guy told Tonya, Aurora is going to grow up and she will visit a lot more.

I wonder if crayons taste any good?  I hear you can eat Play Dough.

28/Aug/19 my pool is full of rain water

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Yesterday, we had what was left of some tropical storm.  My little wading pool that is on the deck, well, yesterday it was dry.

Now, it's filled up to almost over flowing.

Tonya and the Big Guy went shopping yesterday.  When they walked into the store, it was raining a bit.  Not too hard.

When they went to leave, there was a line up.  No one was going outside.  That's when they seen why.  It was raining really HARD!

The Big Guy got around everyone and pushed the cart outside.  He lifted the tail gate of the car and let Tonya go sit in the car.  He was protected from the rain.  He loaded the groceries into the car.  Then he had to close the tail gate.  Well he was getting wet again.  But he put the cart away and got into the car and they drove home.

Which was fine.  They had to dodge a few branches that blew off some trees.

When they got home.  Of course they got a metal roof.  The Big Guy backed up the car, as close as he dared and opened the tail gate.  Tonya ran into the house.

Of course, her coming into the house like that.  Well it got me rather excited.  I thought it was a new game.

But I looked outside and said, what the hell kind of game is this?  Your running around in the rain?

I'm out.

Tonya gave me a milk bone doggie biscuit and I went to the living room.

27/Aug/19 you didn't get me any toys from Kijiji

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Did you see on Facebook that Tonya bought this bassinet for her grand daughter, Aurora?  There is also a pad and these two piece of foam that create an arch so that you can hang toys off of it.

Well she kept on saying, it's for the baby.

But my baby rabbit is in the living room.

So I went and got it for her.

Turns out, she didn't want "that" baby.

Then she turns to the Big Guy and says that we can't say that word around me any more.  That Aurora will be Aurora and not baby.

I don't understand everything those two say.  I can understand about 200 words.

Kinda funny.

They don't seem to understand any of my barks and growls.

Yet I'm supposed to be the dumb one in this equation.

26/Aug/19 got over 60,000 reads on my blog now

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

I am humbled.

This blog was started in order to have a place to keep all the pictures of me and some of the adventures that I get into.

Life of a dog, so to speak.

It's been 3 1/2 years now.

Not one day has gone by that I haven't wrote something.

But you, my diligent reader, your still here.  Still reading my blog.  Everyday.

I can't thank you enough for sticking with me.

I've had some people tell me that I should put advertisements and make money.  Move the blog to where that can be done.

I think I will leave it as is.

Yes, making money would be nice.

But that's not what I'm about.

I just want to tell a story.

I'm glad that you enjoy to read what I write.

25/Aug/19 I can hear you trying to sneak up on me

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So this morning, guess who gets up and makes a beef pie.

Well, I can tell you this...  it wasn't me.

Oh, and of course there is 2 onions in the beef pie.  That means I can't have any of it.  But you can bet your last dollar, when Tonya gets up and she takes a piece of the pie for breakfast, I'm going to be bugging her for a piece.

The Big Guy also cleaned up his mess that he made.  So when Tonya gets up, there is only the one mixing bowl in the sink.  That is there cause there wasn't enough room in the dish washer.

So to say that he "cleaned up"...  well, he hid the dirty dishes in the dishwasher.  He isn't really done cleaning just yet.

The Big Guy has to go to Sydney this morning.  He is going to go get this bassinet that was on Kijiji.  Apparently it's only been used three times.  It even has some sheets that goes with it.  The Big Guy said, to use a pillow case as a sheet.

Tonya has this big idea about making baby sheets for Baby Aurora's crib.  She wants to get some material from Fabricville and then some elastic.  She thinks that it shouldn't be too difficult to make.

I'm going to bet that it would be a lot more convenient to just buy them.

The Big Guy pretty much agrees with me on this.  But if they can be made at a reasonable price and not too much effort, Tonya will be SUPER proud of her work.

24/Aug/19 did you want to get past me... too bad

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So the Big Guy has been playing this game on his XBox.  Called World of Warships.  Now he is finding that it's getting boring.  He just can't level up as fast as he could, if he were to spend money.  But he doesn't want to spend money to do that.  He doesn't see the need to do that.  To him, it's just a game.  But he does want better ships and the only way to do that is to play.

Boy oh boy, his first world problems.

Then he has this other game.  It's Forza 6.  It's a race car game.  Again, another game that isn't all that hard.  He's got it set to easy mode.  He doesn't really like to loose.  But again, leveling up would be easier, if he played it on a harder setting.

Again, with his first world problems.

Something that you have to wonder about.

When you use Tin Foil to line a cookie sheet to cook bacon in the oven.  The Big Guy has done this countless times.  The Tin Foil goes from side to side, top to bottom.  Then he puts the bacon on the Tin Foil and bakes it in the oven.  For those of you that don't do this, you really should.  It is so much easier to cook bacon that way.  No splatter.  Clean up is super easy.  After you put the bacon on the cookie sheet, you then turn the oven on to 400 F and put the bacon in the oven.  DO NOT PRE-HEAT.  Put the timer on for 22 min for cooked bacon, or 25 min for crispy bacon.  Then again, it also depends on how thick the bacon is.

Now, the cookie sheet was lined with Tin Foil.  But when you lift the Tin Foil to clean up, there is bacon grease that is between the Tin Foil and the cookie sheet.  Since there is no holes in the Tin Foil, how did the grease get thru?

Again, I know, first world problems...

23/Aug/19 the kitchen tiles are cool on my belly

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Yesterday the Big Guy was in the kitchen, cooking supper.  To say that it was warm...  well, it wasn't just warm, it was HOT.  Geesh, I wear a fur coat.

But he had the oven on to 450 for the fries.

He had the deep fat fryer out for the fish.

Yes, he was making Fish & Chips.  Well, actually beer battered fish.  He found the mistake that he did last time he did the fish.  The fish wasn't 100% thawed out.  So when the fish hit the hot oil, it pretty much blew the batter off the fish as the fish was steaming from the ice that was melting.

So that was an important lesson.

Make sure the fish is thawed and relatively dry.

Oh, second big secret, double fry the fish.

Makes it nice and crispy.

After supper, the Big Guy wanted to sit out front.  Well there was WAY too much sun.  So they put up the umbrellas for the sun.  Well there was WAY too much wind for the umbrellas.  They went and sat in the back deck.

Well, there was way too many bugs flying around.  Not a good time.

So they went back inside to get away from the heat and the bugs.

22/Aug/19 a picture of me in the dark

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Every so often, Tonya and the Big Guy will leave the house.  What seems like forever, they will come home.

Then again, five minutes is forever for me.  I really can't tell the time so well.

But I know what their car sounds like.

So, yesterday, when the Big Guy and I were sitting on the front deck, I thought and I was sure, I heard their car in the back yard.

I NEEDED to get to the back yard, RIGHT NOW!  Tonya is home, I know it.

Yes, I agree, I didn't see the car drive into the driveway, but that didn't matter.  What mattered was that I know I heard the car in the back yard.

The Big Guy had the screen put in the front door.  Well I almost jumped on the screen part.  I just needed to get to the back of the house, RIGHT NOW!

So he took forever to unclip my collar and open the door.

Once the door was open, I raced to the back door.

There she was.

Gone.

WTF?

Where is the car?

The Big Guy opened the door for the back deck.

I raced out.  I looked left, and I looked right.

No car.  No Tonya.  Is this another one of those human games they like to play so much?

Eventually Tonya did come home.  They brought the groceries inside.  Tonya gave me this treat so that I would go chew it somewhere else while they unloaded the groceries.

Now, that's a game I'm more than willing to play.  You buy me one of those hour long chew bones and I plow though it in about 10 minutes.  But it's long enough for them to put the groceries away.
