Good morning Cape Breton.
Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.
So many many years ago, there was a belief that the dead would roam the earth and steal people's spirits.
What day was this? October 31st. So people used to dress up in various things to "disguise" themselves from these spirits.
Thus Halloween was born.
So when these little dressed up "spirits" would come to your house, so that they didn't steal your sole, you gave them small bribes to go away. ie. candy and the like.
That has progressed to our modern society.
Kids will hardly dress up at all and will go door to door and get treats.
Honestly, the Big Guy couldn't care less about who comes to the door, he will simply give out treats. If you took the time and effort to come around, he will give you a small chocolate bar and a small bag of chips.
Now, Tonya will have special treat bags for the smaller children. They will get a grab bag. In there, there is more candy, typically a Halloween pencil and some other little toy they can play with. Oh, and they also get the chocolate bar and bag of chips. BUT they have to be smaller children, or related to us.
Halloween is on a Wednesday this year. Right in the middle of the week. It may end up that neither Tonya or the Big Guy will have the day off. There is also a few others at work that are also asking for the same day off. So we will have to see what is put on the work schedule as they really don't care if it's Halloween or not. Work still goes on.
