31/Oct/18 don't look at me, I've got bed head hair

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So today is the big day for the kids out there.  They are going to go from door to door, dressed up as stuff and then ask for candy.  Well, more like chips and chocolate bars.

Every year, some one out there finds a razor blade in their candy.

Who does that?

Today, Tonya doesn't have work, so she will be giving out the candies to the kids.

She didn't do up any "grab bags" like she has done in the past for the smaller children.

Also, this year, Tonya and the Big Guy didn't watch any Halloween stuff on TV.  In the past, this seemed to be something that they would do.  Not that the Big Guy is a fan of horror movies.

Just like this morning, the Big Guy normally gets up the same time every day.  He didn't feel Tonya get up out of bed.  She got up just before him and went to the bathroom.  Then he got up, put his glasses on and was going to go to the bathroom.

That's when I heard the scream from upstairs.

Tonya met the Big Guy in the bedroom door way.  Neither of them knew the other was up and out of bed.

I met the Big Guy at the bottom of the stairs.  I was wondering what all the screaming was about.

I wonder if Tonya took a long time to go back to sleep?

30/Oct/18 you know it, and I know it, we both need to walk

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Yesterday Tonya wanted to take me for a drive.  Now, I LOVE to go for drives.  I get to see all kinds of new stuff.  Sometimes I can get pretty excited when I know that we are going to a certain place.

Like the dog park.  When we go for a drive and I start to recognize a certain intersection in Sydney, I start to get restless and start barking and barking and barking.  The Big Guy does find it surprising that I recognize the intersection.  Geesh, I'm a dog, I'm not completely dumb.

Anyways...

Yesterday, Tonya opens up the back door to the car.  That's normally my cue to run and jump into the back seat of the car.

But wait...  what's this...

There are two lunch pails on the back seat.

They are "in my way".

I couldn't jump into the car.

I stood there.  My front legs on the back seat and my back legs on the ground, outside the car.

I was stuck.

I couldn't go any further.

I started to whine and whimper.

Oh Tonya, what have you done?  You are sending me mixed messages.  You want me in the car, yet you put these obstacles in my way...  How do I resolve this?

I tried to lift my back leg into the car.  But the door sill it way too high.  I better look pitiful and whine a bit more.

Eventually Tonya lifted me up.  She had to struggle to lift me.  Did you know, she swears a lot.

Those darn lunch pails were in the way.

Tonya had to go around the car, open up the other door and put the lunch pails on the floor of the car.

29/Oct/18 glad that yesterday rain wasn't snow

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Every year, there are certain people that decorate their homes for Halloween and Christmas.  Then there is the other homes that doesn't decorate at all.

The Big Guy wonders, are they any less in the spirit of the season?

In the past, at work, they have decorated for Halloween and tended to make a "thing" of it.  This year, nothing.  Now, there are a few people that have taken the time to decorate their cubical, but otherwise, there are people, like the Big Guy, that just haven't done that to their desk at work.

Now, the stores, they have got all kinds of stuff for sale.  They even got their Christmas stuff out on the shelf.  Now, we really can't blame the store for setting up their Christmas stuff early.  If people are willing to shop and buy it, can we blame the store?

A lot of people will say that people really shouldn't be shopping for Christmas stuff till after Remembrance Day.  We used to use that as the bench mark.

Talking of Remembrance Day, it falls on a Sunday this year.  So the Big Guy and Tonya should be able to go.  The Big Guy used to see the ceremonies held in doors when he lived in the Prairies.  It was way too cold to be outside.

But then again, for the venues around here, well, they would likely want to host the ceremonies inside their halls and what not, like the Emra Center that is in town.  They have got a big enough place, but it likely isn't free either to do that.

28/Oct/18 my snow tires are ready for the winter

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Here I am, resting for when Tonya comes downstairs.  I will just lay here, waiting and waiting.  I will not bother the Big Guy.  I will just wait for Tonya.

THEN, when Tonya is up.  That's the time to turn into an orangutan.  I'm not sure why they say that I turn into one of the great apes, but what the hell...  I just get so excited when I see Tonya.  She's the best.

Yesterday, the Big Guy was watching Netflix.  He was laying on the couch, under the blanket, having a nap, when the computer went off.  Turns out, there is this light switch that controls the Halloween lights.  Well the laptop is on the same circuit.  So when the battery run down, it simply turned itself off, much to the surprise of the Big Guy.

He is going to be having some breakfast later on and I'm sure he will be putting onions in it.  Geesh he's bad for that.

We went for a walk yesterday and Tonya said that I wasn't allowed to sniff as much as when she walks me.  Which is true.  I want about 15 seconds to sniff an area.  The Big Guy gives me about 5 seconds and then tugs on my leash.

I would have loved to have been able to go to the Dog Park yesterday.  But it didn't work out that way.  Now that were getting all this rain, I definitely will NOT be going.  I can just imagine all the mud that I would get on my fur.  I would be happy, but not Tonya and the Big Guy.  They would say that I need to visit the Four Paw Pet Spa.  I've been there a couple times now.  I put up with it, but I don't really enjoy it.

27/Oct/18 is that a little cookie crumb that I see on the floor

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Were in for a little rain tomorrow.  It's forecasted for 50+mm of rain.  So that's about 2 inches of rain for those of you that don't do the Metric system.  So far, Halloween looks pretty safe for rain.

Tonya and the Big Guy are down to their last carboy of wine.  That means they are down to their last 30 bottles of wine.  The Big Guy says that they are going to have to do a road trip to get more wine.

Tonya had purchased a turnip last week.  It's already going soft.  She told the Big Guy, he's going to have to cut it up and freeze it.  Otherwise, they are going to have to throw it out.  Same with the cabbage.  They are going to have to use it, or throw it out.  Now, the Big Guy make a pretty good cole slaw.  Not like he shares it, but it's what I've heard.

The Big Guy was telling me that there is this lady at work, her husband is going to go work for Toyota, selling cars.  So far, his favorite car is the Carolla.  It's a full size sedan.  She was saying that he's been able to take out each model of car and take it for a test drive.

I really like going for drives.  I wonder if I could become a car salesman.  When I would be selling the cars, I wouldn't say very much though.  I would only bark that I would like to go for a drive with them.  I would hope they bring me back to work though.

Last night, Tonya got me a treat but she didn't give it to me right away.  She brought it in the living room and intended to give it to the Big Guy to give to me.  Now, she didn't give him any warning that she was going to do this and threw it at him.  He didn't react or try to catch the treat.  It landed behind his arm and was trapped between his arm and the couch.  Now, I didn't see Tonya throw the treat at him.  So I was smelling her hands.  But she kept pointing at the Big Guy.  I would go over to the Big Guy, and I could smell my treat, but he wasn't moving.  So I would go back to Tonya, and I wasn't able to smell any treat off her.  That's when I spotted the treat.  It was behind the Big Guy's arm.  But I wasn't able to reach it.  I started to whine.  I walked over to the couch and stretched out as far as my mussel would allow.  Then flicked my tongue and SUCCESS!  I got my treat.

26/Oct/18 is this the yoga position called downward dog

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So we're in for another rain storm this weekend.

Although it's nothing compared to what they are getting in the Pacific Ocean right now.  They have a storm with winds up to 290 kph.  That's 180 mph.

So if ever you watch NASCAR races on TV, those cars only go slightly faster.

At those speeds, roofs will be removed from houses.  Trees will not stand a chance.  What trees do survive, will likely have all their leaves removed.  Power lines will be none existent.  There is no Category 6 storms.  But if ever they had to make that scale increase, this storm would be on it.

So I guess you could say, I'm glad that I don't live in the Pacific.

Only a few more days till it's Halloween.  Then the small children will be coming to the door, asking for treats.  Last year, we got about 70 children that came to our house.  Normally that number doesn't change much from year to year.

There was one year, the Big Guy was talking with a lady at work, and she lives on the road that goes though down town, just near the yacht club.  She said that she had one child go trick or treating at her house.  She said that's about normal for her area.

My non-furry Memere said that when she lived in the country, it would be normal to get less than 10 children go to her house.  But she also lived about a 1/4 mile off the highway.  So for the kids to travel that far, they were really hoping to get a lot of candy.

We tend to give out a bag of chips, and a chocolate bar.  Tonya makes these grab bags for the smaller children.  So they get extra stuff, like a Halloween pencil, so special chocolate, chips and a chocolate bar, all in this little grab bag.  The teenagers that comes around, just a bag of chips and chocolate bar.

25/Oct/18 look ma, no cavities

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

The Big Guy chases after me all the time with that camera.  Some pictures he gets of me...  well...  he really shouldn't use them.  Like this one.

The Big Guy had made a goulash yesterday morning.  He had it for breakfast, lunch and then supper.  He LOVES that stuff.  Now...  can I have any?  No.  It's got onions in it.  I'm a wee bit allergic to onions and my paws gets all itchy.  Then I lick and lick and lick my paws.

So, if you see your doggie licking their paws.  It's likely cause you fed them something that they are allergic to.

Doggies LOVES human food.  But not all of it is good for us.

Well it certainly did rain a lot yesterday.  So much so, that the leaves have been battered right off the trees.

Not all the leaves mind you.  So of the leaves just haven't fallen off the trees yet.  But soon enough.  We got another rain event coming in this weekend.  So the leaves will be hit again with a lot of rain.

The Big Guy was smiling most of the day yesterday.  I bet your asking why.  Well, Tonya's Honey Do List was very small.  He only had to vacuum the stairs and the couches.  There certainly was a lot of my fur hidden besides each couch cushion.  The Big Guy was astounded just how much fur there was.  Tonya said that she did this a month ago.

24/Oct/18 the floor is much bigger to sleep on

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So it's my "thing" to lay on the floor.  But not in just any place.  I have to find the perfect spot to be in the way.

Then, the Big Guy will say something like: "The Way, your in it".  REALLY?  You couldn't just say, "Your in the way".  Geesh, my way, you save a whole word.  But I guess he's trying to be sarcastic.

Don't worry readers.  I stay "in the way", if that's what your wondering.

I will let them TRY to step over me.  As I see the one foot raising, that's my cue to get up.  This makes them trip over me.

We're expecting a bit of rain today.  Because of that, the Big Guy pulled the plug on the outdoor blow ups.  He doesn't want them to get ruined.  If water gets ingested into the fan, it could damage it and then the Big Guy would no longer have stuff to put outside for Halloween.

I'm positive that Tonya would fix that.

Then, there is another rain storm coming on Saturday.  There is only one positive about this storm for the Big Guy.  So far, it's only rain and it isn't snow.  He doesn't much like snow at all.

Now, when he was a kid, he couldn't wait for snow.

Oh well, he's all grown up now.  I guess he is allowed to dislike snow if he wants to.

Me...  of course I LOVE snow.

23/Oct/18 the chair keeps me warm on three sides

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Were in for some weather tomorrow.  Were expecting over 50 mm of rain.  I know that isn't much to some folks out there.  But for us, that is quite a bit of rain.

Now, thankfully it is going to all fall at once, during a massive down pour.  This will fall over the entire day.

This means that the Big Guy, who had plans to cut down more brush and put some of the branches into the green bin, will be delayed again.  He is off again next Tuesday, so perhaps the weather will be better than day.  I guess we will see.

So, talking of next week, were a week away from Halloween.  That will mean that the Big Guy will be able to put the blow ups away for another year.

I'm sure that Tonya would have loved a lot more decorating to be done, but the Big Guy disagrees.  Some times, less is more.  He has seen some yards.  They are so cluttered.  They do show a lot of work and effort, but some times...  it's just way too much.  The Big Guy often wonders...  where do they put it all once Halloween is done?

Tonya has all the treats ready to go for next week for the kids that are out trick-or-treating.  The Big Guy has to work that night.  He hears that there is a few people at work that are all planning to call off that day.  Now, they ALL can't call off.  But the Big Guy is working that day.  So he may need to stay if a lot of people don't show up to work.  Guess he will see what's up.

The Big Guy knows that his last year that he was out trick or treating, he would have been 15 and in grade 9.  But he wasn't so mature.  The following year, he was in Sea Cadets and gave it up.  Now, he's the one that gives out the treats to the older kids, but doesn't say anything.  He remembers what it was like.

22/Oct/18 it's national sit in the chair month

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

It would seem that there is a whole lot of pictures of me in the chair, or in the love seat, this month.  A lot more than previous months.

I guess I'm like the bees and wasps.  They built their nests off the ground this year.  So it could mean a lot of snow.  I like being up off the floor.  Is that also an indication that there will be a lot of snow on the ground this year?

If I was sleeping on the floor, would there be less snow, like last year?

The Big Guy said that it was about the least amount of snow that they had in years.  The lack of snow did not upset the Big Guy at all.

They still got their ice cleats from last year.  So no excuses this year when it comes to walking me in the Winter.

Tonya had to go help Floyd move some stuff into his new home that he got.  He still has some furniture at the old house that he needs moved.  But Tonya said, our vehicle isn't big enough for it.

While Tonya was helping Floyd, the Big Guy and I went for a walk.  We got to meet two other doggies.  One was quite quiet.  The other, not to much.  She was a really yappy poodle.  Just wouldn't stop barking.

Later on, the Big Guy is going to go outside and plug in the blow ups.  One of them has to be turned around.  I'm pretty sure it pulled up the grounding pegs.  That job shouldn't take that long.

21/Oct/18 I can't reach the bone that's under the chair

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

I don't know why.

But it's something that I do.

I love my bones.

I really do.

But when I get really excited.  I will pick up the bone and drop it to the ground.  Or drop it onto the floor if I am inside.

Then I will pat it with my paw.

It's like...  PEETOO  (Tried to insert ricochet sound there)

And now the bone is under the chair.

I've got a solution to this.

I bark.

I bark loud.

I bark often.

I will crouch down and I will bark while looking under the chair.

If it's the Big Guy, I may as well forget it.  He will look at me as if to say.  You created this mess, you figure it out.  Well duh...  I have figured it out, you NEED to get the chair out of the way.

Tonya, now she will get all huff and puff like, but she will get out of her chair and she will move it for me.  Then I get my bone and go hide for a bit.

Geesh, I'm bored.

Oh shit, I just lost the bone under the chair again...
