31/Aug/22 it was finger licking good

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday, my humans had ribs in the slow cooker.

Did I get any?

Nope.

It's pork and pork doesn't' really agree with me too much.

BUT...

There was also rice.  With corn mixed into it.

Now, that stuff is GREAT.

After it had cooled off, the Big Guy put a helping into my food dish.

My food dish is empty now.

He filled up the water dish, but didn't add kibble.

I think he was planning to clean up the food dish for a bit.

Honestly, if they left the stand in the rain, I would think, it would be clean after the rain pounded on it.

Tonya hasn't been feeling that well.

She has been getting really dizzy.

She has been laying down, a LOT.

I've been hanging out in the cold room with her while she is not feeling that well.

Hopefully it will pass soon.

I guess we will find out.

30/Aug/22 is that someone at the door

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

When the door bell goes off...

So do I...

I think every dog goes off.

It's not so much the door bell itself.

I know there was one day, the Big Guy was on the front step.

He was looking at me through the screen door.

I could see him.

He rang the door bell.

BARK BARK BARK

I ran to the back door.

Since I could see him at the front door, I made the logical conclusion, someone must be at the back door.

I get to the back door.

No one is there.

WTF

I walked back to the front door.

DING DONG

BARK BARK BARK

I ran to the back door again.

WTF

No one is there.

Tonya came to the front door to see who was at the door.

She started giving the Big Guy "what for".

She didn't think it was all that funny.

29/Aug/22 I love pasta

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday, Tonya really wanted some poutine.

The Big Guy went and got her some.

Winnie's Wagon was shutting down for the season, so he went there.

That is his favorite place for Fish & Chips on Cape Breton Island.

He also got a poutine.

It isn't his "go to", that's for sure.

Everyone seems to rave about poutine.

I had to be patient.

Tonya put the remainder of what she got, in my food dish.

Of course, I devoured it.

They were supposed to have salmon for supper, but it ended up, nope.  They were still full from their poutine.

The Big Guy made a peanut butter sandwich later on.  He had a big glass of iced tea to go along with it.

Did you know, when he was a young father, he used to make these "Chocolate Bar Sandwiches" for his girls.

2 slices of bread.

Butter the bread.

Peanut butter on one side.

Nutella on the other side.

Bingo bango bongo...  a chocolate bar sandwich.

28/Aug/22 I don't like the rain

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday, the Big Guy went outside.

I wanted to see what he was up to.

Tonya was more than obliging and put me on my lead.

The Big Guy was trimming this tree that has been growing on their property since they moved from Cole Harbour.  That would be 2007.

But this tree is right next to the garage.

It is now a nuisance tree.

The Big Guy got the green bin and moved it over.

As he was cutting, he was stuffing it into the green bin.

He is saving the bigger wood for the fire pit.

But it started to rain.

I went up on the entrance to the house.

From where the Big Guy was, he couldn't see me.

He thought I was brought inside.

The Big Guy brought his chair and sat in the garage.

Meanwhile, I am trying to get into the house.

It was raining.

It was raining HARD.

I was getting soaked.

I was NOT enjoying it.

After the rain was done, Tonya was finished her shower and remembered that she had put me outside.

But she thought, the Big Guy would put me in.

No matter how much I shook the water off, more fell and I was not enjoying the shower.

Even after it stopped raining, the metal roof, was still dripping on me.

I was NOT happy.

27/Aug/22 you went for a drive without me

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday, the Big Guy went for a drive to Dartmouth and back home to Cape Breton.

He went to pick up his nephew Clarke and drove him home.

He found that it was really busy in Dartmouth.

He didn't even go to Halifax.

I guess he is really used to the slower paced life of Cape Breton has to offer.

When he got home, Tonya had the back screen door locked.

He knocked on the door, but she couldn't hear him.

He used his cell phone to call her and ask her to unlock the screen door.

He stayed up for a few minutes and then went to bed.

The Big Guy has a 2 day weekend now.

I know every weekend has 2 days.

The Big Guy has a few projects around the yard that needs to get done.

Tonya wants the tree that is in the back yard, taken down.

That should be an hour or so.

The plants that are along side the back deck, need to be trimmed to the ground for another season.

The front hedge needs to be trimmed.

Individually, they are small jobs.

He will take his time and get it done.

26/Aug/22 I love the cold room

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday, when the Big Guy got up from bed and left the bedroom, his glasses got all fogged up.

It was nice and cold in the bedroom.

I love it in that room.

There is a draw back though.

When the Big Guy is downstairs, I can't see what he is making for breakfast.

Not to say that he would ever take the time to actively share his breakfast.

They also keep the shades drawn.

Yes, that means the room is dark.

But I also can't see outside.

For that, I've got to be downstairs.

To really see the action outside, then it's best to be outside.

But, lately, outside, it's warm.

It's a bit of give and take.

In a few months from now, we could be getting snow.

The Big Guy isn't so jazzed about that.

He would much prefer a temperate Winter.

Just little dusting of snow that would melt as it hits the steps of his house.

Enough snow to say that it snowed, but definitely not enough snow to get the snow plow on the road.

Keep dreaming Big Guy, keep dreaming...

25/Aug/22 are you going to eat all that cheese

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Vice sitting on the front deck yesterday, they decided they would sit on the back deck.

This meant that I wouldn't be barking at everyone that walked by.

I could only see them for a very short period as they walked by the house.

The Big Guy prefers the front deck.

But, he also prefers that I don't bark.

Yea...

That isn't going to happen.

I see stuff.

I bark at it.

Especially other dogs.

Doesn't matter the size.

It's like my way of letting them know that I live here.

They can't smell my pee from that distance.

So...

I rely on sound.

Bark bark bark

The Big Guy isn't sure what it means in dog language.

24/Aug/22 had a Million Dollar Meal

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

You are probably wondering, what it was that I had.

Well, only about a 1/2 million dollar for me.

Tonya made supper yesterday.

She fried up some hamburger.

Then added mushroom soup.

She steamed some peas and carrots.

Then, made mashed potatoes.

Start with a helping of mashed potatoes.

Top that with peas and carrots.

Top that with the fried hamburger and mushroom soup.

Voila...

The Million Dollar Meal.

Since Tonya only put aside some mashed potatoes and veggies, I only got about a 1/2 million.

The Big Guy loves simple meals.

You certainly don't get that at a restaurant.

Although, you might, if it was at a truckers restaurant.

They tend to be big on hearty meals.

During the Big Guy's time in the Navy, they never had anything that was close to that.

I'm sure it would have been a big hit.

23/Aug/22 I will nap and nap again later on

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Tonya and the Big Guy have been listening to books.

Not reading them.

Listening.

This allows Tonya to play her little game while the book is being read.

Apparently it's a thing.

It is called Audio Books.

They listened to this book, "The Hunt for the Red October".

The Big Guy has read this book at least 12 times or more.

He really likes that book.

They were listening to "Red Storm Rising".

It is supposed to be about 36 hours.

But the piece they were listening to, was only 8 1/2 hours long.

Tonya was really into it.

She was let down that the Big Guy didn't have the other parts to listen to.

He has applied for a library card and is going to see if the library doesn't have a recording of that book so they can finish listening to it.

There is also this subscription that they can get from Amazon.

Since they don't watch Disney + that much, they are considering swapping one for the other.

Tonya would be able to listen to "Harlequin Romance" during the day, when the Big Guy is at work.

She really loved the Grey series.

The Big Guy can't remember the exact name of the books.  But something about 50 ways and the word Grey was also in it.  The Guy was into bondage and such and paddling the bum of this lady.

22/Aug/22 how much is that doggy in the window

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

A long time ago.  The Big Guy's father had made a fiberglass canoe.

They did this in a town called Lawrencetown.  Or, just outside that town.

Eventually the canoe was painted, wooden pieces were attached and the canoe was moved to the cottage they owned in Cocagne New Brunswick.

The Big Guy used to take the canoe out on the river all the time.

There was one time, the Big Guy would have been a teenager at the time, he got upset about this or that.

Now, the river it about a 1/2 mile wide, just shy of a kilometer.

You can see the old homestead to the bottom right.

The Big Guy took the canoe and rowed out to what would be the left of the picture and put a pole into the mud and then put the bow line over the pole.

For context, the river is for the most part, 4 feet deep, at high tide.  There is a channel, and there, the river is about 8 feet deep.

So, the Big Guy had also brought a book with him.

He sat, in the canoe, reading a book, in the middle of the river.

It was a sunny day.

He was upset about something or other.

What do teenagers get upset about?

Everything and nothing, both at the same time.

Eventually, he thought he had made his point and rowed back to shore.

The Big Guy was really quite good at being in the canoe.

The Big Guy's father, also thought he was really good in the canoe.

But it was the Big Guy's father that tipped the canoe and fell into the water.

The Big Guy never once fell out of the canoe.
