Good morning Cape Breton.
Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.
OK, so I was going for the squinty Clint Eastwood look. Guess I didn't exactly pull this one off all that well.
Shit.
So, 100 years ago, in the town of North Sydney Nova Scotia, in what would be the back yard to where I live, there was a message that was received in the Western Union building. It was later renamed the Parrish Center. It was eventually sold. Someone tried to turn it into a teen center. Then a building that could be rented out. Tonya had her 10th High School reunion there.
The guy that owned it, tried to sell it for $250,000.00, but no one would purchase it.
This same person would eventually tear that historic building down.
Now, why didn't North Sydney purchase the building and turn it into a museum, I will never know. Instead, they did build a brand new building, down by the waterfront and turned that into a museum. Funny how things work out.
But, today, being the 100th anniversary of the ending of World War 1, North Sydney is going to celebrate Remembrance Day one day, before the remainder of Canada. Tonya and the Big Guy are likely going to be going to see the celebrations to see what's what.
Are you going to be going to Remembrance Day where you live?
