30/Jun/23 unexpected heat

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday the Big Guy took the time to move some stuff off the back deck.

All of the grandchildren's toys to start with.

He also has an extra propane tank.

He dropped that off the back deck.

It hit the ground, tipped over and started to roll away.

It was rolling towards the car.

It hit the front tire.

Then, the Big Guy continued to drop stuff off the back deck.

One of the items, was the toy car.

That rolled towards the car as well.

But it is plastic, so it didn't hit the car that hard.

The Big Guy was saying to himself, he should of moved the car first.

Tonya seen his shoes that he was wearing.

They had paint drops on them.

She got really upset.

He told her, they are his OLD shoes, not his new ones.

She felt only slightly better.

Today, the Big Guy has to put some more paint on the back deck.

He would like to add a 2nd coat, but he isn't so sure the weather is going to cooperate at all.

But he has painted the deck a light grey.

Should be cooler on my paws when I laying out on the deck.

29/Jun/23 school is out

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Big Guy was on Facebook and he is pretty sure he seen, yesterday was the last day of school.

There is a property around the corner from us.  

Well, it's a block down the street.

They have let the grass over grown.

Tonya and the Big Guy are afraid I may get ticks in that grass.

Someone must of felt the same and went and cut the grass.

They are also getting alders growing on their property.

They will be tough to get rid off.

But the property doesn't seem to be for sale.

It's just sitting empty.

There is another property at the opposite end of where we live.

That grass is growing tall as well.

But they are renting there.

It's not their job to mow the grass.

Perhaps the landlord thinks if they don't do it, the tenants will.

The Big Guy has told Tonya, he would go down with his lawn tractor, but it's not his job either.

She doesn't want him to break his machine.

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

For what ever reason, Tonya felt the cold room didn't need to be cold any longer.

I think it was too cold for her.

Not me.

I love the cold room.

Even if it was a COLDER room.

The heat has been getting to me.

The last few days, I've had the runs.

Same with Tonya.

She can take imodium, which is on the Big Guy's desk for work.

I can as well.

The big Guy was just looking it up.

They can also feed me plain rice and yogurt.

Guess who might be having a piece of cheese with a pill in it.

Yea, that would be me.

But the Big Guy has never been really successful in giving me a pill.

He will leave that to Tonya to figure out.

27/Jun/23 I'm not a number

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Sunday, when Tonya and the Big Guy went outside, the Big Guy seen this beach ball was behind a tree.

There is a pretty big thorn bush behind the tree.

Not sure what sort of bush it is.

It doesn't seem to have flowers.

But certainly does have thorns.

This beach ball must of missed all those thorns.

Obviously so, as it wasn't deflated.

It was windy out.

Not sure where it came from.

But unless someone comes forward, we are going to keep it for now.

If it blows away, then we were not meant to have it.

If someone posts on Facebook that they lost a beach ball, they can have it back.

But it does seem to be new.

My humans were feeling a bit under the weather yesterday.

The Big Guy thinks it was the croutons they put in their Ceasar Salad.

He said, they tasted "off".

In other words, moldy.

Both my humans had the runs.

But Tonya a lot worst than the Big Guy.

26/Jun/23 going pee in the dark

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Every night before I am allowed to retire for the evening, I have to go outside.

I will pee.

Seems to make Tonya happy.

Otherwise, I will bark to wake her up around 3 in the morning.

That is when I really want to go for a pee.

I noticed that Tonya bought a flat of eggs.

That is 36 eggs.

Not sure if she got them at Wal-Mart.

Her brother Henry, or as he is known, Haas, says that the Wal-Mart eggs are runny.

According to the Big Guy, they make the best boiled eggs.

That is because older eggs shell comes off easier.

But he also steams them.

He has found that steaming the eggs, they come off the shell easier.

Myself, I love eggs.

Just last week, there was one boiled egg left in the fridge.

The Big Guy handed it to me and I swallowed the egg.

Didn't chew it at all.

Yet it seems funny how they have to hide a pill in cheese.

25/Jun/23 walks that a way

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

It's really humid.

It may be 20 outside, but it's a lot warmer inside.

Except for where I'm at.

They started up "the cold room" once again.

There is this thing in the window.

They call it A/C.

All I know, it is cooler in that room.

I love that room.

Only draw back, it's upstairs.

That means, I have to go upstairs to get to that room.

Tonya said, no walks yesterday.

The sidewalks are getting too hot for my paws.

They also had a very long drive in the car the previous day.

The upside, I got visit from Bonnie and her grand daughter, Lilly.

They gave me plenty of belly rubs.

They even dropped by last night and I got more belly rubs from both of them.

It was wonderful.

It's supposed to rain the next few days.

We will see if it breaks the humidity.

24/Jun/23 waiting

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Tonya and the Big Guy left the house around 7 am yesterday.

Bonnie dropped by a few times to put me outside.

I was really happy to see her.

Then, I was all alone.

I laid on the floor and listened to the noises the house makes.

It was also warm.

Right now, it's +14.

But they are forecasting for the high to be +30 today.

That's warm.

I bet the Big Guy is going to be drinking a lot of water today.

He will have to go find the fan.

Otherwise, he will have to be at work, topless.

Not that it's a big deal for men to be topless.

It is legal for women to be topless in Canada.

They just decided not to go topless.

Some people used to shave down their dog thinking it would be cooler for them.

I bet they didn't know, it doesn't matter if you shave down your dog.

We pant to cool off.

Also, we soak our paws in cool water.

Being outside in a breeze goes a long way to cooling us off.

Also, not being in the direct sun.

My coat is mostly black.

That heats up quickly.

23/Jun/23 no pictures please

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

It was warm yesterday.

The Big Guy will never say that it was hot outside.

The fans have been turned on.

Tonya wants the Air Conditioner put into the bedroom window.

The Big Guy was out mowing the lawn yesterday.

Before he mowed the lawn, he did trim the front hedge.

Last year, they had to hire someone to do that for them.

Last year, that same person cut the Big Guy's extension cord.

This year, the Big Guy has lost over 60 pounds and is able to do his own yard work.

He doesn't cut extension cords.

His grandfather had an extension cord that had been repaired so often.

Not because of the Big Guy though.

He used to get $2.00 when he would mow a lawn.

Now, you can't hire any kids that want to earn a dollar.

They would rather plan video games.

Then again, today's parents will give them money without them earning it.

I'm not sure if the Big Guy would let anyone else use his lawn tractor anyways...

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

So, now the sun will be showing itself for less each day until we get to Winter.

You would think, the days should of been getting warmer and by the time the sun was shining the longest, the days would be hot outside.

It was warm out yesterday.  

Actually +25.

But now the days are going to start getting hotter.

People will be walking their dogs less and less during the heat of the day.

Now it will be early morning, or later in the evening.

At least smart people will do that.

Dogs will want to be with their human.

Even if their paws are being burnt by walking on the hot sidewalk.

I've got some longer fur on the bottom of my paws.

It would offer me some protection if I were to be walked on the hot sidewalk.

I heard the Big Guy is going to be doing some painting today.

I wonder if he is going to be doing some BBQ today?

Hot dogs would be nice if he does.

21/Jun/23 longest day of the year

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Some people say that today, the 1st day of Summer, is the longest day of the year.

This is wrong.

There is 23 hours and 56 minutes in a day.

That hasn't changed in a long time.

This is why we have a correction on February 29th once every 4 years.

Now, if people said this is the most sunlight our planet will get on this day, that would also be wrong.

The people in the Southern continents, this is their Winter and it's the day with the least amount of sunlight.

So it does balance.

It would be correct today, in the Northern Hemisphere of our planet, this day has the sun, the longest above the horizon.

Seems very wordy.

OK, it's the longest day of the year.

Humans...

Weirdos...

Where is my kibble and water?

Oh yea, and please take me for a walk.

Those are my two biggest concerns.

As far as the sun being above the horizon today...  horray...
