Good morning world.
Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.
If you haven't figured it out by now, I love human food.
Can't get enough of it.
Human food has lots of flavour in it.
Today, the Big Guy is going to be making a chicken stew.
Tonya will very likely have some for breakfast.
Not that he is making it for breakfast.
But, it will be done by the time she comes downstairs.
Of course, I can smell what he is cooking.
The last chicken they had, the Big Guy boiled the bones and has the broth.
He will be adding that to his chicken stew today.
Here is the kicker.
He will also be adding some fried onions, chives, garlic and celery to the stew.
Dogs are not supposed to have onions.
This is right from Google.
What Parts of Onions are Toxic to Dogs? All parts of the onion plant are toxic to dogs, including the flesh, leaves, juice, and processed powders. Whether raw or cooked, fried or powdered, onions and the rest of the allium family (garlic, shallots, leeks, and chives) are harmful to dogs.
Garlic might be good for people, but dogs metabolize certain foods differently than we do. According to the Merck Veterinary Manual, garlic and other members of the allium family, including onions, contain thiosulfate, which is toxic to dogs but not to humans.
Tonya will give me some of the Big Guy's stew later today.
No wonder there are days when I don't feel so well.
