30/Sep/22 spot the berner

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Ok, well the last few entries, it was being done on a cell phone.

Now, it's being done on a regular computer once again.

During the power outage, the Big Guy was always worried about the battery levels on his cell phone.

Yes, he would charge up the cell phone using the inverter built into his car.

But that also meant he had to run the car in order to do that.

The Big Guy was also working from work for a bit.

Now he is all set up for working at home once again.

He said that it was nice working from work, but also nice working from home.

Yesterday, they had pizza for all the folks that went into work.

Each day, they had muffins, cookies and other treats.

But the Big Guy is just as happy to have the stuff at home once again.

This also means, when he has to go do his business, he only has to go to the room, across the hall from where he has his work computer set up.

Although, he has been talking about moving his set up to the front bedroom.

When the Big Guy is in the back bedroom, he can't see what's going on in the front of the house.

So, less distractions.

I go visit the Big Guy while he is at work.

He pats me and then goes about his work.

He says he would like to be set up downstairs, but the grand children make a lot of noise when they visit.  They also touch a lot.  The Big Guy likes his stuff, just so.

29/Sep/22 the power its back

If you follow Tonya, or the Big Guy on Facebook, you will know, they got power to their house once again.

This means, they can see the news.

Before thus, they were listening to the Big Guy's emergency radio.

The Big Guys says he missed technology. 

I don't have to sleep in the dark any more.

The generators that were running,  have been silenced.

Although Tonya and the Big Guy are happy, they are also sad to hear that they have friends in Florida that are being hit by hurricane Ian.

Also, there is still alot of people in Cape Breton and the remainder of the Maritimes, that have lost everything and some, even their homes.

I am thinking of all the other dogs out there.  Do they have enough kibble and water?

28/Sep/22 ok, this isn't fun anymore

The Big Guy has been told, he has to go to work.

It will be strange seeing him leave the house.

The Big Guy has only been sleeping a few hours each night. 

He feels that he is medically compromised.  He certainly isn't going to be his best while he is at work.

Good thing he doesn't operate heavy machinery.

The reason for all this?  Is lack of sleep.  He has been "sleeping" in the sitting position.  He figures he has about 3 hours sleep last night.

From one of his TV shows he used to watch: "I am not a number..."

27/Sep/22 day 4 in the dark

Thus is what I am looking at.

Yes, it is dark in the house.

Not very interesting, that is for sure.

I know the Big Guy will be cooking a fish chowder later today.

Tomorrow will be the chicken.

Day after that, the roast.

What is left in the freezer will have to be thrown out.  No harm for that as most of the stuff, doesn't have a label and likely very freezer burnt anyways.

Going to be raining.   Bug Guy is going to use BBQ side burner to do the cooking.  Going to be miserable, as it will also get wet.   I may go outside out of curiosity,  but I will not be staying out in the rain with him.

26/Sep/22 day three

It is weird seeing the Big Guy sitting up on the couch at night. 

Without power, he can only sleep sitting up.

He wakes up often. 

I am sleeping in the living room with him.  He snore loud.

Especially when his head falls backwards and his mouth hangs open

25/Sep/22 where is the power

I am enjoying the fact that it isn't warm in the house.

But no power is extra boring. 

The Big Guy isn't cooking his usual stuff.

Hope the power comes back soon.

24/Sep/22 very windy out

Not going to post much.

Gotta conserve battery power.

Not even the full hurricane yet and very windy.

Went outside for a pee.

Friggin wind blew it all over my front paws.

23/Sep/22 I have to hurry up and wait

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Big Guy is expecting the power to go out some time this evening.

He plans to be cooking some stuff in advance, so that he doesn't have to worry about stuff not being ready.

He tied the lawn chairs to the front railing yesterday.

He also has a lot of the stuff moved to the corner of the back deck, but still has to tie that into place.

I know that Tonya is going to want me to go outside for a pee and what not.

She better think twice about me going outside if the winds are too strong.

The Big Guy is pretty sure that tomorrow, there will not be any power.

He doesn't think that Sunday is looking too good either.

A lot of people were getting their property ready for this hurricane.

We are going to see just what comes of this storm.

There is some place on the mainland that is forecasted to get the most rain.

But even my Memere, who lives 5 hours away, is also forecasted to be touched by this hurricane.

The Big Guy still has some items to get done.

He also wants to go to the basement and bring up some of his wine buckets so that they got clean drinking water.

Tonya was saying, it was quite the mad rush at the grocery store yesterday.

They were showing on the news, a lot of the shelves were empty.

One saving grace...

It isn't a snow storm.

22/Sep/22 waiting for Hurricane Fiona

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

There is hardly any winds right now.

It's relatively warm out.

This time, tomorrow, it should be a little different.

Saturday, well, we will see what Saturday brings.

The Big Guy did a Facebook Chat group for his family.

He will be keeping in touch to let them know what is going on.

That is if the power stays on.

Also, if the cell towers are still working.

The authorities are expecting a lot of damage and loss of power.

Little Floyd had broken the handle off the water cooler that they have.

Tonya returned the 5 gallon jugs that they had.

The Big Guy was going to fill them with water.

Guess that thought went out the window.

Tonya said, since the water cooler doesn't work, why keep the jugs?

She said he could go get new jugs if he wanted.

He isn't going to do that.

The Red Cross says that you should have enough water to last 3 days.  To fill the bathtub with water to flush your toilet.

The Big Guy is going to be filling some pots with water and hope that the City Water doesn't get contaminated.

Of course, the Big Guy hopes that the planning is just that.  Planning and nothing comes of it.

21/Sep/22 my sniffer smells cheese

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I would not have thought about it, but Tonya put some cheese whiz into her tomato soup.

That was sort of unexpected.

In a pleasant way though.

She had made grilled cheese sandwich with the tomato soup.

Most humans think you can't have one without the other.

The Big Guy had purchased this security camera for the back yard.

He is getting annoyed with it as it keeps loosing the internet signal.

It wasn't that expensive, so he doesn't feel all that bad about it.

He damn well knows, you get what you pay for.  He will eventually just put it in a yard sale and move on.

Something the Big Guy hadn't thought about, was the Hurricane is supposed to hit this Friday.  Will they delay the garbage pick up?

Then again, it may only be later in the day for the hurricane.

Garbage is picked up early in the morning.

This will mean someone is going to get wet.

That someone...

Is me...

If this was snow, I wouldn't be so upset.

But it's rain and I am going to get wet.

Joy...

20/Sep/22 I've got 3 more of these

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Everyone remarks on the size of my paws.

You do realize, it's genetics.

I don't really give a paw that much.

I was really never taught that.

I had some more turkey and vegetables yesterday.

I wished that I could have human food all the time.

I would likely get really fat if I did.

There is Hurricane Fiona that is coming up the coast.

It hit Puerto Rico this past week.

They got no power.

Right now, it's a Category 3 Hurricane.

By the time it gets here, it should be downgraded to a 2, or perhaps, even a category 1.

Back in 2003, Tonya and the Big Guy had Hurricane Juan visit the Halifax area.

Then, later that year, they had White Juan visit.

During Hurricane Juan, Tonya had no power for over a week.

During White Juan, they never lost power.

Of course the Big Guy hopes that the hurricane will blow out to sea.

Could happen...

19/Sep/22 guess who had some stuffing

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

It isn't Thanksgiving, but guess who had some stuffing yesterday.

Normally the stuffing has celery and onions.

Guess who forgot to add this.

So, without the onions, I was able to safely have some.

It was so good.

But, the Big Guy was a bit embarrassed due to the missing ingredients.

He has a recipe for stuffing bread.

It can be used to make regular sandwiches.  

But this recipe is super tasty when you use it in your stuffing.

The Big Guy got a hold of Terry's Stuffing recipe.

But he found that it was lacking some stuff.

Even Tonya said as much.

They added a few more items to their stuffing yesterday.

From what I hear...

Elaine is going to be making the next turkey.

But that will be at Thanksgiving.

They also had strawberry pie.

I got to have some of that too.

No onions.

18/Sep/22 who has more stuff I want

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday, Tonya made the Big Guy a steak.

The package only had enough for him to have for supper.

I really love steak.

Tonya had salad.

I normally want anything that Tonya is having.

Including salad.

That goes up to a point though.

I will try the salad and then I will spit it out.

But I insist on having it.

This is a little game we tend to play.

Tonya has something.

I want it.

The Big Guy has something.

I know I can't have it.

I am also used to Tonya and the Big Guy sitting outside.

BUT, they don't wear a fur jacket.

So, they haven't been sitting outside.

Sitting outside by myself is BORING.

I wished I got some of the Big Guy's steak.

27/Sep/22 I never knew how salty chips are

 

Good morning world.

When I yawn, Tonya looks at me and says that I'm every woman's dream.

Women must love it cause I tend to yawn a lot.

Talking of yawning.

The Big Guy woke up early and he couldn't fall back to sleep.

Now, he is going to go turn on the TV.

I bet he is going to be sleeping within 20 minutes.

He isn't sure why he is awake.

But he has taken his daily pills.

Some of them make him sleepy.

They have also been watching spooky movies.

Yesterday they watched The Adams Family.

I didn't think it was spooky.

Creepy perhaps.

They also have a really cool theme song.

There is this guy, M C Hammer that sings it.

This used to be a TV show from when the Big Guy was a Little Guy.

The Big Guy's gout seems to be done for now.

The pills he took, worked.

16/Sep/22 I am so bored

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Big Guy took his gout pills and his foot is feeling a lot better today.

He said that he still has to take them for today as his foot still has the gout feeling in it.

But at least he can walk today without a limp.

He tucked himself into the corner of the couch and napped.

Several times.

I thought I napped a lot.

He could have given lessons on napping yesterday.

You would have thought it would have effected his sleep.

Nope.

More gout pills and poof.  Sleep.

But they also stayed up longer than they normally would.

They also watched a spooky movie last night.

Which is something they rarely do.

In the end, it wasn't so scary.

Yea...  

Right...

That's why the Big Guy is thinking of the movie and has goosebumps on his arms.

15/Sep/22 you will find my fur everywhere

 

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I think if the Big Guy were to get one of those romba vacuums, I would break it.

Either that, or make it's life miserable.

I drop a lot of fur.

It's everywhere.

Once in a while, Tonya will take me to the groomer and they will brush me.

That will last about a week.

The Big Guy got the gout.

Right now, it's in his big toe on his right foot.

He says it hurts.

Tonya would still like for him to have salads.

If she could feel the pain his big toe is in...  she would think otherwise.

The Big Guy's father had gout.

But...

The Big Guy also has what he calls "Gout Pills".

But they don't work right away.

They also make him sleepy.

He may have to wait till he is almost done work today before he takes his pill.

He is off tomorrow, so he will not have to move around much and if he needs a nap, he can take as many as he needs.
