4/Mar/18 smile

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Smiling is not my strong suit.  This is about the best I can do without looking like Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory.

Yesterday I got to wrestle with the Big Guy on the couch.

It was a lot of fun.

Actually we were NOT wrestling, the Big Guy was trying to take a picture of me and I wouldn't sit still.  When I go upside down, it effects my breathing.  But I still do it.  Tonya was yelling at the Big Guy to put my right side up.  He wouldn't listen to her.  He can be mean at times.

The Big Guy was telling me, they may be taking me to the Dog Park.  Oh I hope so.  I have so much fun over there.

But I also heard him saying something about going to the Spa as well.

I'm not so motivated to go there.  That's where I get a bath.  I know they bath doesn't hurt me.  But still, not some place that I enjoy going to.

Then...  Last night...  Tonya told the Big Guy...  he is to make a "Biggie Breakfast" for her.

This can only mean one thing...

I'm going to be having some bacon, eggs, sausage and balogna left overs.

When ever Tonya eats her breakfast, or really, what ever meal in the living room, I will STARE at her.  She gives in and she puts what ever she has on her plate into my dog food bowl.

She can't resist my STARE!

Today's Word of the Day is:

Operose (adjective)
[op-uh-rohs]

My sentence:  If you propose and give your partner a rose, are you operose?

Definition:  Involving or displaying a lot of effort.

Sentence:  It's too operose to move the car from the ditch without the help of a tow truck.

3/Mar/18 am I in your way

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Tonya said that yesterday's picture was kinda disturbing.  Me with my mouth wide open and the Big Guy took a picture of that.  He's weird to start with, so what's the difference...

Yesterday Tonya and her sister went to the SPCA and got me new dog tags.  The Big Guy has to put them on my collar.  That way, if ever I run away, if they find my tags, they will know where I live.  At least that is the theory.  If I run away too many times, I think the SPCA keeps me.

Yesterday it was kinda frosty out.  Both Tonya and the Big Guy should have worn their ice crampons.  They were slipping quite a bit during our walk.

They didn't fall during my walk.  That would have been bad.  They get hurt when they fall.  At least when I slip and fall, I'm already close to the ground.  So I don't get hurt too bad.

Yesterday, it was below freezing, but there was fog in the air.  So that made EVERYTHING frosty.

Right now the Big Guy is "baking" his cast iron skillet.  He is doing this seasoning on the skillet.  But it smells like he is cooking something.  That's cause of the Crisco lard that is on the skillet.  He puts a thin layer of lard and then bakes his skillet for about 90 minutes.  Then he does another layer and another.  He will do this about 5 or 6 times.  But when he is all done, you will be able to fry an egg without it sticking to the skillet.

The weather is going to be nice this weekend.  Perhaps I will be able to go to the Dog Park on Sunday.  I will just have to wait and see.

OK, so today's Word of the Day is:

Pother (noun)
[poth-er]

My sentence:  If your not going to walk your pet dog, why do you pother to own one?

Definition:  A commotion or fuss.

Sentence:  The pother quickly escalated, and soon a full riot broke out.

2/Mar/18 Grandma what a big mouth you have

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So the Big Guy caught me yawning.

He's quite the funny guy.  Embarrassing me like that.  Humans yawn too.  They tend to put their hand in front of their face when they yawn.

Do you know what day of the week it is?  It's FRIDAY!  Friday means it's GARBAGE DAY here!

OMG OMG OMG

It's going to be super sniffer day today!

Yesterday when we went for our walk, the Big Guy wanted to drop into Home Hardware to get these new type of mouse traps.  They have a tube and an elastic band.  He says that he is going to get those little effers.  The normal snap trap can't fit and activate properly under some stuff where the mice are.  But this tube thingy, well, it doesn't snap over like those regular snap traps.  Also, they have to put those traps where I will not get to them and potentially set them off.

This also means they can't use poison to bait the mice.  I could get into the poison and then I would be visiting the Vet again.  Or worst.

BUT, while I was waiting with Tonya outside and the Big Guy was inside Home Hardware, I was getting restless to see where he was at.  So I was looking for him though the glass door.

The staff inside Home Hardware demanded that I be brought inside so that I could meet all the staff there.  They even had some treats for me.

Did you see the moon last night?

It's a full moon.  The glow on the horizon is from Marine Atlantic.  Even though it's below freezing outside, there is a thick blanket of fog.  This is creating a layer of ice on everything.  So I'm not sure, but perhaps the Big Guy and Tonya will be wearing their ice crampons when they take me out walking today.

So, on to the Word of the Day.  Today's word is:

Haptics (noun)
[hap-tiks]

My sentence:  Did you know that smiling for humans is like a facial tick?  When they see someone they like, they get haptiks.

Definition:  The branch of psychology that investigates sensory data and sensation derived from the sense of touch and localized on the skin.

Sentence:  The computer used haptick technology to recreate the sense of touch for its users.

1/Mar/18 go back to bed

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

I don't know what drives the Big Guy to get up so early every day.  But every day, I watch him creep down the stairs, trying to be quiet.

He will put the coffee on.  Creep around some more.

Then he will take a picture of me.  That normally wakes me up.  Then I go to him for my morning pat and scratch behind the ear.  I go outside for a bit.  Have a pee.  Sniff the air.  Some times I even lay down a bit while I'm outside.  The air is so nice and cold.

Yesterday we went for a walk.  This time the Big Guy didn't fall.  Both Tonya and the Big Guy wore their ice crampons.  They may have slipped a bit, but no falling down.

With all the ice that is out there, my nails are not being worn down.  I need bare sidewalks to wear down my nails.  Just the other day, Tonya was saying that she could hear me walking around the living room.

click click click click

That's the sound my nails make when I'm walking around.  Now, they are not as long as some other dogs that I've seen.  Geesh, they got friggin claws from not being walked.

Tonya has to go see her Doctor today.  I guess he is like a Vet.  Only for humans.  I hope she isn't going to be neutered like the Vet did to me.  Boy oh boy, didn't that visit surprise me.

On to the Word of the Day.  Today's word is:

Quidnunc (noun)
[dwid-nuhngk]

My sentence:  You score a quidnunc, when your playing quidditch with Harry Potter.

Definition: An inquisitive, gossipy person.

Sentence:  He was a bit of a quidnunc, the way he'd talk about his friends behind their backs and a few people trusted their secrets to him.
