Good morning Cape Breton. Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home. The Big Guy got a new BBQ for his birthday. Since it was his birthday, he got to get a could steaks. They were prime rib steaks.
Don't they look good? I didn't get to have any steaks. Not even the bones. The Big Guy has been reading stuff and it's because the steaks have been cooked that he said no. If the bones were not cooked, I could have them. Otherwise, the bones are very likely to create shards that could pierce my stomach. Can't have that. That would mean another visit to the Vet. Not to say that I don't like the Vet, but if I don't have to see them again, I will be fine with that. We went for our walk yesterday and the sidewalks were a lot cleaner. The ice and stuff has melted. We're not out of the woods just yet. There is more snow in the forecast. But there is also a lot of rain in the forecast too. So we will see just how much snow and how much rain we get. But with the temperature constantly on the rise, it would seem that the Big Guy may not be using his snowblower for the rest of this year. But I wouldn't count on putting the snowblower away just yet. They may be in for another snow storm before Winter is out. So if you didn't move your clocks forward an hour due to Daylight Savings, you better get on with it. That is unless you live where they don't change the time. When the Big Guy used to live in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, they didn't change their time. There is a lot of people that are asking for Daylight Savings to be removed. They find that they really don't need it. On to the Word of the Day. Today's word is: Oscitant (adjective) [os-i-tuh nt] My sentence: Since Oscar the Grouch rents a garbage can on Sesame Street, he is considered as Oscitant. Definition: Yawning, as with drowsiness; gaping. Sentence: The old dog slept most of the day, although she was occasionally oscitant, so we knew she was alive. Today's Video of the Day is one of mine: Max our Bernese Mountain Dog February 2018 photo collection
Good morning Cape Breton. Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home. The Big Guy is behind on making my February Picture Collection. Not sure why he hasn't done it yet. Then again, I bet it that XBox game he's been playing. Oh well, it keeps him happy. So yesterday, they got a new propane BBQ. It is a real nice one too. It took the Big Guy about 2 hours to put it together. Then he had to go outside and season the cooking grates. That didn't take long. Tonya wants to get a BBQ cover for it. The also got 2 prime rib steaks for the BBQ, but didn't cook them yesterday. They are going to wait for tonight's supper to have them. Yesterday's walk was interesting. It had snowed + rain Friday night. The trucks were out removing the snow from the roads. But because it was wet and heavy, the slush combination was being thrown up on to the sidewalks. Then it froze. So when Tonya and the Big Guy were walking me, it was a combination of the frozen sidewalks, with ice and then these frozen slush snow balls that were all over the sidewalks. It made for quite the walk for them. They had to pick up their feet a lot more than they would normally do. Tonya got a new shoe rack. But it didn't want to stay together. Eventually the Big Guy got some cable ties and fixed the problem. Now you will need to cut it apart. The Big Guy STILL hasn't made my biscuits. Again, not sure what he's waiting for. It doesn't take a long time to make them. Today's Word of the Day is: Uptalk (noun) [uhp-tawk] My sentence: Because the Big Guy is taller than Tonya, she has to uptalk to him. Definition: A manner of speaking in which declarative sentences are uttered with rising intonation at the end, as if they were questions. Sentence: The student's uptalk suggested that she did not understand the instructions. Today's Video of the Day is: Bernese Mountain Dog from a puppy to a dog
Good morning Cape Breton. Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home. The Big Guy turns 56 years told today. He has been trying to loose weight so that he can be around for another 56 years. So far, these last few months, no real weight loss. He said, this Monday, for sure, he's going to be trying again to loose the weight. He hasn't given up. It's just that he loves food so much. Yesterday, the weather got nasty around supper time. It was freezing rain, with ice pellets and hail. But the weather system that was supposed to bring about 30 cm of snow, well, that went somewhere else. We only got about 5 cm of snow. Today, the temp is supposed to go above freezing. The Big Guy will not be using his snow blower. He will be taking the shovel outside and moving some of the snow around. The Big Guy is also going to be getting a new propane BBQ. The one that he has on the deck, well it's beyond what he can fix. The metal in the back is falling apart and the BBQ is EXTREMELY hard to light. So out with the old and in with the new. Yesterday the guys at work were asking the Big Guy if he didn't get a new BBQ last year. He told them, yes he did. But that one was a charcoal BBQ. Totally different than propane. Tonya told the Big Guy, he has to make me some new home made dog biscuits. He says that it doesn't take that long to make them. I hope not. I would love to have some new biscuits. Otherwise, the mice are hiding. They must know about the new traps. The Big Guy is going to have to step up his game if he wants to get the mice. Today's Word of the Day: Mx. (noun) [miks, muhks] My sentence: Mx is short for a man that is born in Generation X. Definition: A title of respect prefixed to a person's surname. Unlike Mr., Mrs., or Ms., it does not indicate gender. Sentence: Mx. Smith was late to the meeting. Today's Video of the Day: Bernese Mountain Dogs in Switzerland
Good morning Cape Breton. Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home. I was hanging out with Tonya on the couch yesterday. She has a sore on her back from where the Dr removed a mole from her back. They put 5 stitches to close her back up. I'm not sure how many stitches I got from when I got my dew claws removed. But unless you really know where to look, you would never know I had an operation to have them removed. I am allowed to lick my back paws again. Same with other parts that are missing. Well I can't really what is missing, but I can lick the "area" at least. Well we got some snow. But not as much as the weatherman had forecasted. I can hear the plows on the street. I wonder, if the Big Guy were to ever get a job being able to plow the street, would he use the plow to NOT put as much snow in his own driveway? Are they allowed to do that? But, so far, the Big Guy doesn't need to take out his snow blower. There just isn't enough snow that fell. The Big Guy made Tonya a Fish Chowder last night. It smelled so good. But I wasn't allowed to have any. It has onions in it and onions are not good for dogs. Onions contain an ingredient called thiosulphate which is toxic to cats and dogs. The ingestion of onions causes a condition called hemolytic anemia, which is characterized by damage to the red blood cells. Onion toxicity can cause the red blood cells circulating through your pet's body to burst. That last bit was from Google. So no onions for me, or stuff that has onions in it. Apparently Garlic does about the same thing. So Tonya will have to be aware of what she is putting in my food bowl. On to the Word of the Day. Today's word is: Circumjacent (adjective) [sur-kuh m-jey-suh nt] My sentence: If something is round, it has a circumference. If something is next to you, it is adjacent. If you have to walk around something that is next to you, you just walked circumjacent. Definition: Lying around, surrounding. Sentence: The cat was circumjacent to the fire, trying to stay warm.
