8/Aug/20 "the way" I live to be in it

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Last evening, after the Big Guy was done at work, Tonya wanted to go outside.

The Big Guy put on his fall jacket that has the hoodies built in it.  They went outside and had these metal trays.

Then they also had these drink holders that you get from Tim Hortons, or McDonalds.  It is made of cardboard.

They rip up these trays into 4 pieces.

Then the light them on fire with a BBQ starter and then blow out the fire.  The cardboard will smolder.

Then, the put that cardboard on the metal tray and put the metal tray, with the smoldering cardboard on the deck.  Near them.  So that the smoke actually goes over them.

Mosquitoes don't much appreciate smoke.

But they also have to figure out where to put the tray to get the right amount of smoke to go over them.

Too much smoke, and they get a coughing jag.  Not enough smoke and the mosquitoes start biting them.

Then they are going the "Macarena" dance, trying to swat the mosquitoes away.

Yes, they could also use deep woods off, but then, they both feel like they have to shower before they go to bed for the night.  They both prefer to shower in the morning.

I guess this is what you would call, a first world problem.

7/Aug/20 is it hot here, or is just the fact that I'm wearing a fur coat

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Big Guy was looking at the weather network.  They were saying, there could be six major hurricanes this season.  This would be storms that would be on the level 4 and 5 level.  That's a big storm.  Your talking significant damage.  With potential power outage for several days.

I believe next weekend, it should be time for the Big Guy to thaw out the freezer.  There is frost build up on the shelves and what not.  This is normally something that he will do once a year anyways.  But also, you don't want all that frost melting if there is a power outage.

This is when you would be thankful if you were to have a generator hooked up to your house.

I just watched the garbage being picked up.  But so far, not the green bins.  Which is a bit weird.  Normally it's the same truck.

I guess it's going to be a different truck today.

There is this bench that I used to chew on when I was a puppy.  The Big Guy replaced the boards that I used to chew on.  He also took the time to paint it.

Tonya wants that bench up on the deck.  The Big Guy only wants it on the back deck after Charcoal BBQ season is over.  So your looking at October or November.  Lately, he hasn't been doing too many charcoal BBQ's.  It is a bit much to roll out the charcoal BBQ and get it set up.  Then you have to roll it back to the garage again.  He wants that BBQ to last as long as it can.

6/Aug/20 Baby Jack doesn't know what to make of me

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

As you can see by the picture, I had some company yesterday.

Trinity, the mom to Baby Jack, was holding him so that he could check me out.  He is 9 months old.  He weighs 25 pounds.  I weighed 25 pounds after 8 weeks.  But then again, I'm also a dog, he is a human, so we grow at different rates.  I could also walk about a week or two after being born.  Jack still needs some help walking.

One of the Big Guy's programs was on last night.  It's called Big Brother.

Some of you will not care, but last March, they shut down Big Brother Canada during the Covid 19 outbreak.  So far, it hasn't effected Big Brother, or Survivor.  The show must go on.

Yesterday the Big Guy was outside, fixing the wooden bench that his father had made.  Well, when he was screwing in the arms, he got a little too aggressive and he cracked the arm.  He had to take the time to cut out two new arms.  He will be attaching them today and then painting the chair.  That should take about an hour, perhaps less, to paint the chair.

If my non-furry Memere would be here, she loves to paint.

The other day, the Big Guy also cut down two tree branches from the tree that was in the front yard.  Well, he took the time to remove the tree branches, and cut them up.  Some went in the back yard for the burn pit, the other, smaller branches, it went in the green bin to be recycled.

5/Aug/20 yup you can scratch that itch just under my chin

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday morning, the Big Guy went out front on his property and he was trimming the front hedge.  He also got out the whipper sniper and went to town with that.

At one point, Tonya wanted to go sit out front and bring me with her, so that we could watch the Big Guy working on all this yard maintenance.

He yelled at Tonya and told her to keep me inside.  That I don't like those machines and the noise they make.

Which, by the way, is true.

When the Big Guy has me outside on the back deck and he is mowing the lawn, or using the whipper sniper, or the hedge trimmer...  I bark and bark and bark...  I even try to reach out through the rungs on the railing to the deck, to try to reach out to that piece of machinery.

Scientist have figured out, the noise that those machines make, sounds like a wounded dog.  So it is our natural reaction to try to see where that wounded dog is.  Even if we can't see it.

Yesterday, the Big Guy also cut out two branches from the tree that is in his front yard.  Today, he has to disposed of the branches.  He has to fix his chain saw to be able to do so.  Yet another machine that will get my attention.

With all this yard work that has to be done, the Big Guy isn't going to have much time to play on his XBox.
