4/Aug/19 were supposed to get rain + thunder + lightening

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

With the rain that's in the forecast, that should keep the heat down.  But then again, it would need to have all the windows open in the house for the house to cool off.

As you can see by the picture, I'm just happy as a clam, hanging out by the hot dog maker.  Although it hasn't made hot dogs in a few days.  It is slacking.

With the Big Guy's feet being so swollen, he decided that he would try to elevate them.  So he gathered up all the throw cushions and put them in a pile on the couch.  Then he laid down and put his feet up.

So he was laying there, like an astronaut.

I decided that this was a good time to go investigate.

Well would you look at that...  his face and what not are right there...  time to lick his face...

You would think that he would appreciate this.  But no.  My licking was put off.  He kept pushing me away.

Oh, looks like it is PLAY TIME!

I thought he wanted to wrestle.

He put me in a head lock.  Then he put his fingers in my nose.  WTF is wrong with you?

You can pick your friends.

Your can pick your nose.

BUT you can't pick your friends nose.

3/Aug/19 here I am, hiding from the heat

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

This part of the floor of the house, doesn't have a lot of insulation under the floor.  When it gets cold outside, this part of the floor gets cold the quickest.  It is so nice on my belly.

Yesterday the Big Guy was asking his middle brother, my non-furry brother, Marc, what the food was like where he is at in Egypt.  Instead of saying what he gets to eat, he just said, the food was good.  Not much of a conversationalist.

The Big Guy did this mosquito trap yesterday using a pop bottle.  He isn't sure how many mosquitoes he is going to trap, but he tried it anyways.  He got an empty pop bottle from work.  He cut the top 1/3 of the bottle off.  He put some warm water in the bottom 2/3.  Then added some sugar and added some yeast.  Then he inverted the top half (without the cap on) and put some packing tape to hold it in place.

Mosquitoes are attracted to CO2, which humans and doggies exhale.  Since a by product of yeast, water and sugar is also CO2 and alcohol, it should attract the mosquitoes.  He will check his "trap" later on to see if he got any mosquitoes.  He has also left the bottle on the "sunny" side of the deck.  So later on, any mosquitoes are going to be baked.

Now, they also got the Mosquito Vacuum.  Although that's not the proper name for it.  But that is what it does.  So a combination of the mosquito trap and the mosquito vacuum, they should be knocking down some of the mosquito population.

Perhaps if the Big Guy made a bat house and nailed it to his garage.  Oh the side of the house.  Bats apparently eat a lot of mosquitoes.

Then there is the wasps.  The Big Guy has a trap set out for them as well.  It must be working as there isn't a lot of wasps that are around any longer.  He must check the trap to see if it worked.  Empty it and set it again.

Wasps and mosquitoes.  What good are they?  What purpose do they serve?  They are like the asshole insects of the world.  Well, at least in Canada they are.

2/Aug/19 peek a boo I can see you

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

I've been moving around the house, trying to find a cool spot on the floor to lay down.  But then that spot warms up and I have to move again.

Yesterday there was loud noises coming from the sky.  Then flashes of light, then more noise.  It wasn't all that loud though.  Sounded like it was far away.

Then, the little radio that the Big Guy has, started making some funny noises.  There was an alert that came across his screen.  There was a Thunderstorm Warning.  Then there was more noises.  Then there was a Rain Fall Warning.  More noises and a Water Spout Warning.  The little radio will play this warnings and then will switch to Environment Canada Weather Service.  It will give the warnings in English, then in French.

He really likes his little radio.

Mostly he will listen to the little radio to listen to music when we are outside.

Tonya thought it was a good idea for me to get my paws wet.  She said that I was hot.

Well, no shit Sherlock.

I'm wearing a fur coat and you think I'm warm.  Did the panting give it away?

As much as she wanted me to go into my little pool on the deck, she also tried to wet other parts of my fur.  Gawd I wish she would stop that.  I don't mind the paws, but leave the rest of my fur alone.

1/Aug/19 these are the dog days of summer

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

You would think that people would keep their dogs home during the heat of the day.  Yesterday, Tonya and the Big Guy were sitting out and watching people walking their dogs in the heat.  That's got to hurt the dog's pads on their feet.  The pavement and the side walks are hot.

It wouldn't be so bad if they were to walk them in the grass.

The Big Guy and Tonya had steak yesterday.  They did it on the Hot Dog maker.  Strange how they didn't make hot dogs at the same time.  But I was quite lucky.  Tonya gave me the fat off of her steak.  It was so yummy.  There was also meat attached to the fat.

You know it's hot outside, when there is businesses that are only open in the Summer, but they are closing down due to the heat.  The Big Guy was watching the news.  This one place as two heat pumps in their kitchen.  They also double as an Air Conditioner in the Summer.  Well, the two heat pumps were not able to keep up with the heat that was in the kitchen.  So they had to shut down a couple appliances that generate the most heat.  Those businesses are loosing business due to that.

Just think of those poor people that work in a food truck.  I bet they were roasting inside.  But then again, they can always, shut down and roll away.  Then go home and have something cold to drink.

Talking of drinking.  Tonya got the Big Guy some beer.  Well his feet are all swollen.  He isn't 100% sure that it's the beer that is causing his feet to swell.  But he isn't taking a chance.  So, today, no beer, but water.   Likely water with ice in his BUBBA mug.  It's like a mini thermos.  He got it from my non-furry Memere a few years ago.  Tonya doesn't use her's that much.
