4/Mar/19 nobody said anything about the wasp nests this year

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So there is an old wives tale about wasp's nests.  If they are high up off the ground, it will be a "bad" year for snow.  If they wasps nests are lower to the ground, there will not be as much snow.

Since we don't have any wasps nest on our property, how are we to know, how high off the ground these wasps nests are?

If we went to the dollar store and purchased some of those fake wasp nest things that is supposed to prevent the wasps from building a nest, if you hung them low to the ground, would other wasps take notice and put there nest close to the ground as well, and then, when it snows a lot, essentially kill them off?

Not sure if you have ever seen a fake wasp nest before.

Here is what I'm talking about.  You get them at the dollar store around here.

The Big Guy had some.  He didn't notice the lack of wasps that year.

I don't think that wasps are really that dumb.

So they are forecasting for some snow today.  Along with some rain.  Of course the rain is going to fall after it snows.  That's what gets the Big Guy really pissed off.  The reason being, the snow is now wet and heavy and plugs up his snow blower.

Yes, those First World Problems...  they are real.

3/Mar/19 were going to talk about this flash photography

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

OK, so as you can see, each and every day, the Big Guy will walk around the house, mostly in the dark, trying to find me and then will take a picture.

This picture is also taken with a flash.

So...  POOF...  I'm blinded...

Thanks.  Just thanks.  I needed that.

You, know, your sleeping and this idiot comes around and finds you.  I can hear him sneaking around.  The floors are made of hardwood and some places they creak.  I mostly lay, in what the Big Guy calls, "THE WAY" and normally, I'm in it.

In the way...  get it?

Geesh, what a tough audience.

Hello?  Is this thing on?

So the weather forecast has changed.  Earlier this week, it was supposed to snow, up to 20 cm.  Now it's down to 10 to 15 cm.  Then, of course, there is the Big Guy.  If it were rain, he would be doing the dance of joy.

But, it's snow.

So no dancing for him.

2/Mar/19 I'm from the land down under

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Tonya and I were on the couch yesterday.  Of course I was just hanging around, upside down.  The Big Guy just had to interrupt and take some pictures.

Last week, the Big Guy was putting this leather flap on his garage door to protect the lock.  For 13 years now, he's been bitching about ice getting into the lock and freezing the lock.  For 13 years, he's been saying, he only needed a piece of leather to cover the lock.

Geesh... procrastinate much?

He finally did that last week.  But he left his drill in the back of the car.

It's not like the drill is going to be hurt by being left in the car like that.

But if nothing else, the Big Guy is a guy with habits.  He always likes to have stuff in it's place.  Once it's in it's place, his life moves on.  No worries.

But let Tonya move something of his.

Now someone STOLE it.  Doesn't matter what it is.  It's stolen.

The Big Guy has spoken to other guys about this.  They mostly feel the same.  If they put something, anything, somewhere.  They fully expect it to be there in a few years from now.  I'm not talking about putting something in the way.  Something went in it's "place".

I guess that would be like those extra pillows that ladies put on the bed.  Not all of them do that, but those that do...  well...  that guy better get used to NOT sleeping on those pillows.

1/Mar/19 in like a FROZEN lamb

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

I didn't realize.  Yesterday, I had posted my 1000th blog posting.  That's for continuing to read my blog.

So there is an old saying, for the 1st of March.  In like a lamb and out like a lion, or vice versa, depending on the weather.  I guess it makes people feel better that March is still considered Winter.

But it sure has been cold in these parts this Winter.  Now I'm not talking about the freeze to death cold of the Prairies.  Now those parts of Canada are cold.  But you expect it to be that cold out there.

Here, it's been pretty consistently cold for a longer period of time.  This doesn't seem consistent with Global Warming that everyone is talking about.  Shouldn't it be WARMER?  Yes yes, I know that the Summer months can be brutal.  But shouldn't the weather FEEL warmer all the time?

There is a snow storm coming up the coast, which should give us some snow on Sunday.  We will see how that pans out.  For where I live, we're not expecting that much snow at all.  Only a few centimeters.  Not even to get the snow shovels out.

The Big Guy has been bitching about doing a BBQ.  Well geesh, do one then.  Put on your jacket and go sit out in the cold.  Stop whining about it.

There is this tree that is between his garage and the neighbor.  Last year, he cut off the tree limbs.  He seen that it grew again.  He is going to have to be a little more aggressive about it this year.  Like drilling the stump and putting some salt on the stump to make sure that it doesn't grow again.

You know...  all this bitching about the cold weather...  I bet the Big Guy is going to be bitching about the spiders, mosquitoes and wasps this Summer.  Just wait.  Or, if this is being read in the future, roll forward and see if he isn't moaning about them.
