Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.
The Big Guy tried a new recipe to make meatloaf.
The broiler went out on his stove.
He was somewhat upset by this.
He tried the broiler yesterday and it was working once again.
Now, the meatloaf was really good.
But the Big Guy had to wonder, just how much better would it have been had the broiler been working.
He does this thing now, where, when the recipe calls for ground beef.
He broils it.
Cooks most of the fat out of the ground beef.
Then, he transfers to a colander and breaks up the meat.
He puts the cooked beef into what ever he was cooking and moves forward.
He pours the grease into a can that he keeps on the counter.
He doesn't know if there is a use for the grease besides putting it in the garbage.
I'm sure some one out there would have a use for it.
But honestly, it's only a few ounces of grease that gets thrown out.
Much better for him to cook it this way, vice trying to pour it down the drain with hot water.
Personally, I would just eat the greasy meat and be done with it.
Sigh...
Then, I would likely get the trots.
