4/Nov/19 arrr matie, gets me another mug of grog

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Once again, the Big Guy thinks that he is "Mister Funny".  He is "Mister Laugh At His Own Jokes", at best.

So I have noticed that there is a lot of people that are carping about people that are decorating for Christmas before Remembrance Day.

The Big Guy is a 25 year Navy Veteran and it doesn't bother him in the least.  He figures, first off, it isn't quite as cold out, so why not get those decorations up now, while it's nice outside.

2nd, the lights are nice to look at.  They are very festive.

3rd, since you really can't see the lights being on during the day, and since Remembrance Day is done during the DAY light hours, who cares if your burning electricity.

4th, the Big Guy says that he served so that your freedoms would be protected.  So if putting Christmas Lights up the day after Halloween is your "thing", then so be it.

5th, the Christmas music is very nice to listen to as well.

Does the Big Guy feel that he is being ignored as a Veteran?  Nope.
Does he feel that this takes away from Remembrance Day?  Nope.
Does HE wait to put out the decorations?  Yes.

It makes the nights a little brighter when those lights are on.

Isn't that what it's all about?  Making the world a nicer place to live in?

So put up those decorations!  Turn on those lights.

But also, give me an hour of thought, for that one day out of the 365 days in the year.

3/Nov/19 a face only a mother can love

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Tonya and the Big Guy got this pergola that is on the back deck.  Well during Halloween, we had some pretty high winds and rain.  It got the canvas loose and it sorta came apart.  The Big Guy didn't notice till they were going to work yesterday.

So that is something that he has to fix today, BEFORE they got to work.

Did I tell you about the Non Scale Victory that the Big Guy has achieved?  He bought this jacket last Spring.  He thought it was the right size.  Well, it turns out, his belly was just a bit too big to comfortably zip up the jacket.

Guess who has been wearing this jacket the last week...

Yup, the Big Guy has lost enough weight to get into his new jacket.  He is so pleased with himself.

We have actually gone for walks too.

That will help him loose even MORE weight.

But he did have a really sore knee this past Summer.  So he doesn't want to go too far too fast.  So far, it's been only around the block.  But yesterday, it was around the next block.  So it added about 200 feet to our walk.  So far, he doesn't want to do 2 blocks just yet.  He may do that next week.

I'm just happy that we're going for walks once again.

HORRAY!

2/Nov/19 there doesn't seem to be nickles on the ground

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

So for those of you that were not in the Military, you might not get the reference of today's title.

When the Big Guy was in Sea Cadets, then the Naval Reserves, and then finally in the Canadian Forces, when he was in training and would have to march around, in order to make sure that he was looking up and straight forward, his instructors would yell, "THERE ISN'T ANY NICKLES ON THE GROUND!  HEAD UP! LOOK STRAIGHT FORWARD!".

But in the day, a nickle could get you candy and what not.  Now, I'm surprised that they haven't banned the nickle, like they did the penny.

Now, if you got pennies, you can't even turn them into the bank for cash.

At one time, electricians would use pennies as a stop gap measure for a burnt out fuse.  Most people now a days wouldn't recognize an older glass screw in fuse.

As a child, the Big Guy would play with the burnt out ones.

Also, as a child, the Big Guy did stick his finger into the socket where the glass fuse was and got quite the shock.  He learnt a valuable lesson that day.

Now, they use circuit breakers.  MUCH safer for everyone.

1/Nov/19 all those trick or treaters have tuckered me out

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

So many visitors to the front door.  There is no way that I could bark at them all.  So many young kids wanted to pat my head.

Of course, each time they would try to reach out, I would try to sniff their hand.

That would scare them and they would LIFT their hand.

That made me do a little jump so that I could sniff their hand.

That little jump would make them yell.

That little yell would make me bark.

That would make the little one scared of me.

It was a vicious cycle. Over and over.  Hand, try to sniff, hand taken away, little scream, I would bark.

They were supposed to reach out with the back of their hand, let me sniff.  Then they could scratch my head.

Kids are dumb.

Do this like a hundred times and I'm so friggin tired.
