15/Jun/23 rest after the walk

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

When we get home from our walk, I just want to lay down.

With the Big Guy, it's not too bad.

He doesn't want to go fast to start with.

He lets me stop and I sniff stuff.

He doesn't mind too much as he is still a big man and he likes to be able to catch his breath.

Tonya wants to walk faster.

I try to keep up.

When we got home I laid down in the driveway.

When 155 pound Bernese Mountain Dog lays down, good luck getting him to move.

She tried pulling on my leash a few times.

Knock yourself out.

I am resting.

More coaching.

Nope.

Resting.

More leach pulling.

Nope.

Resting.

OK, I'm ready.

I went to the steps.

I looked up the steps.

Mount Everest.

What the...

She is pushing my ass towards the stairs.

Guess I better put one paw in front of the other.

When we got in the house, I went and laid down.

I just ran a double marathon.

5/May/22 can I have your pizza

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Yesterday, Tonya made some home made pizza.

She was hoping to put some peppers on the pizza.

Last week, she had bought some peppers.  She was tired of throwing them out in the trash.  So, she cut them up and froze them.

When they thawed...

They didn't look so good.

They were mushy and soggy.

They are still going to end up in the trash.

There is this area in the back yard.

They keep putting their compost in that former tree stump area.

It's a slow process to fill that former hole.

Of course, it doesn't help that the local animals use that compost to feed on.

The Big Guy isn't too upset by that.  I mean, he could just put some earth into the hole and be done with it.

But, he wants to do stuff on the cheap side and not buy some dirt.  Dirt should be a lot less expensive that what they sell it for at Canadian Tire.

3/Jan/21 you don't want to share your treats, I'm not your friend any more

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I can't remember what they were having, but neither Tonya or the Big Guy would give me what they were having.

I got pissed off and went and laid down, with my back to them.

It snowed yesterday.

That wet heavy snow that no one really likes.

There was a snow removal company that said to let them remove the snow and for you not to take a heart attack.

The Big Guy will take care of the snow.  But he will do so, slowly.

We also lost power last night.  I did not approve of that.  I got up on the couch with the Big Guy.  He hugged me to make me fell all better.

He may not share his treats.

But he does take care of me sometimes.

Sometimes.

Most times, it's Tonya.

23/Sep/20 is any of that Storm Pizza for me

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

So, there is this guy.  Frankie McDonald.  He is a amateur weather forecaster.  He gets rather LOUD when he is doing the forecast.  He speaks about getting ready for the storm.  Get your Storm Chips, your Pizza, your Pepsi, your phones and laptops charged up.  He really wants to let you know that things are going to get bad.

So, last night, when the Big Guy came down for his last break of the day, Tonya asked him if they could get a pizza for supper.  Well, the Big Guy has NO problems with getting a Storm Pizza.

Only, I will stare and stare and stare as Tonya eats her Storm Pizza.

I have got to have some of that Pizza.

Then, when Tonya will slowly reach out with some pizza crust that I can have...  well by then, I'm pretty much LOOSING my mind.  There is a small puddle of drool on the floor.

Before Tonya can say anything, I will SNAP it from her fingers.

More than once, I've snapped my teeth on her fingers.

First off, that's YOUR problem for making ME wait so long.  Try learning from YOUR FAIL!

Then, there is the yelling, after I've snapped the pizza crust from Tonya's fingers.  Yea, yea, what ever...  I've got the pizza crust now...  yell if you feel you have to.

I think if she would cut the crust off and give it to me in my dog food bowl, this wouldn't be a problem.  No waiting for me.  No snapping of the fingers.

With the Big Guy there is NO PROBLEM.  I could be starving.  I stare at him and he just stares right back at me.  It makes me nervous when he stares at me like that.  Geesh, it's like he is looking at me like I could fit really nicely on the roterissie on the BBQ that he has on the deck.

When he does that, I just give up and go lay down somewhere out of sight.  Friggin creepy guy, is what he is.

10/Dec/18 hop over to the kitchen and get me a sandwich

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So yesterday the Big Guy decided that he would take me to the Dog Park.  Which was fun.  Don't get me wrong.  I'm all about playing in the snow.  But he just sat on the bench.  His ass got cold so he wanted leave after 20 minutes.

I had quite a bit of fun.  That was until it was time to leave.  As we were leaving, someone else showed up.  The Big Guy was not staying.

You could also go to some pet store where they were offering free pictures with Santa.  The Big Guy just wasn't "feeling it", so we went home.

When we got home, the Big Guy had to go shopping for a few items.

Not

One

Treat

Can you believe that?  If Tonya had went, she would have got me SOMETHING.

The Big Guy...  NOTHING.

I sniffed and sniffed inside the shopping bags.  But there was nothing in them for me.  I couldn't believe it.  I was stunned.

Well, not surprised though.  He rarely thinks of me that way.  But he takes me for the occasional drive and a walk.  SO...  I think I will keep him around for a bit.

27/Aug/18 yes, I am king of the table

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

My non-furry Memere is safe and sound, once again, she is home in Moncton New Brunswick.  She left Tonya this wonderful Sunflower Afghan.  I know she is going to be showing it off at work all day today.

We went to the dog park yesterday and as you can see, I got up on the picnic table.  The Big Guy was kinda worried about how I would get down.

No worries, I jumped right off the table.

It was fun being at the dog park.  I got to meet a few dogs that I never seen before.  Although there was this one brute.  He went after this much smaller dog.  So they left the dog park.  I know who SHOULD have left and it wasn't the smaller dog.

That dog come sniffing around me and I wasn't concerned about him being a bully.  I was much larger than him.  But it never came to that.  Eventually the owner left the dog park.

Afterwards we went to the Four Paw Pet Spa.  I knew that it was bath time.  I didn't fight it this time.  I know during previous visits, I would fight it.  But in the end, I still got a bath.  Besides, the bath isn't so bad.

In the end, I was smelling pretty good.  I've got conditioner in my fur, so it's all good.  My fur is nice and soft and I smell pretty good too.

Then, later on, Elisha and Bryson came for a visit.  I was really good this time.  I didn't scare Bryson too much.  He did make a comment on how I was a really big dog.  But that's because he's so little.  So of course I look rather large to him.

7/May/18 I've got my potatoe

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Yesterday, was the day that we celebrated my non-furry Uncle Terry's birthday.  Something that the Big Guy and Tonya doesn't have very often is potatoes.  Well, when they were opening the bag, I really wanted to know, what was in the bag.  Turns out, it was potatoes.  So they gave me one.  I ran outside with it and started chewing on the potatoe.  I didn't eat it all.  I left it on the deck.  I would imagine, that they are going to "dispose" of the potatoe when they think that I'm not looking.

Yesterday morning, the Big Guy had the turkey all cooked by 7:30 in the morning.  Then we went for a walk.

When we got home, he removed all the meat from the turkey, including the skin.  He put all the bones and the skin, back in the turkey roaster to boil them down more.  Then he put some of the bone in the green bin, but all the smaller bones and such, he put out for the crows and sea gulls to eat.  I watched them as they were flying down and gobbling the stuff up.

Later on, Terry, Haas, Craig and Elaine showed up.  They had some turkey and the fixings...  Tonya asked the Big Guy if I could have some mashed potatoes and veggies.  He said that there was nothing in them that was bad for me.  So, she mixed it all in my food bowl.  Oh my...  It was so yummy.  No gravy though as there was onions in the gravy and onions are really bad for me.

But, yesterday the Big Guy took me to the dog park.  I had the whole park to myself for about a 1/2 hour.  Eventually I had some new friends that came by and I stayed for another hour.

Then we went to the Dog Spa where I got washed down.  I got into the mud at the dog park.  I think that I was going to the spa even if I didn't get into the mud.  When I got home, Tonya brushed me a few times to get a lot of hair off my body.

Then, last night, we sat out on the deck and she brushed me again.  Of course, more hair came off my body.  She threw it off the deck so that I didn't try to eat it.

It's raining out this morning.  I think they are going to walk me this evening, after they get home from work.  I guess we will see.

28/Jan/18 this bone hides treats inside it

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

When the Big Guy wants to calm me down, he will find this blue bone and he will put some treats in the various pockets.  Then, to keep them in place, he will also put peanut butter on them.  This keeps me amused for about 30 to 40 minutes.

It's raining a wee bit right now.  Not enough to get rid of all the snow, but a little bit of the snow is gone.

There is a big pile of snow at the end of the driveway.  Well that melts.  When it melts, it goes across the driveway.  When that freezes, it's dangerous at the end of the driveway.  The other day, the person that delivers the fliers, just threw the bag at the end of the driveway.  The Big Guy stopped the car and Tonya got out of the car.  Well she almost fell.  She wasn't wearing her ice capons.

The weather folks are calling for 5 to 10 cm of snow on Tuesday.  The Big Guy filled up his jerry can full of gas for his snow blower.  So he isn't all that upset if it does snow.  He also has his ski pants, so he will be warm while he is outside.  Not like before.  He would go out and his body was nice and warm, but his legs were really cold.  Not now that he's got these ski pants.  Now his body and his legs are nice and warm.

Right now, the Big Guy is making Beef Jerky.  It smells delicious.  The smell is going though out the kitchen and into the living room.  BUT, like every other human food, I bet I don't get any.

Tomorrow, I go to the Vet once again.  Just another dressing change.  I wonder if they are going to let me go without a dressing?  Soon I hope.  The Big Guy is tired of yelling at me about licking the dressing when I think he isn't looking.  That's when the cone goes back on my head.  I know if I wouldn't lick, it wouldn't get the cone.  But licking is my "thing".  So I can't stop myself.

Well, onto the Word of the Day.  Today's word is:

Feinschmecker (noun)
[fahyn-shmek-uh r]

Definition:  a gourmet.

Sentence:  Julia Child was more than a chef, she was a feinschmecker.

My sentence:  Der Big Guy kocht viel Essen und ist ein Feinschmecker

15/Dec/17 Santa, I'm being a good boy

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So it's Friday.  Do you know what that means?  IT'S GARBAGE DAY!  Oh the sniffs I am going to sniff today!  I can't wait!  Oh joy oh joy!

A sniffing we will go!  A sniffing we will go!
Hei Ho the merry go!  A sniffing we will go! (Sang to the song: A-hunting We Will Go)

I brought my rubber chicken in from outside.  I love the noise that it makes.  Tonya, well, not much.  She hid my chicken and gave me a boomerang instead.  It does make noise, but not as much as the chicken.

Well the Big Guy was complaining yesterday.  He has lost a lot of weight.  But now his jacket, that he used to fill out, well he doesn't fill them out any longer.  His jacket fits over his shoulders and arms.  No problems there.  But his belly isn't as big.  So before, when he had a big belly, he filled the jacket.  But now, there is a lot less belly.  So the wind goes right up the jacket like a wind tunnel.

Tonya says that she will buy him a new winter jacket to hold him over till next season, when his older winter jackets fit once again.  The Big Guy would like to get a winter jacket that has those glow in the dark stripes on them.  So when he is walking me at night, the cars will see him.

We will see what kind of jacket the Big Guy ends up getting.

Tonya is fitting into her older jackets and she is looking fine.  Yes sir!  Very fine!  If I was a human...  oh yea...

Bye bye fur now.

3/Dec/17 I am NOT ready to come in yet

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Those humans can be so funny.  They put me out side for some fresh air and then when I don't want to come in, all's they do is coax me back inside again.  There is times when that crisp air feels so good on my fur.

Remember, earlier in the week, the Big Guy was talking about the lazers

The lady wanted to know, how did I attach those thousand lights to the house

She could see the tree from the road

You can see the lazers on the ceiling of the living room

This in the "library", only cause there are book shelves

AAAAHHHH
The lazer
It's in my eye

The lazer isn't that powerful

But it makes for "pretty pretty" on the ceiling

Yesterday the Big Guy took me to the Dog Park.  I got to play for a LONG time.  He dressed up in his winter coat.  He had his neck protector on.  Big Gloves too.  He also wore canvas pants, so his legs stayed warm.

I got to meet another Bernese Mountain Dog.  She is from Montreal.  She also has "papers".  The Big Guy says that I'm a mutt and I'm special in my own way.  Although I'm pure breed, I don't have anything to prove that.  He said that "papers" aren't that special anyways.

She really didn't like me sniffing her bum.  She stuck to her owner and nipped at me when I tried to go around her.  Perhaps she was paying "hard to get".

Bye bye fur now.

5/Nov/17 that flash is annoying

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Did you ever get the idea that flash photography is just something to piss you off?

Why didn't he take it at this other angle?

Tonya and the Big Guy take me for walks.  Well I can pull REALLY hard.  So much so that I can just about take the Big Guy right off his feet.  They have friends, Tammy and Jim.  They seen them walking me a few times and have told them about this pinch collar.

So they got a lend of it yesterday.

It doesn't fit very well.

Then again it's also made to fit a smaller dog.

The Big Guy was laughing and laughing as he was trying to get this new collar over my head.

Well that didn't work.

So they went to the store and guess what I got...  Yup... a new pinch collar.

The Big Guy said that it made a world of difference with me.  I was no longer trying to pull so hard.

You can see why.  But I have to learn how to behave like a "normal" dog when I am outside.  I can't be dashing and running around.  The Big Guy figures that this is going to make our walks so much better from now on.

But as a treat, they took me to the dog park.  YIPPEE!

I got to run around with my other dog friends!  Tonya held the camera button down and a lot of pictures were taken at once.

If you click on any of the pictures, it goes full screen.  That allows you to see me a lot better!

But I was the BIGGEST dog at the dog park yesterday.  Everyone was so impressed with me.  They all said that I have HUGE paws.  Which is true.  I do have very big paws.

HELLO!

My eyes are up here.

Bye bye fur now.
