2/Aug/20 the floor is too hard to sleep on

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

There is this chicken place that is not too far from where we live.  It's called A&K Lick-A-Chick.  I've talked about this place in the past.  They have really good fried chicken.

But I never get to have any.

Do you know who else gets to have some of that A&K Lick-A-Chick chicken?

Sea Gulls.

Yup.

After the Big Guy and Tonya, oh and perhaps anyone else that might be visiting, they have the bones and what ever little remnants that are left over.

This gets thrown out to the sea gulls.

Now, it's not just sea gulls.  Some times the crows sees what has been thrown out.

Or the sparrows.

We got Blue Jays and Robins.  They don't seem interested in that stuff at all.

We even seen a cardinal once.  Never seen it again.

We got chickadees and humming birds.  Again, they don't seem that interested in the chicken bits.  Just the bigger birds.

14/Jun/20 I can send the bat signal from my eyes

Good morning world.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

There is definitely a green hue coming in from outside of the house.  This is from the grass and the trees.  They are growing from all the rain we have been getting.

When it rain, it puts a smile on the Big Guy's face.  He knows he doesn't have to shovel it.

A few years ago, the Big Guy bought Tonya this jug of flowers from the Dollar Store.  This year, he finally decided, it would be a good time to see if the flowers would grow.

He thinks there is a reason that this jug of flowers was being sold at the Dollar Store.  So far, it's just dirt.  No flowers.  You can't say that they haven't been getting enough water, as it's been raining quite a bit.

Oh well, there is a few holes in the lawn that need to be patched.  So he will use what is left of the jug and just dump it into those spots.

Well it's been about 3 months now that the Big Guy has been working from home.  He remembers it was just after his birthday that they got the computers and brought them home.

Tonya doesn't have any work, for the moment.  She is hoping to get another job, sooner than later.

Businesses are starting to open once again.  But they are trying to tax the patrons with a new Covid Tax.  People aren't liking that one bit.  They want to support the local business, but not if your going to make an obvious money grab.  That isn't right.

5/Aug/18 I learned to swim today

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

We went to the Bras D'Or lakes yesterday.  As you can see, I'm not afraid of the water.

Now, Banting, the white and black dog, she doesn't much care for the water at all.

But as Emily was deeper in the water, I tried to swim out to her.

At first, I was thrashing at the water.

But I soon learnt, take it easy.  It worked for me.

It was a nice way to beat the heat.
But I was exhausted when I got home.

After I got home, the salt water was drying.

I was getting white tips on my fur.

They decided to rinse me off

At one point, the Big Guy tried to hold me down in my pool.  I was having NONE of that.

He was determined to get me to lay in the pool.

I was determined NOT to lay in the pool.

Eventually we settled on them just rinsing me off.

So for the remainder of the day, I would lay away from the Big Guy.  I didn't trust that he didn't want to rinse me off again.  I felt that I was wet enough for one day.

29/Jul/18 oh the humidity

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Did you see what I did there with today's title?  Some of you may have seen this a play on the Hindenburg reporter's words when it was on fire and crashing into the ground.  He said, "Oh the humanity".  Get it?  I'm pretty witty, right?

I'm trying to beat the humidity by laying outside and pointing my mussel towards the breeze.  So far, it's only providing a little relief.

Yesterday, Tonya insisted that we go to Grove's Point on the Bras D'Or lakes.

We get into the oven like car and turn the air conditioner up to full blast.  It was so nice to feel the cool air from the vents.

The Big Guy brought one of my longer rope leads with him.  We parked the car and I wanted to run into the water.  But the Big Guy was holding me back.  No matter how hard I dug in and even turned on my 4 x 4 paw drive, I just couldn't get to the water fast enough.

We beat Tonya into the water by a country mile.

It was so nice to be in the cool water.

Tonya came into the water too cool off as well.

I was so happy, I took a poop on the beach.  Tonya wasn't happy as she had to pick it up.  She even put it in the beach bag that she brought with us.  I'm telling ya, I've got pretty special poop.

Back into the water we go.

I watched Tonya pick up some salt water jello and throw it up on the beach.

Time to investigate.

I ran out of the water.

I tried to sniff the salt water jello.

No smell.

Tonya's yelling at me.

The Big Guy seems to be watching me.

I need to taste the salt water jello.

I lick

OH MY FUCKING GOD

MY TONGUE IS ON FIRE

This is what I licked.

The Big Guy COULD have warned me.  But no.

This isn't some sort of salt water jello, it's salt water fire.  (also known as a jellyfish)

Back into the water I go.  Tonya is comforting me.  I am trying to lick the salt water.  Now Tonya's giving me shit for that too.

Up onto the beach where she has brought this jar of ice cubes.

Oh this is much better.  Such relief.

I slowly go back over to the salt water fire/jello.  Only this time, I'm very cautious.  I crouch down and BARK at it.  REALLY LOUD TOO!

We came home and I went into my little kiddy pool.

The Big Guy seen one of those friggin Jalapeno Sky Raisins and hit it with the fly swatter and threw if off the deck.

Nature is cruel.

Up yours nature!  I'm staying home from now on.

26/Dec/17 I'm all holidayed out

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

This is one of the toys that I got from Santa Claus.  I'm not sure who this guy is as I never met him before.  But since he's giving out presents, who am I to judge?  I've been chewing on this toy non-stop.

The power flickered a few time yesterday.  But all in all, we didn't loose the power.  Now, that can't be said for the rest of Nova Scotia.  There was high winds last night and a lot of people were posting on Facebook that they were running their generators to make their own electricity.

Right now, the Big Guy is making Meatballs.  And don't they ever smell GOOD!  I bet he is going to have a few for his breakfast later on.

I got to have some turkey and some pie yesterday.  No potatoes or carrots.  The gravy that the Big Guy made had a lot of onions in it.  So I'm not supposed to have onions.  So I didn't get any gravy.

I can hear the wind howling outside.  With the windchill, it feels like -11.  That is pretty cold out.  I know they Big Guy is going to be having his hood up on his new jacket today.

My non-furry Memere bought the Big Guy a pair of BRIGHT yellow snow pants.  He was pretty happy when he seen them.  He was kinda miserable last year, out in the snow, moving the snow around the yard.  This year, his legs will be warm.

Both Tonya and the Big Guy have work today.  They are not looking forward to going back to work.  Oh well, that happens.  Eventually they will be retired.

Bye bye fur now.

19/Dec/17 would you put another log on the fire

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Can you see me in this picture?  I'm looking over the arm of the chair.  There is no fire in the fireplace though.

The Big Guy put me outside this morning.  So far, it's the coldest this season.  It was -7.  I know that other parts of Canada get a lot colder than this.  But for this area of the country, this is about as cold as it gets.

Last night, when we were walking down the driveway, I was jumping and jumping.  I twisted my collar and the links came apart.  This meant that I was FREE.  But I didn't run away.  They put the collar back on me.

We went for a small walk and went to the store where the lady recognized Tonya.  They got a call from the Lotto people that they sold a winning ticket.  We think the store gets 1% of the value of the winning ticket.  They were pretty happy for us.

I didn't see Bailey.  I seen her yard and I know where she lives.  But she wasn't outside last night.  The other dog that lives with her, he doesn't like me at all.

Tonya said that she is going to be bringing me to the vet and I'm gonna get "tutored".  That sounds like fun!  At least I think that's what she said.

I gotta see if I can't go upstairs and wake up Tonya.  I know that she LOVES it when I jump up on the bed and look down at her.  Then I take one of my big paws and brush the hair out of her eyes.  Oh what am I saying...  I stomp on her face.  I think it's a lot of fun!

Bye bye fur now!

23/Sep/17 I got a ride in the new car

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

You can bet it will not be too long before I dirty up the windows on the Big Guy's new car.  I'm pretty sure he isn't going to like that a whole bunch.  But he's going to have to live with it.  But as you can see, he put up the cage to separate me from the front seats.

I do find that I have a lot of room in this new car.  I guess I should be happy that they don't have me in the very back of the car, in the hatch part and put up the cage to keep me in that very back part.  It does fold flat.

But then I would have to jump up to get in the car.  No, I think I like the middle seats better for now.

The Big Guy was saying how there are bugs across the front of his new car.  So you KNOW he has to go clean that up.  He got $3.00 for the wash bay.

Oh so guess what, he's going to leave me here for a bit while he goes to wash the car.  I guess I should have kept my mouth shut!

Bye bye for now.

21/Jul/17 I'm a tired little doggie

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Yesterday they were having computer issues where Tonya and the Big Guy work.  So the Big Guy was sent home to work here.  I was REALLY happy to see them.  He wasn't allowed to come play with us on the deck.

Tonya emptied my pool, washed it out and filled it up again.  I walked around my pool, cooling my paws off.

But as soon as the Big Guy was done work, we took off for Bras d'Or Lakes.  This time, Tonya went into the deep water and I tried to follow her.  It wasn't pretty, but I was swimming.

Did you ever see someone trying to swim for the first time?  They thrash about in the water a lot and you really don't want to be too close to them.

Well the same for me.  I tried to climb up on top of Tonya.  I scratched her up a lot.  I didn't mean to hurt her, but I was scared of being in the water over my head.

Of course they left their camera at home.  Isn't that always the way?

I went into the water a lot and I got to poop on the beach!  Tonya picked it up and brought it home with us.

When we got home, we went for a walk.  The Big Guy doesn't go swimming in the salt water.  He only likes swimming pools.  He said that the ocean has salty water cause the fish have sex in the water.  They pee and poop in the water as well.

Bailey wasn't outside, so I didn't get to see her.  I was sad about that.  But since I was getting all this exercise, the swimming and the walk, I was pretty tired.

Bye bye for now.

17/Jul/17 swimming at the Bras d'Or Lakes

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

I am hoping that the Big Guy will be uploading my videos and putting them in my Blog today.  Yesterday we went to the Bras d'Or Lakes and I was looking under water for the rocks that they were throwing in the water.  Not many dogs feel comfortable about putting their face underwater.

We went to the Dog Park over at the Open Hearth Park in Sydney.  It was Ribfest yesterday.  So there was a lot of cars parked there.  Thankfully there was ONE spot left open.  We parked there and I ran around for a bit by myself.  This one guy came inside the fence.  We thought he was bringing his dog, but he was just there to dump his garbage.

We came home and the Big Guy cut up a pork loin and BBQ'ed it.  Tonya dropped a few pieces on the floor.  Do NOT tell the Big Guy this.  He thought the pork was too good to share.

They were going to have Clarke and Elaine over for BBQ last night, but Clarke had plans to go visit with his friends.  I know that Tonya was kinda let down with this news.  But he has friends of his own that he likes to visit with.

The upload for the videos is going SUPER slow.  I will have to get this done for tomorrow's blog.  That is unless you know the youtube site and will be able to see my videos before they get posted.

Bye bye for now.
