21/Jul/19 my nose is so much bigger to smell you

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

I got a surprise last night.  Tonya and the Big Guy came home, fired up the Hot Dog maker and POOF.  HOT DOGS!  They didn't keep them all to themselves.  I got to have two of them.  The Big Guy said that although he could have ate the last one, he didn't NEED the last one.

They also bought this electronic rat trap.  Well, the Big Guy thinks that he is pretty tech savvy.  But this machine has his stumped.

Although this unit is run by batteries, he can't tell when the trap is armed.

Yes, he could test the unit by putting something on to the plates that has electricity on them.  But he said that he isn't feeling that stupid today.

Let me tell you about the Bug Zapper he bought back in '86.

So the Big Guy got posted to Moose Jaw.  The long Summer nights enticed him to sit outside.  Which is fine.  They sit out.  But the mosquitoes.  There is a lot of them.  So he goes to Canadian Tire and buys a Bug Zapper.  32,000 volts of killing power.

When it's plugged in, it gives off a nice hum, letting you know it's working.  Then, every so often, you will see an ark and hear the loud zap.

Something that really gives off a zap is a moth.  So moths are also attracted to the Bug Zapper.  Well, actually, everything but mosquitoes.  It has a black light to attract the bugs, but that is NOT how mosquitoes work.

Anyways, the moth is flying around, inside the protective cage, but not going into the zap part.  The Big Guy gets a blade of grass, hoping to insert the moth into the zap part.

Well green grass conducts electricity.  The Big Guy felt the shock up to his shoulder.

So he is not going to be testing the Rat Killer any time soon.

20/Jul/19 I seen the International Space Station last night

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Last night, around 21:54 AST, the ISS flew past.  Is that the correct term?  Flew past?  It is 410 km above the Earth.  It is travelling over 27,000 km per hour.

The Big Guy took several pictures.  It was a bit of a let down.  He was hoping to see the solar panels.  Plus it was also cloudy last night.

So perhaps another night, they will be able to see more details.  Tonya found, as the ISS was traveling over Newfoundland, for some reason, the ISS got really bright.  The Big Guy thinks, it must have been the sun off the solar panels.

Me, I was more concerned with the mosquitoes.

The Big Guy and Tonya covered themselves in mosquito repellent.  Then, they also got these little tin pans and then a drink container that you get from Tim Hortons that will hold 4 drinks.  They ripped that into 4 chunks and then set it on fire.  They blew out the fire and let it smolder.

The smoke did keep the mosquitoes at bay for a bit.  But not all the mosquitoes got the memo.

So, Tonya was doing the macarena on the deck.  For those of you that don't know, that was a dance from the 90's.

Were expecting a little more heat today.  Not quite as hot as other parts of the Maritimes, but hot enough for us.

19/Jul/19 open the pod bay door Hal

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Some 50 years ago, humans took their first steps on a space object that wasn't planet Earth.  It was the Moon.  Now, we got the International Space Station and we're talking about going to planet Mars.  Although, they are saying, those that decide to go to Mars, it's a one way trip.  You will never come home again.

Geesh, that's just like pets and their forever home.

I worry about where my next hot dog is coming from.

So, yesterday we went to the dog park.

Tonya was rather upset that I didn't have anyone to play with as I was the only dog that showed up.  Tonya went and sat on the pic nic table.  The Big Guy stayed on the bench that was closer to the gate.  He wanted to enjoy the sun.

Then, we started to come home.  Well, we stopped in at the Doggie Day Spa first.  I got my shower that I hate so much.  I went into the tub as I know it's going to happen, whether I agree with it or not.  So I try not to dwell too much on it and went into the tub area and got washed.

But if I do say so myself, I do smell rather nice.

We came home and they made some hamburgers in the hot dog maker.  The Big Guy calls it the BBQ.  I'm not sure why he calls it that.  BBQ is not an acronym for hot dog.  He is a bit weird.

Anyways, as they are having onions and tomatoes and cheese and mayonnaise and burger buns on their burgers, I got a plain patty, all cut up.

I gobbled it up in about 3 seconds.  Tonya was yelling at me not to choke.  I guess she hasn't seen me eat lately.

18/Jul/19 bottom part of the fridge is where hot dogs are kept

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Yesterday Tonya, Mylynne and the Big Guy had pork chops.  Do you think they even put on one hot dog for me?

Nope.  They totally forgot about me.

I'm actually surprised that they didn't leave me out in the rain last night.

We were sitting out on the front deck when Tonya said, lets go inside.  Well, we weren't inside more than two minutes when the sky had opened up and it was a huge down pour.  If Tonya had listened to the Big Guy, they would have stayed outside and would have been soaked.

But I did have two visitors yesterday.  Colleen and Joanne.  They didn't stay very long.  Colleen said that she felt bad that she didn't bring me any treats.  Oh well, next visit, I'm sure she will bring a treat.

So, my non-furry Uncle Marc is in Egypt.  People are complaining that it is hot here.  Well, where he is at, today, it is going to be +51 C with the humidex.  That is really hot.  I've got to wonder, if they had people from Mexico there, would they have a siesta?

Now, my non-furry sister, Linda, she lives in Manitoba.  They are having humidex warnings and it is going to be +38 there.  So there is a huge difference in temperature.

I think I would be drinking a lot of water, no matter what place I would be at.
