Good morning Cape Breton.Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.
We certainly do live in an area where the weather changes a lot. Yesterday, there was a lot of rain. Today, it snowed. Not a lot of snow. Just enough to make everything a nice white blanket.
But this is going to be short lived. It's supposed to rain again.
Look...
The Big Guy is smiling about this.
I've heard from my non-furry Memere. She was saying that her car doors were frozen shut. So much so, that the passenger side of her car, she still can't open the door.
People from Florida will never know what it's like to have your car doors frozen shut.
Then again, if ever the people in Florida experience that, something has gone drastically wrong with the planet Earth.
I supposed, not a lot of you are going to know. But Big Brother is back on TV. Only at this point, it's Celebrity Big Brother. During the last season, there was this one lady that was on that show that the Big Guy really didn't like. She lasted a lot longer than what the Big Guy would have liked. But he keeps forgetting. This is supposed to be reality TV. So they want conflict. That drives ratings. Ratings is what keeps the TV show on TV. Duh... Figure it out...

Tonya isn't going anywhere without me knowing about it.
When she moves, I move.
Now, the Big Guy, well he can do what ever he wants. When he gets food, he keeps it all to himself. SO no sense getting up when he does. It's just a waste of time. No sense begging from him either. I can drool all I want. It has zero effect on him.
We did go for a walk yesterday. It had just started to snow. So I really couldn't see the ice all that well. So I was slipping and sliding all over the place. The Big Guy found that somewhat amusing.
When we got home, I was quite tired from all the slipping. I just laid down.
Then, around supper time, the temperature went up and it started to rain. A lot of rain too. Most of the snow is gone. Like I was saying yesterday, this only adds to the Big Guy's happiness.
This would not have happened when they lived in the Prairies. It got cold there and it stayed cold for a long time.
But in the Prairies, they also couldn't see the Atlantic ocean from where they lived. Where as here, you need only go upstairs and you can see the ocean. Or at least Sydney Harbour, which is connected to the ocean.
The weather people were saying, due to this storm and the tides, being high, the tides were forecasted to be abnormally high. We didn't go driving around to see that. We just took their work for it.

I was all upset yesterday as I couldn't find my bone. I do realize that you can see it in the picture above, but that's due to the flash on the camera illuminating the bone.
I looked for my bone for about 15 minutes. Then jumped up on the couch and huffed in resignation that my bone was missing.
So this afternoon, we are supposed to get some snow. But that will not last very long. Then it's supposed to change to rain. A lot of rain. Lots and lots of rain.
Of course the Big Guy is smiling like an idiot. He loves the rain.
He was snap chatting with his brother, commenting on how Moncton was going to get snow and lots and lots of snow.
But it's going to be difficult on those people that live in the middle of it all. They are going to be the worst off as it will be freezing rain. That stuff can take down power lines as it makes them far too heavy and then drags the power poles to the ground.
That happened in Quebec a bunch of years ago and people were without power for several weeks. It even happened in New Brunswick a few years ago. Again, people were without power for weeks. Those storms are miserable.
In the city of Winnipeg, they have taken to putting the power lines under ground. Which is great. You need power to your house, they go to the central junction box and make the changes there. It's amazing not to see power lines.

So the Big Guy is like super excited.
We are having a lot of rain in the upcoming forecast. Even the middle of next week, it's just more rain.
Now the Big Guy has no illusions that Winter is not done. But rain makes him happy. Snow, well... not so much.
But there is this area, it's about a 9 hour drive from here. Actually, it near where I was born. They are forecasting upwards of 60 cm of snow. That's about 2 feet of snow for those of you readers that don't do the metric system.
We got a light dusting of snow last night. Not even enough to put salt down on the stairs. It will very likely melt after the sun comes up.
Yesterday, I spoke about these bundles of paper that was on top of the space heater. Well they are moved and the space heater is in the living room. Last night, after they got home, they turned on the space heater in the living room and didn't turn up the heat on the house.
Tonya said that it costs a lot to heat this big old house. Which is true. There has to be a better way.
But as you look around, you can see more and more windmills going up. But they all have to be paid for. They are not cheap. Although they certainly do generate electricity. Which means we have to rely less and less on coal to make electricity.
Again, first world problems. They are real.
