20/Sep/18 guarding the door so no one gets in

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

The Big Guy and Tonya says that I lay at the back door because the floor is cold and I can sleep better.  Really, it's so that no one can get into the house without me knowing.

It's my job to guard my family.

You bet I let the other dogs know that I'm on duty when I see them walking past my yard.  I bark as loud as I can to let them know that I'm here.

That is the same for when I'm in the car.

Last night, as we are driving to go get Tonya from work, there was a cat that decided to cross the road.  I had to let the cat know that I wanted to say Hello.  I only barked a bit.  But it was dark outside, then there was the rain, and I lost sight of the cat pretty quickly.

Tonya told the Big Guy to turn the furnace on this morning, to take the chill out of the air.  Well the furnace came on...  but then didn't stay on.  So it could be the thermostat.  Or it could also be a much bigger problem.  He definitely hopes it isn't a bigger problem.  Then again, thermostats are not exactly free either.  But the Big Guy can replace a thermostat without too much problem.  A new furnace...  well that's another problem.

I seen that the Big Guy put some steaks out for their supper.  I wonder just how much bugging I'm going to have to do to get Tonya to give up some of her steak.  I know that the Big Guy will normally cook their steak with mushrooms and onions.  Onions are really not that good for me.  But a significant amount of drool will normally convince her to give me some of her steak.

19/Sep/18 be a dear and put the blanket over me

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Most of the rain that we were due to get, we got.  So it wasn't so bad after all.  Then again, we only got brushed by what was left of the hurricane.  The next few days, no rain in the forecast.

I was out for a walk with Tonya yesterday.  I stopped in front of her, she wasn't paying attention and she tripped over me and fell to the ground.  As she was laying there, she moved all her limbs.  Nothing broken.  She got up and got me home again.  There was two ladies that were down the street that pulled up next to her to see if she was OK.  Just a bruised ego for falling over me.

But where she does have two replaced knees, she has to be careful not to damage her knees.  I'm sure the metal parts would be fine, but not so much the bone.

Next month, the Big Guy and Tonya will be decorating for Halloween.  They can only put out so much stuff with me around.  My tail is a real danger of sweeping stuff right off window sills and the like.

Last night, when Tonya got home, she made herself fried bologna and fried eggs.  Oh and I love them both.  Normally I will sit next to her and I will move my mussel so close, I could just reach out with my tongue and swipe it right off her plate.  I get the power drools started and her arm is full of drools as I am right there next to her plate, watching every bite that goes into her mouth.

Regretfully I can't do that with the Big Guy.  He gives me the "angry eyes".

Screw that, I'm not THAT hungry.  I'll go have some kibble.

18/Sep/18 I was cleaning it

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

So we got what is left over from Hurricane Florence coming to visit us tomorrow.  The hurricane has dumped a lot of water, but not so much for us.  The storm has turned into just a rain event for us.

NOT that we would want to have a hurricane come visit us.  No thank you.  Yup, you can keep them all to yourself.

They have all kinds of new people at the Big Guy's work.  They got about 30 new people.  Some he recognizes from before, others, well they are new.  They got a new account at work that deals with people's cable boxes.

As the new people were being walked around the building, they were told, as they were entering the area where the Big Guy sits, this is the Tech Support area.  The other part are just for Customer Service.  I bet Tonya didn't know, but she is now Tech Support AND Customer Service cause of all the accounts that she does.  Tonya has said that she likes the Tech Support stuff more now.  She used to be so scared of it.  Now she finds it easy.  Well, at least easier.

It's quite warm in the house.  Although it's almost Fall, the temp is up cause of the hurricane remnants that's coming out way.  I want to be outside where the air is still a bit cooler.

Tonya and the Big Guy were saying that they have got to find a creative way to protect their new pergola canvas roof.  It needs to be tied back, but they also have to find a way to make sure that the roof also doesn't fill up with snow and ice.  I'm sure they will find somewhat to fix that.  Probably a tarp wrapped all the way around the canvas.  I guess I will see what they do and I will let them know if I approve or not.

17/Sep/18 this is my favorite human, I'm gonna keep her a long time

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

I really love going for drives.  I get to see a lot of stuff.  Sometimes when we are out for our drives, I can get a bit excited and I will bark.

Now, if you haven't met me, let me tell you.  I can bark LOUD.  Now, confine that inside a car.  So it becomes even LOUDER!

Yesterday was no exception.  We went for a drive and I spotted another dog.  Of course I want the other dog to know that I am there.  So I start yelling HELLO! HELLO! HELLO!

But to the humans in the car, it sounds like BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK!

The Big Guy started saying stuff about turning the car around and taking me back home again.

I'm glad he didn't.  We got to go visit with Leo and Bonnie.  They have a huge property.  They were also holding a yard sale.  So I got to meet a few new people.  We got to walk around.  I got to poop in the woods.  I've never done that before.

The Big Guy was looking for this tree pruner.  It's like a long pole with a blade on the end.  He seen one at his brother-in-laws place, but they have left it outside and it's all rusted.  That is NOT the way you treat a good tool.  Then again, perhaps it was left outside cause it didn't work so well.  Who knows.  But the Big Guy knows, when ever he gets one, it will be treated a lot better than that.  His wouldn't be left outside to rust.
