20/Mar/18 Spring has finally arrived

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

I'm pretty happy that Spring of 2018 has finally arrived.  This means longer walks for me.  Obviously I'm not impaired by walking on 2 feet.  But the Big Guy and Tonya don't walk on four paws like I do.  So when it's slippery and snowy out, my walks get shorter.

Normally when I get home in the Summer months.  Tonya has a kiddy pool set up on the deck for me to cool the pads of my paws off.  Dogs sweat though the pads of their paws.  So we have to make sure that our pads are in tip top condition.

Tonya got some baby food so that the Big Guy can make me some more dog biscuits.  I just LOVE his dog biscuits.  The recipe is so simple too.  2 jars of baby food (any flavour), 2 cups of whole wheat flour, mix together, flatten and cut into dog biscuit shape, bake at 350 F for 35 minutes.  Let cool and let me ENJOY!  The last time, the Big Guy made a glaze too. It was a tablespoon of coconut oil with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter.  OMG!  It made the biscuits even BETTER!

But Tonya did admit, it's cheaper to purchase the store bought biscuits.  She bought about 100 biscuits for $4.00.  Yes they are good, but not as good at the Big Guy's biscuits.  They are the BEST!

So the Big Guy was thinking of starting another YouTube Channel.  They have got all of Floyd's books from when he was a little boy.  He was thinking of reading them outloud and video taping it.  Then if you have a small child that likes to be read to, you could put the video on of him reading the books.  Do you think this is a good idea.  Please comment below if you think this would be something you would be interested in.

On to the Word of the Day.  Today's word is:  Bibliopole [noun]
[bib-lee-uh-pohl]

My sentence:  Liberians will often enjoy dancing around the bibliopole.

Definition:  A dealer in books.

Sentence:  The big box stores are putting all the bibiopoles out of business.

19/Mar/18 tired from our LONG walk

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Yesterday we walked all the say to The Boy's House and back again.  I haven't been on a long walk like that in, well, several months.  I got to sniff a lot of stuff.  The sidewalks are getting clear of the ice and snow.  So that makes it easier for Tonya and the Big Guy.

The weather guy is calling for some freezing rain this Thursday.  That stuff can be nasty.  That means I may not to go for a walk.  Yesterday, when we were out for our walk, there was a wee bit of hail.  I had to squint so that the hail wouldn't hurt my eyes.  We were walking into the wind while we were walking towards The Boys house.  But we had our tails to the wind for the walk home.

Yesterday the Big Guy made a turkey in the morning.  It was all cooked by 9:00 am.  Then he boiled the bones and made is gravy.  Later on, Floyd, Mylynne and Colby came for supper.  Floyd had commented on how good the gravy was.  Little does he know, but there was two big onions in the gravy.  The Big Guy strained the liquid once the bones were done.

Floyd really doesn't like onions at all.  Now, for myself, I can't have onions at all.  Although Tonya did give me some gravy.  Only cause it was on the vegetables that she put in my food bowl.  I didn't get to have any turkey.  Nope, just mostly kibble and water for the old dog.

The Big Guy was throwing stuff out to the birds yesterday.  Not like I wouldn't have eaten it.  Stuff like the skin from the turkey.  Although he boiled it first for his gravy.  But in the past, he would have eaten it and shared some of it with me.  The cooked turkey skin is so good!  But he is on this crazy diet where he is trying to watch out for what he eats.

The Big Guy hasn't caught any mice in the last week or so.  I wonder if he got them all?  They have relocated the traps.  I wonder if they should clean out the peanut butter that is in the traps and put something else.  Like bird seed in the traps.  That might get their attention.  But only if they are around.

Today's Word of the Day is:  Hangry (adjective)
[hang-gree]

My sentence:  When your hungover and hungry at the same time, you are hangry.

Definition:  Irritable as a result of hunger.

Sentence:  He skipped breakfast and realized sometimes around noon that his moodiness and irritability were related to his hunger. He was, in essence, hangry.

18/Mar/18 this is MY chair now

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

In the past, Tonya tried to get me a doggie bed.  Yea, that didn't last too long.  I tried to eat it.  It got all ripped up as I was a bad chewer when I was a puppy.  But my teeth hurt so much from the old baby teeth falling out to the new adult teeth growing in.

I know that the Big Guy refused to let the previous dog up on their furniture.  He must be getting soft in his old age.

So...  yesterday...  the Big Guy went for a drive with out me.  Someone tagged him in a video to answer 20 questions about himself.  But he wanted to take it to a new level and drive around to different spots to answer those questions.

Leave it to him to be different.

He also downloaded the video feeds from his dash cam.  Right now, he is downloading the video's and speeding them up.  So his video will be him answering a question and driving to the next location to answer the next question, over and over till all the questions are answered.  He thinks it will be really nice.  I guess we will see what he comes up with.

Yesterday the Big Guy made these home made hamburgers.  If you recall, from yesterday's blog, they didn't have any burgers in the house.  So he made these Humdinger Burgers.  For the recipe, see this link >>HERE<<

They also remembered that they have this jalapeno pepper mayonnaise that they had purchased at Costco.  Well it made for a spicy burger.

Today's Word of the Day is: Erubescent (adjective)
[er-oo-bes-uh nt]

My sentence:  I've been told, since I'm happy all the time that I'm erubescent.

Definition:  A reddening or blushing.

Sentence:  She was so happy to see him that her fact turned erubescent.

17/Mar/18 St. Patrick's Day

Good morning Cape Breton.

Maximus Handsomius here from my forever home.

Well I'm not green.  Nor will I ever be.  I'm Swiss, not Irish.

Wait...  that might not be true.  During the summer months, I could roll around in the grass and my White fur might get stained green from the grass.  But since the grass really isn't growing right now, I don't think that's going to be an issue.

The Big Guy is cooking up some Montreal Smoked Meat Bacon for breakfast.  It smells so good.  He doesn't give me any though.  He says it's bad for me.

Really?  I'm willing to try and see just how bad it is.

The Big Guy was looking forward to having burgers on his new grill yesterday.  Well that didn't pan out as well as he would have liked.  They didn't have any burgers in the house. (Oops)  So they had steak instead.

The Big Guy got two new games for his XBox with his birthday money.  He plays these games for hours.  Wouldn't he have more fun with a bone that he could chew on?  Now that is fun to me.

Yesterday, during our walk, the Big Guy went into someone's back yard to have a look at their deck.  They have a roof on their deck.  He wanted to see how it was built.  He knows that the Awning for his BBQ has seen better days.  So he wants to build something out of wood.  But not with an asphalt roof, one with that fiberglass stuff that is wavy.  He thinks it will look good once it's all done.

Then there is also be bigger awning that it at the other end of the deck.  He would like to kinda enclose that area.  Make it so that they could sit out during rain storms and not get wet.  He's got plans.  No money, but he's got plans.

On to the Word of the Day.  Today's word is:  Eggcorn (noun)
[eg-kawrn]

My sentence:  Corn that is short and dumpy looking is known as eggcorn.

Definition:  A word or phrase that is seemingly logical alteration of another word or phrase that sound similar.

Sentence:  He loved slipping eggcorns into their conversation to see if she was paying attention.
